The initial hype phase probably lasted twice as long as lagiacrus even if it didn't reach the same highs so in other words people stuck around for longer which makes sense because there was more grind this time. Thinking about it from a function standpoint, there's no real need for LS, SA, CB, and LBG. Really IG is a better LS, GL is a better CB, SA really serves no specific purpose, and Bow is a better LBG. Imagine the resources they could save if they just removed these weapons but they can't because ironically they're some of the most popular. This is why we'll never get new weapons. I think they should at least radically redesign them to actually fit into the game properly but then people would bitch so what's the point really? You can power up the shield in sns mode and then place the shield on the ground like a trap and it'll explode like a huge mine when monsters run over it. I think that's pretty unique and gives CB more of a role especially as a wakeup weapon. Lay it down and put bombs on top and then have the GS player set it off. Maybe buff attack speed or power when you have it set so the player can still do good damage with the sword. Just adjust values so it's not too OP. Seems fun actually I'd actually pick up CB regularly and gives a reason to use bombs again.
