I've said it before, SS is not a "git gud" game since it hinders you from playing more or practicing. It's a "be gud or giv up" game. If you're already really good at it, then you'll probably have fun since you likely wont have to redo runbacks and stuff.
>>
>>541354476
Bruh, it's literally the first ever Metroidvania I've played to completion, I didn't finish any souls game except for ER and Sekiro, I'm not great at them in general, I lost to LL like 50 times and I still think SS is the best game I've played in the last half-decade, easily.

Yeah thats what I'm dreading on a replay. Most of the enemies in HK are just not that interesting to engage with. There is not a single HK mob I can think of as fun as the spear Skarr or that fucker with the scissors. And Hornet's incredibly fluid movement options makes up for the knight's iframe options and spell damage imo. And the healing system is so much more engaging and keeps you in the battle, and lets them design enemies with faster attacks to compensate. It feels like they really fleshed out the combat.

Now I wonder what the mist is like in Act 3. The Mist is there due to her silk being blown into the air by Phantom's organing. During Act 3, do the wraiths become voided? Are they black now? Is the entire Mist black now? How anyone seen The Mist in Act 3?

Honestly curious. This can't be down if you defeat Phantom, so I assume a lot of people may have missed it. That also raises the question if Phatom, a silk being become a void entity in Act 3 (I heard the Fire Brothers became void in Act 3, for example, so I know bosses might become void). Is it possible there's a Lost Phantom no one knows about?

In P.Ducts you can find a special flea that tells you the location of all the fleas you're missing. She charges, but if you're smart, you'll see her product listings technically tell you the area you're missing fleas, so combined with the interactive map, you can probably get an idea of the fleas you're missing for no charge.

Ok so basically, this boils down to how the fuck are there furms in both bellheart and in Sands of Karak. The answer lies in what I believe to be a basal species in the form of the bone scuttlers. They are the dominant live form in the marrow, so it wouldn't be too weird to think they'd migrate to some neighboring regions, which would result in the furms. One thing that supports this things is the fertids in far fields, who are similar to the other three, being ambush predators, having a relative with wings in the flapping ones and mimicking it's enviroment.
Now I believe that Bellheart may have originally been part of the Karak kingdom, so the coral furm would be older than the bell one, since it doesn't have wings as developed, nor can it borrow as well the other one. Now I believe when the Citadel took the area and made Bellheart they either: tolerated the furms considering the overall tolerance they have for Shellwood, or they tried to kill them but fail. Either way the furm now has no means to ambush prey anymore since it lives in the bells, so it starts using them.
After adapting to the area enough that they can sucesfully hunt, I suspect that's when the large ones started appearing, this enormous size is quite similar to that of the Bone Tyrant's, which seem to be grown up skull brutes which are themselves larger skull scuttlers.
Sorry if this was dissapointing.

It could also be that winged furms don't appear in Karak because there's already a creature with wings that fills that niche, any furms that grow too big and expose their bellies by flying are easy prey for conchflies
>>
>>541376438
I used Reaper exclusively until the end of act 2, then I started switching between reaper for platforming and architect for combat cause I'm a toolfag
>>
>>541376438
i honestly suggest crest swapping over sticking with one crest. It's fine to have a "main" crest but a lot of crests can fill different niches and it's fun to mix up your playstyle
>>
>>541374556
I did forget about those. Also I'm going to be honest here, I don't know where I thought the coral guys have wings since they are covered by their shells, but maybe they have and they are something more basal. Also kind of funny how both furms have fur despite not living in cold weather, maybe it's for sensory reasons?
>>
>>541376167
Honestly, this was just born of me being curious as to how there is furms in such distant places between each other, then I started to notice a few similarities to the skull and grass guys. I'm surprised it got this large.
>>
>>541377131
>>541373827
"Furm" could just be a derivative from the word "fur" and maybe they just use it to describe furry bugs. Like "spotted" or "striped" for irl animals.
A zebra and a tiger both have stripes, but that doesn't mean they are related.
>>
>>541376670
They are already easy prey for the conchflies, but being on the ground does protect them from the other two main predators of the sands.
>>
>>541377815
I realized that part of their names halfway through writing why they have hair. That was pretty dumb on my part, but I still think they are related

