I'm not sure psyker even has enough permanent damage buffs to easily reach breakpoints for one-shotting trappers in the body. I remember even maniacs + specialists with Puncture not killing them fast enough.
There is a meme build where you spam the force greatsword's beam attack then instantly switch to your Puncture pistol, because it applies the bleed to the beam while holding it, but that is EXTREMELY APM intensive and barely worth the payoff.
Really, if you want a gun that you sometimes use on psyker, laspistol is the way to go, revolver makes for easier headshot one taps since it cleaves through hordes good, and recon las is just a better gun overall.
But also if you use a gun on psyker you're a fag.

So how is current havoc, anyway? I haven't touched it since it came out, but it sounds like below the upper 10 levels it's simply cancerous. It doesn't really feel like now is a good time to start playing it, but I'm not sure it'll ever get better either.

Crushers are twice as durable and, with rotten armor, as common as before, if not more common.
Rotten armor spams slightly tougher armored units nonstop, on top of being more durable because havoc.
Current season has rotten armor, stimms (enemies can receive huge defensive buffs), healers (self-explanatory), and flak trash. Pray that if you have rotten armor, you get flak trash, because healers or stimms make rotten armor spam an almost intolerable slog to kill.
Krak veterans are MVP, not bringing one is almost retarded. If you don't have one, your psyker will be forced to waste millions of damage into a horde for minutes on end until the healer dies, and there can be multiple of them, and it could be a crusher. Unfortunately it's not as simple as just meleeing them, because a crusher + bulwark blob can't be melee'd fast enough before the heal rubber bands them back to 100%.

I've had enough of the current havoc season after grinding my assignment to 40, and don't intend to play much of it, if at all, until rotten armor + healer modifier leaves rotation. It's too much of a slog. Give me back rituals and aids puddles.

Yeah, I haven't played any of it at all, I've just seen a couple clips of it and heard people complaining about it. The concept sounds neat but it has always seemed like misery in practice given the reception. I figured it might have gotten better in the latest update since the "power levels" of things got shuffled a bit, but as you mention it sounds pretty awful for my situation right now. You can play a dedicated, Scrier's Gays melee build with carapace on the sword, because it actually does kill crushers relatively quickly when properly built for it. This also means you're effectively a melee focused build, and thus a meme build.
I'm not a huge fan of melee psyker, and I use picrel on my electro staff psyker. Electro staff doesn't have enough aoe to clear hordes, so I use the sword almost exclusively for trash, hence the otherwise dogshit meme perk of infested.

I think the balance changes have gone in a good direction for the first time in ages. CDR spam and piss toughness spam were too easy, too OP, and too meta. Unfortunately the skill tree changes somehow made zealot less versatile, power crept veteran in melee somehow (lol) and the seasonal effects and plasma gunners are somehow even more restrictive than all previous seasons, even factoring in the balance changes.
Havoc is in a worse state than it ever was, though most of it is owed to the absolute cancer modifiers this season.

Honestly, if you weren't interested in havoc before, I kind of doubt it'll get better or more accessible, so I wouldn't recommend you bother. Even climbing up to 30 is absolute misery, because all the actually good players are in the 30-40 bracket, and likely already 40 again by now, while seasonal resets only pull you down to 30. Anyone below 30 is there for a reason, and that reason is likely being a complete sub-human retard.

I've yet to find any defensible use-case for the double-barrel shotgun. It's been out for a decent amount of time and it's STILL shit at killing anything other than fodder or deleting burgles specifically with a meme setup (and I don't even know if that's intended). Insane how bad it feels to use a weapon that should have been the easiest gun to get right.

The combat shotguns are quite good after the buffs, especially the blue one. They just don't feel great because their sound design is bad.

Instead it deals acceptable maniac damage up close, and shit damage to everything else at all ranges. My only annoyance with the dog is having to double-tap marking. There's no real reason or justification for it. If I'm marking as arbites, the dog IS going to be going at it. If someone sees the mark and kills it, the same end result... it's dead. It's just a minor inconvenience and more than once I've barely gotten the first team mark off but struggled to get the second off on something like a sniper who's doing some LOS cheesing while I'm busy in a horde.

It's relevant all the time since in Aurics people will usually just shovel all the ammo they can find down their throats so unless you're beating them to the chase you won't have grenade pickups anyway. People are (sometimes) more considerate in havoc, but that's where the regen is nicer as you already mentioned anyway.
But I will agree it is ultimately QoL, not mandatory or anything. I just enjoy it more than the dog's utility, even if the dog is also fun.

