Unlike the M60's cupola something about it's shape and how thin it is make it an unreliable spot to shoot at. The M48 is a more well rounded tank, quite literally, burger shaped tank in the american tree, you're missing the point of playing america if you don't have an M48. While the m47's armor can cause issues due to volumetric the m48 armor is consistently good enough, has a better shape for fighting hull down and most importantly of all, a faster reload, something incredibly important for a tank that often has to choose and switch between the high post pen damage APCBC shells for the times you manage to flank your opponents or find yourself fighting a light vehicle and the low post pen damage HEAT required to deal with almost every medium and heavy you face frontally as M82 is so fucking miserable at 7.7 that even weakspots are often armored enough to stop it.

The Ariete's are basically just straight up worse in every way compared to same BR tanks like the Abrams and it seems like Gaijin is just completely fine with that, so they're only worth it if just like the pastas a lot. It used to be the case that they were supposed to at least have better firepower than other tanks at the same tier, but now they've been overtaken as stuff like the US tree kept getting buffs to their firepower. I enjoyed them and the tree generally for what it's worth and that's basically what I did, buying the Ariete and Centauro premiums together, but I 100% wouldn't recommend it unless you just have a strange desire to get Italian stuff.