look up for Shiragami FUBUKI (hololive) Hollow Knight play through, it's fantastic and complete; there are several translated clips online. We all are currently waiting on her Silksong dive. She liked HK so much she bought all kinds of plushies.
In this same vein, DO NOT look Towa's one as she didn't like the game and took it like a whatever thing to do. She dropped it at some point. DO NOT look for any Hololive english vtuber, they all are generic trash.

Friendly reminder that "Higher Beings" simply refer to regular bug-people, at least in these plaques that are scattered around Hallownest.
Maybe Team Cherry did a later retcon (ie either forgot or wanted higher beings to mean something else), but again, these plaques tell a different story in the usage of the term.

>>
>>541409128
The section I have circled is the only bit where you have to be concerned about touching the water. If you clawline then double jump when you reach the end of the clawline you'll avoid it. You don't need to jump prior to the clawline, just stand at the water's edge and release it.
>>
>>541409128
No, drop and immediately use the claw, then double jump to the wall.
>>
Does Eva have to stay in the tank as a silhouette forever because Team Cherry couldn't think of a good design for a half-spider and half-slug girl?
>>
>>541409327
Frankly there's nothing in the base game that's anywhere near Path of Pain yet the devs faced a dilemma knowing that a significant proportion of SS players will have completed the Path of Pain and would be hoping for some of that type of platforming in Silksong.

To be honest what we got: Mt Fay with time pressure, Far Fields mask shard ascent, Abyss Ascent, Nameless Town, all strike a happy medium between regular platform and stuff that poses a slight challenge.

But I am owed a Silksong: Path of Pain DLC. Nameless Town ascent cannot lay claim to being it, that was nowhere near the same level.

>>
>>541410237
In principle. In practice they're too boring to be used to farm rosaries. I'd rather wipe out the Grand Reeds with Thief's Mark equipped.

>>541410324
I'd prefer they not go down the prequel route. I can understand the temptation, when it means they can ignore everything that transpired in the previous 2 games, but I don't want that.
>>
>>541410103
I know Hornet eats her for a powerup on request, but changing from a spider tank with a vague silhouette to a broken spider tank doesn't quite match what I was talking.
>>
Do you think there's some logistic reason why they prevent access to the top of The Slab from the peak of Mt Fay?

Like there was some too obvious game-breaking skip potential there for players who somehow managed to escape the Slab up and out (naked or otherwise).
>>
>>541409909
Honestly I'd rather do path of pain than the ascents in silk song. Pogoing on saw blades and changing the order of dash and jump is far more intuitive to me than some of these sequences
>Hold onto ledge
>Jump, hold forward, fall
>Clawline, double jump, change directions, dash (or hope spacing is good)
Is it easier than path of pain? Yes. But it's such an unnatural sequence of maneuvers that it frustrated me more than path of pain. The latter felt like it tested my skill. Silksong feels like it tests my buttons per second.

It's always gonna look different with a different set of skills though. I think that's the main difficulty of designing hard platform sections for Hornet as well since her movement has so much more depth than the Knight's.

What I'd have liked to have seen is more antagonistic design that punishes shit like being unable to go straight into a cloak hover once you've got the double jump because pressing B forces a double jump before you can float. I remember redoing a platforming path in Far Fields after I got the cloak and suddenly it was much harder, almost impossible, because of roof spikes that I kept accidentally jumping into.

I've not read a theory that really convinces me yet.

As much as can be said is that Styx appears to be a bug who can change masks. Beyond that, it's hard to tell whether the things he says are actually his own personality or whether he's pretending to be that way while wearing that particular mask or whether wearing that mask actually imparts that personality upon him.

