Some more experimental VR interaction tech for children's card games. With the default pickup system in most games (including vrchat), drawing cards from a deck feels awkward compared to IRL. The card starts flat on the deck and its pose is fixed to your controller pose. So in order to rotate the card upright into view without also flashing it at an opponent, you have to rotate your controller/wrist all the way around (or "ratchet" it by dropping and reorienting your controller a few times). First part of webm related shows how that looks.However, with real cards, you usually pinch the card between your forefinger and thumb, so when you pull the card off the top, it tilts towards you about 40deg, relative to your wrist pose. So I implemented the same tilt as you pull the card off the deck (using the distance from the original Y position of the card to lerp from flat). So that's 40deg you don't have to do with your actual wrist, which feels a lot better. I have the same tilt happen when you pick up cards off the table, so more wrist tilt you don't have to do.Also IRL, when you're pinching the card between thumb and forefinger, you can spin the card around pretty easily to get it upright so you can read it. To emulate that, once you bring a card you're holding close enough to facing you (card normal dot view direction), it spins upright automatically (over 200ms lerp). This takes the other ~40 degrees of rotation you otherwise have to do with your wrist/controller to get the card upright. Thus, you can do the same general wrist motion as drawing cards IRL and the card gets into the same position, even without any virtual fingers to finely manipulate things.Right now the angles and spins are just hardcoded. I think outside of vrchat, it'd be feasible to use joystick/index touchpad/trigger analog value to actually tilt/spin the card around with your fingers. Too jank to do in vrchat though.

>>541793694came back after rebasing that commit from toaster repo with current monado master and playing a bit with itusing that old steamvr_skeleton commit "fixes" the wobble by not having controller velocity implemented onto the hand pose which vrc uses, which funnily mean that not even it has a crazy delay since there's no prediction applied, it still has the wobble on the controller itself in it (unnoticable in vrc since it uses hand pose, not actual controller itself for everything)so as a result, monado is still dogshit for knuckles users and i'm surprised you actually somehow didn't notice this after doing so many latency tests

VR is so much better that it's not even funny, only boomers stick to flatscreen for general comfort of not having something on your head all the time.

>>541802191Yes, in the edges of the screen it shifts from vivid red to equally vivid orange, shift is of similar magnitude as it is on picture. I have a red tie on avatar, it kinda keeps fucking with my brain but i've already gotten used to the fact that it's orange now. And other colors also shift, purple shifts into gray somehow.
