It's a common problem with Owlcat characters, you have to actively metagame in order to justify taking certain companions with you since 90% of character concepts would never, ever do so under any circumstances. Marazhai is another example of this same problem. Owlcat writers don't bother to give actual reasoning and justification to take these characters, they just stick the companion flag on them and call it a day. Can't expect any kind of real craftsmanship or excellence out of slavs to begin with, though.

Lawful Good is basically being a paranoid lawtist (won't intervene to save slaves because slavery is lawful, won't intervene to save a kid because the soldiers are rightful authorities despite clearly being hysterical, executes everyone rather than giving them a fair trial, Hulrun, Iomadae, and Galfrey are all LG). Neutral Good are naive and cringy in the extreme (see Ember). Chaotic Good is just maximum unfunny cringe (the whole Azata path). Lawful Neutral wants to freeze the universe in stasis, wants to eliminate all fun, and will literally die if it tells a joke. Chaotic Neutral is unfunny cringe like the Azata, but at least it has edge to it. Meanwhile, the evil paths are represented by devils, demons, and liches. It gets the best characters in the form of Regil, Daeren, and Camellia.

I've had that game on my wishlist for almost a decade at this point. It kept bouncing around development, and now it seems like what came out isn't very good. (example, Spiritual Weapon, a 2nd level divine spell vs Mordenkainen's Sword, a 7th level wizard spell).The designers have also gone on to admit that they don't balance the game correctly because they wanted to make sure iconic spells like "Fireball" broke the rules and did extra damage.

BG1 is level 1-8 or so, BG2 starts there and continues the story.They're almost exactly the same gameplay, graphic style, etc. BG2 has more companion reactivity and bants and stuff, but if you like one you'll like the other.I would recommend to start with BG1 and import your character into BG2.
