Tails: Kid Sonic, a Kid following and trying to be like Sonic but is still a kid that has yet to reach his true potential. Knuckles: Anti-Sonic, the Mountain that counters the Wind. Shadow: Dark Sonic, the shadow he casts. Silver: Light Sonic, the light of hope he emits. As Light Sonic, Silver embodies Sonic's sense of justice and drive to do what's right, saving anyone in danger and fighting for a peaceful world. These aspects in and of themselves align harmoniously with the "Guardian" aspect of Knuckles. Knuckles and Blaze being Guardians is the contrast against Sonic's freedom, but Sonic is known as a Hero because of his own will to protect the things that matter to him and save anyone in need. Sonic rejects responsibility, yet paradoxically he is extremely responsible whilst basking in absolute freedom. This is what Silver represents. As a result, it's easier to compare him to Knuckles and Blaze, then it is for Sonic to compare to either them, despite Silver being another Sonic himself.