To add confusion, in Steel Soul runs, Styx himself is dead and you can see a corpse that looks like his, laying in his room (no mask visible). Then there's a secret room to the right that contains a Steel Soul only NPC called Skynx who is wearing Styx' mask upside down and buys Silkeaters off the player. The only theory I've read about Skynx is that he's a Nosk-type creature as it's not clear that Skynx is 'thinking' as much as it is mimicking things it has heard other bugs say. Sometimes it will say shit like "Save me", sounding like Styx.

Coming back to Styx, I don't really buy him being a Nosk-like bug though since he seems notably more sentient and wears masks the right way up. Although it seems like a big coincidence that a bug who can change masks should be killed by another creature who also wears the masks of other bugs (but upside down).

I respect your opinion however I will submit my case for Groal being annoying:

>(1) The runback:
You cannot turn your brain off for it. Without the wreath, you need to be mindful of the water especially at the bit where you need to duck under and up to avoid it. There are RNG elements in pretty much every room along the way: Stilkin can appear in the first room after the bench... but might not. The green flies in the pogo room generate at different locations so you're not performing the same jumps each runback. In the last room before Groal himself there are RNG Stilkins AND glowflies so again you can't just turn your brain off.

>(2) The Gauntlet
A particularly annoying gauntlet because the enemies spend so much time under water where you're just waiting for them to appear. In other gauntlets you can clear quickly based on skill level and aggression. Here you are obliged to wait for Stilkin and Trappers to jump out the water. Not just once but in multiple waves. If that wasn't enough, you need to wait for a giant spike ball to come and go. Then when you're done you can wait for another 2 giant spike balls to slowly traverse the arena for your trouble. Every single time.

>(3) Groal himself
HP sponge, cramped arena, boring fight. Interspersed with more Stilkin and spike balls to make it even more cramped and add RNG. To cap it all off, you've got no healing if you haven't got the wreath at this point and have ended up in the water mid-boss.

Ultimately I beat him but I think all these things together make it an annoying boss. It wasn't a case where I felt like a better player for having beat him but rather that one too many annoying things had been lumped together in one place. That was probably the point, so fair play to them. But for me Groal is the most annoying boss.
>>
they really put hunter's march there knowing full well that 90% of players would go into it without dash and without a crest that gives you normal vertical pogo, and then to top it off they put the trap bench there knowing most players would fall for it

All three of you are now moving the goal post. First it was if it's a straight line, now it's about whether or not you can get lost, cancerous, or to ignore the first third or half of the run that isn't a straight line.
>>
>>541416025
Going in the water from the bench is not necessary. You can clawline + double jump over it.
And even if you did touch the water, you can bind off the parasites. I did all of Bilewater without ever wearing the wreath.
>>
>>541416025
It's not. The bit you're thinking of that has a very low ceiling with water under it, you can clawline under the ceiling and then double jump right at the end of the clawline. If you hit it perfectly you avoid the water, no wreath.

This is in part why people (me) complain about the runback though. It's not the same as a mindless pogo section. I had to perform that sequence every single time.
>>
>>541415913
I agree with >>541416062. Once I got past the Skarrsguard (even without having dash), once I entered the next room, I noped out of there and didn't come back until my first needle upgrade.

It's the barnacle area. There's a surprising amount of pharloom bay still in the files, to the point where I fully expect it to be dlc. It's among the list of all the areas in the files (none of the other cut locations are there), and modders have been able to enable it so that it shows up in the world map.

The gnats are pretty weird to be honest, they have such long limbs in their disguises. Those also only have 4 legs, while the actual thing has 5 short ones. If there were no body in the main room and Skynx was wearing literally any other mask, and it was the right way up, I'd consider it settled that they're the same person. But there's just too much that doesn't quite line up.

In the OG game all moths are descended from the Radiance and the ones we interact with in the story are ones who turned their back on her in favour of the Pale King.

