I'm genuinely really happy that Deltarune isn't more like a traditional (J)RPG. I'm actually really glad it ditches a lot of RPG shit in favor of focusing on the bullet hell and ACT stuff, since 90% of RPGs are "Spam attack OR your strongest move."Other problem with a lot of RPGs is how elemental systems are put in, but it's hard to actually care about them or think how an item that gives you resistance to one effect out of like 20+ is something that actually matters.You could joke that Deltarune also does this, and you would be right... but also it gives you an item (two actually) that VERY EXPLICITLY are meant to be slapped on because the next boss/enemies matter regarding it. Most other RPGs kind of just give you an item that's 'resist fire' and then you see fire attacks maybe 1-2 times total.Maybe I'm just sour on these '3-4 party members in a line' RPGs because RPGs that focus on the environment + movement + space, showing more clearly what you're up against, and better planning out how/when you get items has soured me on those other ones. Hate playing a game and the best action is effectively 'use basic attack'...
