>Are mystery dungeon games allowed in this thread?
Generally yes, most mystery dungeon games(Shiren the Wanderer, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Etrian Mystery Dungeon, etc.) can be considered roguelikes too
>Is Elin/Elona allowed?
Yes, they are roguelikes. Please do not post your Little Sister farms
>Is Dwarf Fortress allowed?
If it's adventure mode, yes, that could be considered a roguelike, the same can't be said about its other modes though

Yeah, maybe.
I don't have the recipes for it, though, so I'm stuck with slime, plant, rat, octopussy.

How does alternating work/improve? Am I at risk of crossing the threshold if I do too much slime mutagen? I couldn't figure out what serum vs mutagen was, but I kind of guessed the serum was how you chose to cross the threshold.
>>
>>543619857
In Bright Nights btw
inb4 roguelites btw
>>
>>543619857
yeah, serum is twice or three times as powerful for twice the input and can put you over the threshold randomly but requires a syringe, while mutagen takes up a lot of volume and mass but can be drank straight and won't ever put you over the threshold

Ahhh. Slime mut is pretty cheap at least. But I really would like to get those purifier shots put together. There's a shit ton at the sarcophagus, I guess. all right, i figured it out. you put the no filter lower, and then you enable it when unloading from the truck. disable it and sort again to sort things into piles.
>>
>>543622162
I've got a hazmat and an ANBC too, but I don't like the looks of that encumbrance. I'll keep an eye on my rad levels and just come back if I need em.
>>
>>543622950
the encumbrance is fine for what you get in my opinion
the AEP suit is important for dealing with things like fungaloids and anything else that attacks environmental armor like the cold
>>
>>543622474
Zone: Dump will take anything that doesn't have a filter zone to go into nearby

>>543622213
Awww shit son, all that for 10 encumb?? And I can put my survivor helmet back on? Say less son.

God, I hate how I miss all these episodes. I spend a few minutes scrolling through my recipes every so often anyways but it seems like all the good stuff gets past me.
I'm gonna see if I can put together a laser rifle or improved magnetic rifle to replace my coilgun before I go, I keep putting that off. It's pretty solid anyways, but there ought to be something better, right?
>>
>>543623203
Ah, no helmet. Oh well. Still pretty snazzy.
>>
>>543623203
>there ought to be something better, right?
there is not. at least, not something you can build in a shed
the rail rifle is pretty close but is heavy and loud and single shot. think of it like a crossbow that makes things explode
laser rifles you can loot are close but don't have the armor penetration of the coilgun
I haven't found the H&K G20 railgun yet but it looks pretty good
>>543623326
you can wear a helmet with the AEP suit

>>
>>543623717
that's not even the selling point of the AEP suit, the survivor suits are better than that. the AEP suit is great because it keeps you dry, has partial radiation protection as well as 6 acid protection and 9 environmental protection

DDA is so easy you can get mid tier loot in like 2 days. Besdies, when you're inside your death mobile nothing can harm you.

It's literally just a perfectly good farm. Like, all the chimkens ran off but that's about it. Still shepp and cow and honse and steam engines and an honest to god harvester for the fields. There's a pond off in the NE. Instant homestead, damn.

...Found 60 40x grenades in a supply drop on the way to the sarcophagus. Big detour. Krabgeks are magical creatures but they don't drop anything and butchering them is like butchering a human, which are just a different variant of "dare you desecrate a fellow human's remains for regular meat/fat by products that you already have in spades?"

I wish I didn't have to go looking through the source files for this info, though.
>>
>>543626358
Practically chewed my fingers off trying to look up how mutations work on the Discord and seeing "idk it's not a good system" "how does everyone handle it then?" "lol savescum, just alt+F4 if you get bad muts" the last time someone asked.
Absolutely bucknasty motherfuckers with no respect for the laws of nature.
(Long ass pseudo-RPGs like this and Qud should have saves in- Tome even does, and though it's not as long as an eternal Cata playthrough can be, it's nowhere half as buggy, huh?)
>>
>>543626683
So we're clipping leddit posts to crusade against the Idpol Scare? Literal McCarthy ass
>>
>>543628986
Mutations are a thing I personally highly dislike. The playstyle is just too overpowered and the idea is boring.
I personally like playing a purist human and just surviving in a dying world.

However yeah, do not bother with the Discord. The people there are more racist and hostile than 4chan.
Kevin unironically tried making it so your files corrupted if you tried save-scumming. But it was so overwhelmingly negative, even for him, that they reverted the change, lol.