That makes sense, and funny enough I was just thinking of that sort of thing. It would be kind of hard to convey the idea of a bug's equivalent of down without going out of your way to define the new word, and that just breaks the flow of information. Easier to just call it something that people are already familiar with, even if that's not what it really is.

Insects don't have blood, they have hemolymph. Hemolymph does not transport oxygen in insects, as they oxygenate their cells through direct interaction with oxygen in the air via their unique respiratory system. They've both fucked me over a few times, so I need to decide which I should focus down
>>

Isn't this technically niece x aunt incest?
>>
>>541455117
Judge is way easier if you figure out the runback parking but phantom is also not that bad as long as you don't fuck up the QTE.

Both are fairly easy

Judge
>Not as intimidating as you might think
>Runback is not as bad as people say it is but it is still a runback
>Magmabell makes the fight less scary
>Only scary part is being in the blast radius
Phantom
>REALLY fun fight/QTE
>Pretty much a non-existent runback (the bench is right outside the boss room)
>Neat way to get to her area via The Mist
>You get a Silk Skill for defeating her

I legit have not played any other game that demands reaction times as fast as HK, the only thing that comes to mind is actual fighting games
>darksouls
it's a completely different thing though because being 3D and having bosses that barely fit in the screen means you are not studying the bosses animation, you are rolling around until there is an opening. HK demands frame perfect inputs
>>
>>541453757
I think "bullet hell" is a sub genre of this "reaction based" gameplay genre you speak of.
>>541455117
>They've both fucked me over a few times, so I need to decide which I should focus down
If you've fought them both, then I figure you'd have an idea of which is easier for you. Some people find LJ easier since there's more freedom for when to hit her. Some find Phantom easier since Phantom takes the lead in the dance and all you have to do is hit when she says to.
>>
>>541456670
>he doesnt look at boss animations in dark souls
What? Thats the entire fucking point of the game's combat. "Looking around until there is an opening" my man you are watching their animations!
>>
This was such infuriatingly unfun garbage it's actually unreal. At no point did it ever feel like I had any degree of control on the result. You're entirely at the mercy of how much bullshit the RNG wants to throw at you.

I'll beat the other two minigames (I have no doubt they'll be just as horrible or worse) and get the needle upgrade but in future playthroughs I will either cheat/mod to get the pale oil or just not max out the needle (nor find all the fleas beforehand, the little cunts can stay trapped in the ass of the world forever), but I swear I'm never doing this fucking shit again.

Jesus christ yes I'm mad.
>>
>>541455117
I can't really judge, The Last Judge have cancerous runback, and Phantom is difficult on it's own right. I think I ragequitted (Alt+F4) The Last Judge more often (because I couldn't be bothered with runback anymore), but Phantom took more tries. Maybe, I didn't count.
>>
>>541456193
They arent literally siblings though, they were just born at the same time. The incest comes from a bad translation, which is kinda depressing since it seems like all of Silksong's translations range from subpar to awful.

I don't know what people mean when they say the bench is right next to phantom, it's closer than judge sure but you still have to platform and dodge the steam blasts. I'm thinking it's harder to get needle hits in since they're so quick.
Judge run back is a bastard due the the drill flies and dodging mini judges.
What's your setup for either?
>>

I don't know about you, but I couldn't recognize the animation of DS boss if saw them out of battle, I mean, being 3d means there's a gorillion of possible frames on the screen, that's what I mean, in HK every Boss has like 3 different animations so they are visually much easier to memorize, and because of its fast paced nature the game becomes "Boss frame changes to X, Y or Z and you press X Y or Z button respectively", I don't get that experience in a 3d game

I use things like weavelight and the druid tool 24/7 though. Snitch pick too.

Ngl, a 20 wave arena of all/most the mob enemies of Pharloom sounds pretty chill. Don't make any double baby-boss waves like in HH arena. That'd be such a dick move to have to do 19 waves all over.

