I started playing WuWa on Sept 19. I just finished the newest story quest yesterday. I am 100% in every Rinascita zone except Septimont and 90%+ in all Huanglong zones. I got Iuno and her weapon and Jiyan and his weapon. I am fully F2P. Once I finish up the last few area/exploration/companion quests, am I basically in maintenance mode? Just logging in once a week to do weekly stuff and waiting for each new patch? I absolutely love this game, the story, the characters, the combat, etc, and I have had a ton of fun playing this past month but it seems like there isnt an endgame really outside of trying to farm perfect echos to kill the Tactical Hologram bosses faster.

Just make Christopher the protagonist at this point. He had nothing but standout moments and never took an L, while the Rover's performance this patch can only be described as pathetic.1: Kati's fake death could fool the Leviathan, but not Christopher. Every move was part of his script. Christopher's brain is literally bigger than a god's.2: The Rover, supposed main character, did nothing outside the Scriptwriter's plan. As the "Blank One," they still couldn't break free from the narrative. The Scriptwriter waves a hand, and poof—the Rover gets dragged into the Black Tide with no counterplay, needing Gabe to save them.3: The "ensemble cast" feels completely forced. A bunch of characters who've never met suddenly coordinate like a well-oiled team and have a happy reunion? The final battle where everyone gangs up on the Leviathan was so cringey and "justice prevails," and the Rover had zero standout moments.4: The finale's budget was clearly scraping the bottom of the barrel. Screen time was wildly uneven: Gabe got the most, followed by Canta, Sun/Moon, Corintha, and Brant. Everyone else was basically a background prop with no lines.5: Scar got massively buffed, while Qiuyuan was a total joke. He kept bragging about "taking Scar's head with one strike," but even with the entire Linaxita squad, they couldn't measure up to Scar and Frollo as a duo.6: To force this "ensemble" narrative, the writers lobotomized the Rover. They emphasized how crucial the Civilization Casket was, yet the Rover just casually wore it on their belt, letting the False God King snatch it—only for some blonde NPC to retrieve it. That NPC even got a better "breaking fate" arc than the Rover.7: The final battle was embarrassingly low-budget. Youhu, yangyang and yuanwu can be used in very specific contexts (like wiwa buff abuse). Buling seems to be a solid healer/support better than verina in some comps.

The start of the story (jinzhou) is super rough though (around 6 hours) due to late rewrites from the CBT. English VA since around 1.3 is one of the best in gacha, but jp is generally the standard. The safest unity is shorekeeper, and any new dps will undoubtedly be strong, but what you need to see is the level of investment required. Some like augusta can use fully f2p teams, while others will want full 5* team and weapons.
