Haven't touched Vermintide 2 in years, as you can see in pic related, but I've gotten the urge to dive back in.
If I remember correctly, I think I stopped playing shortly after Fatshit gave all players temporary free access to the Shadows over Bögenhafen maps in 2018.
Can I get a QRD on how much (or how little) the game has improved since I stopped playing?
One thing I particularly want to know is if they've fixed the loot system to make it less grindy and timewasting. I vaguely remember something about red dust.
Also, how much (or how little) have they sanctioned from the modded realm that you can play in the official realm? I remember it took Fatshark ages to approve anything from the modded realm.
On a final note, I notice the game has accumulated a ton of DLC since 2018, all of which seem to be bundled as part of a Legacy Collection that is currently on sale. Is the collection as a whole worth it or is it filled with a lot of useless shit?

Much of it is complaining, but if we truly didn't like the game, we would just play something else instead of caring enough to voice our opinions. The fact that bots are even capable of accidentally ledging (regardless of how common or rare you think it happens) when enemies don't do that is proof that Fatshark deliberately designed to be weak and retarded.
These are bots.
They could be designed to have perfect aim, perfect dodges, perfect movement and wallhacks. Obviously, I'm not saying Fatshark should do that, as that would be overpowered, but I'm just saying that it's possible to make them that way.
So there's nothing stopping Fatshark from at least making them able to traverse terrain with a 100% guaranteed chance of never accidentally ledging.
There's also nothing stopping Fatshark from doing what other games do with NPC companions when they accidentally fall into lethal holes, which is to have them respawn right back on safe ground.
Fatshark deliberately did not provide bots with any of these basic courtesies.

What I suspect (but haven't confirmed) is that they didn't paint certain parts of the map with flags to indicate it's a ledge so the AI literally cannot detect it shouldn't jump off a cliff there
For whatever reason a lot of flags and triggers like that are manually set rather than being dynamically determined - presumably it's more efficient that way, but it also means that the devs need to not fuck up when they're building maps (Fatshark challenge: impossible)

no way, i can clear full book legend runs solo with bots no problem and they can dodge dance monsters almost perfectly better than most players, they can even hold their own in cata while i sometimes have trouble carrying retards in legend
i recently played a few games on cata solo with bots and it went way smoother then i expected, i even had sott bot keep a Stormvermin aggroed to it solo at the barn in Against the Grain while i was dealing with the horde, even managed to do Skittergate with them and the hardest part of that by far was the final boss

Fewer things are more demoralizing in VT2 than to have your run completely fail because the game's shitty server disconnects mere seconds before you enter the Bridge of Shadows. I have played DRG, it was fun but I do like Darktide as well.
I do 100% need to play more of DRG though, and since Darktide is in a massive content drought, might as well try that.

For me the main reason why I ever bought darktide was purely because I could play as an ogryn. I've always liked games where I get to be the giant ogre who hits hard and protects the team.
When I saw in the trailers that you could play as an ogryn I was fucking sold and wanted to buy Darktide.
Is Darktide perfect however? No, it's far from it but at this point most of the issues the game had have been addressed and fixed (even if slowly) and Fatshark as a developer has massive issues.
Only things I'm annoyed by currently is the lack of new maps, new enemies + enemy factions and then new weapons.
Last map we got was Clandestium Gloriana, and then within 3 years of DT life span we've only gotten 2 new enemies.

I think it would benefit greatly from being more forgiving at the start and having more QoL especially in online play. I know it goes against the whole roguelike feel of the game but it sucks when you play with your friends and one of them ends up dying to a trap/boulder/oneshot by high level monster and you end up vaccuuming all the levels and gear to yourself while they are permanently gimped.
In similar fashion the endgame (atleast solo) is WAY too easy and i ended up basically rushing the exit on the last zone because i already had best gear possible and couldnt be bothered to pick up items or fight stuff anymore.
Also completely agree the combat is kinda janky and i hope they rework it (alongside stealth its so easy to abuse once you know how it works)

I actually got to level cap on my main before I realized that poxwalkers were different than normal enemies or whatever. I'm sure it adds a layer of visual complexity that makes the game feel less cheap but I haven't made a single mechanic decision as a result of the """mixed hordes."Y You want enough rending to take down carapace enemies anyway, so I've never spared it any thought. Honestly I prefer it this way since I like the idea of shooting at a bunch of Lost & Damned, but with how the game is structured around having multiple "factions" (Scabs and Dregs, technically) my wishful thinking would have been that we'd get other guys at some point.
Truth however is all that we' can hope to get is the Genestealer Cult "second hive" DLC in couple years that will be mostly reskinned Dregs with couple of specials (welcome back Beastmen). I mean this isn't a gotcha or a contest for you to even concede in but that's genuinely the reason for a lot of stupid decisions in modern games. Mourningstar exists as a hub solely so other people can look at your cosmetics. You can't private a game alone because nobody will look at your cosmetics. Bots are generic and bad so you want to play with other people and they will stand out.
The worst part is it's proven to work, just as FOMO and other scummy practices are.

99.9% of conflicts are resolved through diplomacy. And the ground fights always have phasers set to stun. Also The Borg/ spaceship fighting would be a better premise for a Star Fox clone.

It is extremely good because you can build it as if it were a sniper rifle.
Take Deadshot on vet, piss mark's left node as a stamina engine, 1-2 stamina curios according to taste, and put the aimed crit blessing on the boltgun. It annihilates most things in 1-2 headshots except crushers, which I think need 2-3 now depending on your build. Not that you should shoot crushers anyway.
If you care enough, vet can also fix the swap speed issue. And the reload speed issue. And definitely the ammo issue.
The next best user is Arbitrator which turns it into a brutally effective magdump boss deleter, with the 20 and 30% unyielding damage in the class.
Zealot can also use it to brutal effectiveness, at least in aurics, with the right keystone. I don't think zealot should be using it in havoc anymore, personally.

Finally did it solo on Outbreak. Once I heard a Corruption right outside the elevator door I knew I had to not fuck it up. Thought I'd get fucked at the end of it when the elevator door broke, but I repaired it and just threw water grenades just in case. Also got an Exotic out of it so fuck yeah.

It's insane on Vet. Take Focus Target or run it with lots of crit like the other anon suggested. I do disagree with the other anon in that shooting Crushers with it is fine on Vet so long as you're hitting the head. Just don't mag dump and miss a ton of shots when 3-4 would have sufficed. It bodies almost all other elites and does good monster damage to boot.

Zealot shouldn't have been using it in S1 of Havoc. Unless it was really strong for some season I missed, it wasn't a good pick on Zealot ever for Havoc. Too ammo hungry in a mode where there's not enough ammo. The Bolt Pistol was a much better pick if you wanted to run something other than flamer.

Arguably true, though I wouldn't want to encourage building a habit to shot crushers when every havoc vet should be krakking them, if there's a healer nearby, or using melee to preserve ammo.
Granted, I am somewhat assuming that the vet is running a meta melee like power sword, so it'll obviously be different on some builds. Then again, if you're in auric, there aren't enough crushers for you to run out of kraks with most good builds, so you can rely on those anyway.

I doubt the anon was asking about Havoc though. If he's talking about issues with the thing's swap speed and ammo economy, Havoc is probably still a ways off for him, if he ever decides to bother with it.

True, it is often a waste to just start unloading on Crushers when you could Krak them. That said, running something like a Bolter is a good opportunity to use Shredders, if someone's so inclined, because your gun already handles armored elites and monsters so well. Having the CC and AOE from Shredders pairs nicely with Bolter in Aurics. It's how I've predominantly run my Bolter setup, and the new health value didn't change that for me.