Kind of funny how out of all the mementos, there's 5 that you should actually get/are tied to one another
>Hunter's because achievement
>Grey Memento because Hunter's Journal
>Craw Memento because Hunter's Journal
>Hero's Memento because Hunter's Journal + achievement
>[Insert Heart] Memento because achievement
Surface Memento you might as well get since you have to climb up there for both the Mr Mushroom's questline and to complete the Hunter's Journal
But Seth's Memento is completely optional since you only need to beat the previous highscores from the fleas to get the Pale Oil. And Sprintmaster's is optional since you just need to beat the 3rd race for the mask shard
>>
Cute
>>
>>541458615
Yeah, bounce is the easiest and funnest imo. I even like dodge a little bit. Juggle however.... I think I'm better off never doing that again.
>>
>>541459858
Honestly I expected them to be instantly destroyed when sitting on bench like everything else. But they're surprisingly persistent.
>>
>>541459879
Imo what makes dodge so much harder than bounce and juggle is it feels the most RNG. Juggle you can kind of manipulate and you at least have 3 strikes before you're out. Bounce becomes trivial once you get into a groove
Dodge is entirely RNG based since you can get like 10 fleas where they don't even come close to you or 50 fleas doing everything in their power to make your day the worst possible day in Pharloom
>>
>>541460306
It's entirely RNG. Bounce and Juggle I can notice I'm getting better at them, Dodge I depend 100% on getting lucky. It's a terrible minigame.

I've gotten the pale oil already, but I never felt like the RNG was that bad. I never felt there was a moment in dodge that couldn't be done. Guess I'll see it again when I try to beat Seth's scores.
>>
>>541460306
You know you can recover after getting hit, right?
>>
>>541462660
It's not about any single dodge that can't be done, it's about how after you dodge you may have a perfectly clear airspace or there might be 3 shits coming at you from one side and 3 from above two of them diagonally, and then you dodge those somehow and suddenly it's 10 seconds of nothing getting anywhere close to you, and then the fat flea shows up and eats the platforms and they don't reappear before you're already out of the screen or maybe it doesn't show up at all
How far you get in that minigame is 10% your skill at dodging and recovering and 90% how many fleas come at you at any given moment and from which directions and angles

>I was broke for essentially 100% of the game
How? It's especially easy to make rosaries in Act 2
Did you tie up your rosaries?
>>
>>541473484
I mean more like people who pull up to a bellway or bench or Vog and have like 20 rosaries to their name and single frayed rosary string. Not having 1100 for something that's essentially useless once you bind Eva isn't a big deal.
>>
>>541473046
they only nerfed the prices by like 20 roseries. that's like 3 kills. go walk outside the bell station and slap 3 guys.

I think the people that had roseries issues just expected to be able to wipe out every shop the second they saw it for the first time. like you would in a final fantasy game upon reaching a new town.

i know the trick to juggle is to group the fleas together by hitting them all in the same direction but I feel that sometimes when they start coming out in 3s and 4s and they come from both sides there's sometimes one of them that comes in too far and too late to be able to redirect it towards the others, and then there's nothing to do but let that one go and lose a strike

You can heal for one during the spikes and heal for three when you stun him into his bat form. Pure Vessel has tigher heals if I remember correctly.

Yeah I know that but the layout is random and the Wraiths are randomly positioned. Even if you know tricks like the third room always being a side exit and you can recognize room spawns, the random nature of the layout means you can just lose time navigating it. In comparison, every single time through Blasted Sands will be identical if you're moving optimally.

The good thing with the Mist is you only have to go through it once. There's a bench right outside Phantom's fight and the runback from there is incredibly short in comparison to Blaster Steps
Both are viable though

Yeah also completely fair. Plus after Phantom you get that super comfy Citadel entry point right at the fast travel hub. Plus Cross Stitch is a cool skill and Last Judge gived you nothing (although you can get a craftmetal along the way and immediately go back for the dice). Frankly its just cool to have options both with their own positives.

