>Thread QuestionDespite the screenshot in the OP, I believe the developers had a very outsider-looking-in perspective on Fallouts 1 and 2 (and other games from that era from Bioware, Black Isle and Interplay).In a previous thread I made the mistake of calling this perspective a libertarian one, I don't think that's quite accurate, even if I feel tempted to name it so, and I wasn't impressed by the politics-brained types that were summoned by doing so.This sober perspective on factions, groups, tribes, and other individuals makes for better game design in general, because it allows the player to remain an independent individual amongst all the things he faces and that reflects the passage through life everyone takes if they're not burdened by illusions and shadows.You can still join things like the Brotherhood of Steel, of course, but I always got the impression you weren't really supposed to throw in with factions except in order to gain something out of them.

This is very niche, but, I like CRPGs, because, I can cheat and give myself max stats and max skills, and instead of the game being boring, I am opened to many many possibilities. I find this charming, like the devs cared. In an action game 'max health max damage' is enough to make the game boring. CRPGs are the only genre that even cheating is still interesting.

you pick domains for domain powers not spells. its just one spell slot you can spontaneously convert. they have some nice ones stealing from the mage school, but the only time i have ever, ever meaningfully needed a specific domain spell was 2e cleric of knowledge for identify so my sorcerer didnt have to waste a spell pick on it