The weird part is that this should be possible if you just hard code a pre-determined trajectory that every client uses, rubber band some anchor point (likely the torso) to a moving point on that line, and gradually increase "air resistance" of each limb segment until it's dialed in near the point of impact, then release all the limbs so it bounces off the floor while the torso remains where it should be. Then you can just give it the usual stand up animation with minimal morphing jank.
The most complicated part would be deriving a ragdoll from the live model, but that tech is literally already in the engine, else you wouldn't have death ragdolls in the first place. Unless those are a different entity somehow, but it doesn't feel that way in the game.

I know everyone loves to shit on UE5 and call it a bad engine, but I've only had major performance issues on triple A slop games developed by slop companies putting out slop products because half their staff is aposematic-haired HR trooners.
Apparently Palworld is UE5, and while it doesn't run quite as well as I would like for its graphical style, it runs fine enough. It's (barely, but still) playable on Steam Deck, and that is effectively a potato by today's standards. TES:Oblivion also runs hotter than it should, but it still runs fine. I haven't heard any performance complaints from my Satisfactory friends, but I don't know what hardware they're running.

I don't know there are a fair number of B-rate live service games and that "newly worth billions" target is often the result of over-investment on a cresting new release.

If they'd delayed Darktide until was in the state it's in today and then invested in a 2-year follow-up ramp with, let's say, 4 new marks, 2 new weapons, and 2 new maps on a monthly basis, they'd have had a shot at the success Helldivers 2 found.

But they play it extremely safe and do this release-and-fix then janitorial release thing, and what's sad is they still came so close to belly-up during covid that they flopped to ownership by Tencent.

Now all of the notable public-facing talent aside from Jesper Kyd has left and they're probably floundering just as hard on their UE5 game. You can use the energized heavy as a discount power sword against hordes and kill them at a reasonable rate, and contact stray elites in the middle while you do so.
If you can't afford the vulnerability of an energized contact, use regular heavies. it has a heavy strikedown mixed in which makes it slightly better at picking through elites as you mindlessly spam heavies, throwing them around with the first two swings then bopping with the third
If you want the strikedown energized heavy for crushers/monsters, you need to push first.
There is little reason to use its light attacks outside a quick interrupt or bulwark opener.

There shouldn't be any "starting" to fight it. The fight should be over within like 15 seconds because you should be built to utterly rape human captains. Ogryn, arbitrator and zealot all apply damage amp debuffs that work team-wide, and most teams have two of those classes, who should use those things.

Irrelevant with any class that can buy time. Zealot stun grenades + chorus and arbitrator shock mines are the premier choices here.

Again, you didn't specify a map, but I have to assume this is a team-wide skill issue. Positioning is important. It wouldn't kill you to quickly ping spam a safe-ish location, and maybe push to talk real quick to yell "back back back, follow [your color] ping"

NTA but tac axe more or less requires that you build heavily into crit, finesse, weakspot damage etc. to truly shine, and I think investing into melee on vet is a meme for the most part. Tac axe is so good however, that it might make up for it. I haven't played around with it on nu vet.

The brown one has a nice heavy/light (or the other way around, I don't recall) diagonal cleave combo. You put Brutal Momentum on it to deal with hordes, and Headtaker for strength, which also gives more cleave.

You stick close to whoever has the biggest cock to swing around in melee and handle that shit for you, and shoot everything else dead. If you need room, you yell CADIA really loudly and everyone falls over. If you need more room, you either have frags in aurics, or a teammate handling that in havoc. Power sword should be your fallback for when all else fails, which might include killing armored enemies if your gun can't deal with them (which is most builds).
Also you can block while activating it. It's janky, I think you have to start blocking before you activate it, and I recommend running a stamina curio or otherwise some block efficiency perks.

Genuinely, if you struggle with it, that means either that you still need to get used to it, or that you're forcing melee too much on a shooty class and are thus running a meme build. However, honestly, power sword is the most powerful "melee vet" gets imo, because it requires no investment, and becomes very strong with like ... that one +10% melee speed node. That's all you need lol.

I understand that damnation just doesn't have the enemy density to justify it. Flamer is also dogshit there. That doesn't make those weapons bad in the grown-up difficulties.