That's also true. Both have different rewards in a way
Phantom grants you Cross Stitch, drops you right next to the Citadel Bellways, and into the Citadel itself
Where in contrast Last Judge grants you more exploration. You can climb up and break into the Citadel itself via the breakable part above. But most people would probably take the elevator and fall into the Underworks, which is a completely new area to explore
The good thing is you can do both, so regardless of either method, you can fight both and experience both sides. it's nice that TC gives you the option to enter the Citadel from two different areas, but you're not locked out either regardless of which entry you take

The pod in the Exhaust Organ looks similar so I think you're right. Its not a bat phase, its just that when you hit him enough to stagger him he momentarily turns into a little bat that flies around harmlessly for a few seconds. Its actually kind of annoying to land a hit on him and I rarely can, it is the perfect time to heal. Also when he does his move where he creates the fire geyers underneath you that's another good time to heal. Just wait until hes made the fourth, dash and heal. Its also a great time to sneak in hits. I could always hit a charged dash-slash right underneath him as I passed by. Alternatively stop right before him so a geysery forms under you, then move under, hit him twice, and keep going. Just don't put yourself in a corner until the fourth geyser and you're good to go on that move

individual gauntlets of the coral tower aren't hard, the enemies are squishy and good chunk of them are very predictable, it just goes on for ages and banks on you making a mistake. I would rather prefer if it was structured more like Verdania, explore the map, do the gauntlet open some shrine, 3 shrines and you can tackle the last gauntlet + boss becuase it has such beatuiful backgrounds, easily the prettiest location in the game.

I think that would be cool but its clear they wanted each heart location to feel unique and that would just be the Lost Verdania schtick twice.
>>
>>541523637
I've still much work to do feeling out her rhythm. The only sequence I have observed is 2 direct charges with ground tentacles in her wake and then those are followed immediately either by a third charge OR she spins into the air. I need to get it into my head that I cannot just dash above her during those initial charges because the tentacles extend too high.

Also any time I try and hit her head on and she blocks me I'm getting hit fully with her flurry response. If I want to keep attacking head on I will need to find a way to get away the moment I register she's blocked my swing.
>>
>>541524389
If you go above the tentacles during her dashes she will always dive kick after the second dash, its hard to describe but if you get the feel of it you can do it consistently. For the parry you can always jump immediately after, and then go forward/back depending on her positioning.

Is it worth it? I really liked the game but there are other games to play out there and I really don't like the idea of repeatedly killing bosses to attempt a harder one again
Only thing I'm missing is unlocking the hard mode version of the circus guy and finding the last mask piece, but I don't really care about the latter

Its cool to unlock Godhome for a few new boss fighrs and the godseeker mode in general is a nice addition if you ever eant to do that down the line, and Nightmare King Grimm rules of course, but there is no need to force yourself to do stuff you dont have an interest in. I never really bothered with Pantheon 5 because every attempt takes too long.

Try it, and if you don't have fun, stop. Easy as that.

Can we drop the use of "higher being" as referring to Demigods already? At least with regards to Hollow Knight, Pale King and so on. Its simply not the correct way to view its usage.

What is the general consensus on the difficulty of the game? I finally just finished the True Ending. I found most of the difficulty of the game to not real challenge. I hope you guys know what I mean.

I just feel like all of the "difficulty" comes from the games dumb aspects rather than actually being challenging. 2 damage attacks everywhere in the game sucks, skills and heals being the same resource sucks, the skills and charms you can use are good but feels very restrictive especially with resources needed for both. Getting hit while healing and losing everything sucks. The run backs and forced cutscenes suck. Input reading bullshit enemy moves; and so on. So many of these systems just clash completely with the game. I never found being aggressive to be the right move, never found being passive the right move. I never felt like my skill was on display because trying hard doesn't equal a win. It's more luck based if the enemy decides to do this move or that move, or if the game decides to not fuck you in the ass with undodgable, unavoidable scenarios.

