A lot of the most level-headed complaints I see about Engage's writing seem to agree on a common element: it didn't go into enough depth on one thing or another. That's its only real flaw, it's not deep. It had to be rewritten to get a lower age rating, so probably some good details got lost in that process, but we'll never know, though now we have the manga telling the story in a better way at least.
