I think that after all of these years, that Desire Dungeon is one of the best eroge around. Anyways, I think games allow for kinds of storytelling that aren't possible in traditional formats, but I would never say that writing is secondary to gameplay in those kinds of narrative-focused games. If anything, it's the gameplay playing a supporting role in the presentation of a story that could still probably be fine standalone. To tie this into h-games, if something with an emphasis on story like Dragon Conquista got turned into a doujin, I'd still like it. But if something that relies on gameplay like Succubus Duel got turned into a doujin, it wouldn't be the same experience at all, and I wouldn't care because the appeal of playing MTG against succubi is gone now.