If most attacks only did 1 damage, the run backs weren't so annoying, etc. The game would just be too easy. Feels like it's in a horrible place where it isn't really hard but more annoying, and also isn't easy enough to breeze though, but isn't average-difficulty enough to play normally (casually?) and have a good time.
>>
>>541535884
THe only difficult part of the game is the platforming, I didn;t rage at all from fighting bosses but the platforming made me seethe so hard.
>>
>>541535884
the difficult part is the bosses and gauntlet rooms, the platforming is so good and makes me smile
>>
>>541527940
Trust me bro. If you don't have the Wreath of Purity, don't even bother. The juice aint worth the squeeze for that one. If that's your only place to go, just keep trying, you'll eventually do it. But if you have elsewhere, go there and come back. Bilewater is the 0/10 area of the game.
>>
>>541535884
>skills and heals being the same resource sucks

>>
>>541535884
there is no consensus, half the fanbase is fromdrones excusing every bad game design decision under the pretext of difficulty=good, the other half that isn't brainrot more or less agree with what you just said, too many of the mechanics are there to waste the player's time and TC lost their concept of fun and overdid with the punishments. On the other hand, they gave the game a lot of replayability value so there's a silver lining
>>
>>541531425
You can use architect crest's power attack and pogo for the shredded organs, no shards needed for that
>>
>>541536005
I genuinely question why the guantlets and bosses are difficult though? Because to me they are the parts that are most fun, but least challenging and most frustrating.

Fighting bosses in tiny arenas, spikes everywhere, explosion moves all over the arena, teleports and dodges galore, literal 1 frame free blocks for the boss that don't let you hurt them. Gauntlets are the same shit. Not really that hard, but force you into scenarios that test your patience, ability to heal/dodge; typically too small of a room to really stretch your legs and makes healing very risky.

The way the game wants you to play is to not get hit at all, while being aggressive, dodging and attacking all at the same time in a "dance" with the enemies. But it just doesn't work because the screen is constantly filled with enemies, projectiles, shit to stop you in your tracks, shit to force you to abandon an attack, restricts your ability to move and do shit because you're force to play the game wants right now or else. It works so well when you pull it off, but no one is perfect and any slip up can and will ruin the fight for you as it spirals down. Especially since you can get hit multiple times in quick succession all which deal 2 (sometimes more) damage when it takes you 5+ hits of aggressive close range gameplay just to heal back maybe 3 hp (lol you got hit by a small fast projectile .1 second after healing now you lose 2 hp faggot).

None of it is "skillful", it's all reaction based to what the game is fucking you with now. Genuinely never felt that experience in HK.

5 or so tries at most on any boss. with one exception.
I was struggling with the ant queen until I decided to stop being stupid and change my build, then beat her on the next try. everything else was not too hard, i'm happy with where it's at and I hope they don't nerf anything further. I understand that people that wanted easy mode hollow knight feel hoodwinked but the complete lack of difficulty in hollow knight was my one and only complaint and I am glad that got addressed. I wasn't expecting it at all. I was expecting silksong to by babycore just like hollow knight was and was presently surprised that it feels like a normal game that tries to build stakes and sense of anxiety.

LL toolless reaper sufferer here. What's the play for the void projectiles that fire directly at you?

In principle I am trying to make a beeline for the nearest wall the moment the black suns appear with the intention of wall climbing up and then jumping out in an arc so that they fire at the walls and up/out of the arena and then by the time I float down ideally they've passed. In practice I'm taking at least 2 hits every time they appear.

there's one in deep docks near the air current room in hunter's march. take the bottom left exit from the air current room, go down the first exit you see, and look for an exit that needs wallclimb to reach.

I've basically given up trying to hit her head on with Reaper without clawline or indeed do anything in this fight without clawline. With clawline I can get in, get a hit off and get out before she can parry but normal swings get parried every time. Safe pogo opportunities are the only time I can get a normal Reaper swing to land.

Even my running away is clawline based.
