I want to share a hypothesis.My belief is that Tangle and Whisper being added to Speed Battle was the attempt by at least SOA to see if these characters would be worthwhile additions to the brand and if IDW should be more integrated. When this failed SEGA essentially deemed IDW unimportant. You'll notice after this point the social media stops promoting the comic entirely. You start seeing massive delays constantly. These characters stop being promoted by the higher ups and instead by the creatives on the projects directly

It's been used to turn ugly actors or characters into beautiful characters to use as a form of critique on the original thing. I know this is probably stupid (and I'll get flamed by you-know-who for this) but I need to say this about Tails and Amy because nobody else will and it's bothering me.The thing is, and the documents literally confirm this, they're BOTH defined by Sonic. They're both his earliest companions, both inspired by him, both trying to earn his respect. That's... actually why they'd work together, right? They understand that specific struggle in ways nobody else can.Amy is positioned as the 3rd between Tails (the 2nd) and Knuckles (the 4th). She's this middle point. Not quite a sidekick, not quite a nuisance. And Tails and Amy actually have more established friendship than Tails and Knuckles, which has literally nothing. The extended media at least tries with them. Riders, some moments in Archie and IDW. There's actual foundation to work with. Some of the comic staff post about it too.They could help each other move beyond just being Sonic's companions...I just think they're underrated and it makes me sad that nobody explores this. I remember back when Archie was ongoing and shipping them was frequent, it really makes me wish Karl Bollers got to execute his original vision for the couple...
