Quest controllers you have to do it with your left hand otherwise it brings up the meta menu and doesn't take the screenshot. It'll take two screenshots. Lighthouse tracking has been used for games and movies for a while now where a full motion capture suit isn't required, but I've read that now the higher end IMU trackers are starting to get used in game production. Dunno, maybe some new anon will find it surprising - this is what your computer does every single frame, and then separately for every single avatar you see in game. More draw calls, more GPU sadness. Though one thing I didn't realize is that outline is a separate fake mesh with its own separate draw call, I guess that's where joining meshes helps a bit.

It's designed for use on MMDs where there's like 50 materials and each one is a 64x64 texture that's just a belt buckle or something. For booths, textures are already pre-atlased, they have the entire jacket/pants/etc assembly on one texture most of the time. If you're mixing and matching parts it's way better to assemble a new UV.

decent resoniting resoniters. They did in fact fix the performance. Even with a bunch of shit in the world it ran as well as vrchat runs (mostly full FPS with dips as stuff loads in.Charitably, I think the rest of the game is about comparable with vrchat too, once you get used to its way of doing things and where they put all settings and shit in the menu. If you're used to vrchat though it does grate pretty hard--those constant "ooh, why the fuck did they do it this way?" or "why can't I do this simple thing X" feelings you get when switching between any two complex programs. But I think if you stick to simple stuff like just sitting around and chatting, taking photos, watching videos, it works just as well as vrchat does--better since you don't need to paypig for vrc+ prints or whatever.However if you're doing anything more complex, it's still extremely complicated and pretty unstable. I had like 6 crashes to desktop. Hopefully they can focus on stability now, plus making the UI less grating to people used to vrchat.

I was rereading the kind streamer anon's post about video hosting and (if my interpretation is correct) it sounds like the most elegant/scalable solution is via some cheap or local storage plugged into a CDN. You also mentioned google cloud works, but I'm going to take this a step further: what exactly is wrong with just hosting on google drive? An account gets 15gb free and it seems to work just fine on standard vrc video players. Is it a security issue? Will google auto copyright strike my chinktoons even though it's my personal storage? will the link suddenly break when more than 3 people are watching? You can easily screw up a prefab if you'll merge/remove the wrong thing, and you'll obviously lose the original version if your project contains multiple avatars using same base/asset you're modifying. Regardless, it's a good trick, glad you've found it out. didn't even consider it a trick, it was always a default behavior for me
