I'm probably hallucinating but the laser cannon doesn't feel as effective against squids as it does against other factions. It's probably because you have to track targets with it, and squid units are pretty small aside from fleshmobs.

I am once again recommending Flash Hider + Red Dot Sight Mk2 for shooting assault rifles and SMGs in first person. Grip is whatever suits your fancy. It's actually quite comfy and lets you be more precise since you're not getting blinded by your muzzle flashes while shooting for prolonged times.

I took the autocannon on squids just to break up my eruptor rut I was stuck in. Turns out on flak mode it's just a beefier eruptor, but I did enjoy taking a different primary for a change. I think you still need to take mg sentry, if you go shotgun for voteless, jetpack overseers are ludicrously hard to take out. I think a primary dedicated to overseers (deadeye, amendment, reprimand) and gas nades and sentries or low cooldown reds are better for voteless while the AC takes out fleshmobs, harvesters, distant groups, and landed ships.
