He gets a skill to boost his damage while the Lance is charging but only the default and corrosive capstone Lance can be charged without consuming charges. On top of that, one enhancement spawns a grenade on kill with the Lance and the default Lance is best at wiping out tons of trash mobs quickly.
Vex and Harlowe are at 50 and reasonably geared, time to try out one of the other two. Who to pick Rafa or Amon?

Hemolitions has to be the most underrated Rafa passive, I don't know why nobody seems to be taking it. It's easily the greatest bossing passive in the game short of Vex's blood shot.

Looking at the vex buffs I can't speak for the trouble tree but the dead ringer and incarnate tree are interesting. Incarnate seems to focus on making action skill focused builds better, still probably not as strong as its gun and bleed builds but hey at least heartpiercer no longer tanks EB's damage. Dead ringer barely got touched but I didn't think it needed much help anyway. An extra 5% and 10% melee damage is welcome I suppose but IDK if haruspex daggers needed a buff considering even without groundbreaker it one-shots most mobs, severely injures badasses and does reasonable damage already on bosses. Then again its like 12% so maybe not that impactful even accounting for pincushion throwing 5 at a time

FUNDAMENTAL ISSUE WITH PET BUILDS IN BORDERLANDS:ultimately the goal in borderlands is to farm to get stronger, and to do that you need to kill things fast. Pet builds rely on pet AI and damage which is still slower than gun focused builds etc. So pet builds will ALWAYS kinda fucking suckin 3, Fl4k was good not because of his pets but because he just buffed himself to deal more damageMoze's mini bear was good mainly because she still buffed herself and mini-bear was icing on the cake. Iron bear itself didn't really count as a pet and more of an action skill state Similarly, melee builds will kinda always suck because flying enemies exist. The facepuncher in 3 mitigated this but the facepuncher also just turned all melee builds into facepuncher builds

The "spawns reapers on kill" passive is meaningless because you still only have a max of 3 normal reapers anyway, and with how fast your skill charges, this is basically a non-issue. This makes the only really good capstone being the one that let you buff your pets + take one extra augment. The tree this is from also has a skill to increase your minion cap to 4 which considering grim reaper is basically just a slightly better normal reaper, it makes this just better than grim reaper period tl;dr I don't think melee vex is worth it because the thrown knife kinda fucking sucks

For reference I run the standard 41 Blue, 8 Red reaper build.. I have no doubt its always going to be slower than gun damage or green tree bleed shenanigans but I still found it in the comfortable middle ground between bosses melt in literal seconds and jesus christ where the fuck is my damage since basic enemies die mostly in 1 hit to a regular melee attack and badasses are barely that much more effort. Cooldown resets on the bosses are an issue yeah since resummoning is really the only way to get around it, no real solution to it until we get more skill points and yeah flying enemies are going to be a pain but the knife fan has a generous hitbox and recurrence + curse at least ensures my gun damage isn't completely anemic when I have to switch to itIn terms of the reapers. The skill node only lets them use the curse rather than apply it and then gives it a 200% bonus on crit. You're right though that the double augment is the only worthwhile capstone since it lets you keep all 3 reapers up at all times so you an also benefit from enhancement in the red tree. Also no, diener only gives you an extra skill charge it does not up the cap of minions to 4. Still probably want to go down that tree to get the capstone and help reaper damage though

Looking back at endgame BL1 gameplay, it's actually kinda crazy just how tanky everything is. Even if you are using the absolute most meta guns, it still takes like at least three to five seconds to just completely delete something. You would also run out of ammo relatively fast if you are just spamming one gun like the Ajax Ogre.It feels so much better when you have noticeable damage progress instead of minmaxing for non-combat stats or combat qol like movement speed, cooldown rate, and damage radius.

>>541231542The legendary SMGs in the game are alright, but some of the nuttiest ones are purple. A vladof boory with jakobs and COV parts clears fucking screens. The COV means you have a ramp up but it reigns in the recoil and makes the SMG accurate to stream into crits for tons of ricochets. Add in sticky explosives and the ricochets will deposit the stickies on enemies which will all benefit from the ramping sticky damage.

So every bit of XP gained before unlocking so is "wasted" by that measure. I did most of the stuff in fadefields before finding this out and when I did, I rushed main story. Not sure if it's worth it to just switch up your style of playing the game. If you have more fun this way, I'd say stick with it

I am getting real tired of the deadzones in this game. An enemy that gets too close to you can't be shot and there are tons of tiny annoying swarm enemies like the kratch, threshers, breakers, etc. that just stick to you and destroy your shield and you can't get away from them. Feels real bad to try and shoot a shotgun at an enemy's crit spot and have it go straight through them because they are a cunt hair too close to you.