Yeah, this is a retarded quest that shows how broken the factions are in dda.
Basically a random dude from the Refugee Center will tell you to go check or give something to the owners of this farm.
Only ONCE you get the quest do the NPCs spawn. And even if there is no one there looting and doing stuff counts as stealing. It's really dumb.

It's two z-levels deep and after the first construction operation I couldn't figure out how to build downstairs again.

The first one needed no items in the tile and open dirt. The second one, I'm sitting staring at rock floors and solid rock wall in every direction and I'm trying to figure out how to dig down one more time, and I'm thinking maybe I can construct something and deconstruct it, right?

But first
Since I can make C-4
Just for fun, I try some C-4.
"Maybe it'll turn it into dirt or a pit or something- Some guy said you could spread gravel to make stuff craftable and that tracks with the kind of broken paths Cataclysm has to construct stuff"

Anyways, C-4 blows holes inbetween z-levels and there's a sarcophagus code down here so I guess I can open another one if I find it.

Gonna see if I can wire some solar to the grid here and get the elevator powered.

Finally! I can craft an anvil.

what suspense. first, i was driving along the edge of this highway, next to a city. It's a narrow path between the highway barriers and the city, a road is there, but there were massive hordes all on it. I weaved and dodged, pulling them behind me. There was no way i could go back that way so.. i went under the highway bridge, and smashed down the highway dividers. I was planning to smash all the way through, but, a portal storm hit halfway. So I got on the freeway, drove until I got an exit, then did a night raid on this home improvement megastore.

There we are, that's the take. Figure I need a new base to sort all this junk into.
The dam would've been cool and thematic but honestly I need more space. Not sure where to move, I just know I don't have the space- I've got 2,000L of storage space in the hoopty so this is three trips, at least. The real pain in the ass is gonna be picking up all my shit out of the basement (I really could've just moved in to the first floor but there was a furnace in the basement I wanted to use without zombies seeing me through the windows on the first night and it snowballed)

I dunno that any of these locations are more or less convenient than another, at this point. Maybe I'll go check out that light industry attached to the warehouse/data/medical/powersubstation, that's a weirdly complete area- I've heard light industry locations have some machines that can process planks/etc better? I found a workshop with planers and stuff early on but didn't realize I'd just get machine parts if I disassembled them.

The gameplay loop for the only real "goal" is going up and down a river wearing crutches for a while to become a legendary swimmer and crutch-walker (you have full combat capability and mobility as long as you have a sword, shield, and crutch equipped in one arm) going to towns to ask kings for quests to kill bogeymen, then using the reputation from that to go to forts and convince double digits of soldiers to join your party and storm a megabeast's lair. It sounds cooler than it is
I've heard you can find caves that go to the cavern lair but they're probably really rare

Having a hard time choosing between the Hub gear or the heavy ballistic vest. Bit hard to determine which one is better since all the armor inserts both have make it difficult to tell how good they actually are.
For reference the heavy ballistic vest has all of its armor inserts damaged slightly while the hub armor inserts are pristine so the vest should have even higher armor values if I repair them.
Wearing Hub gear drops dodge by 0.2 while wearing the vest drops it by 1.

really doesnt matter, but if you are autotraveling in cdda and the autosave happens, it appears to do one single turn in the middle of the autosave. i noticed i moved a single square in the middle of a large save.
really the only reason im even mentioning this is because this would happen in S.T.A.L.K.E.R shadows of cherynoble. when moving between maps, while loading, the game would resume from pause for like half a second, depending on your load speed and system specs. youd see a flash during loading and see enemies spawn into the area behind the load trigger and ive had a blood sucker lunge at me during this. technically, you could possible die during the map change.

Also been playing Abdi.

At first my goal was to get a win with every culture, class and god. The last of each category for me were morlock, upuat and azhdaha.
think there are many good cultures but, when it comes to class and god, some options are just so much better than others.
Ranged weapon classes like peltast and abdi just work wonders. They aren't as dependent on tanking and getting good room generation as melee builds and they are way faster than stand still and summoning builds. I can just right click a bunch of times and clear the room.
For god I think apophis is easily my favourite. Amazing stats, prayers that recharge very quickly, more health on divine intervention, a prayer that gets rid of debuffs that could destroy a build. It's great.

It's funny that on C32 I'm getting win after win far more easily than I did before, often the very first time I attempt a prestige.

My current goal is getting more prestiges and also I've been trying to get wins with equipment I hadn't used so much before. I noticed like half of my wins had the red axe, which I do believe is the best melee weapon in the game, it's insane that the healing and extra attacks work without requiring you to 2hand it. Now I'm trying to use equipment that I rarely pick, especially the loot from beyond the astral wall.

wow. turrets are really good.
i tried to get that auto-aiming thing set up, but it needs a specific part (turret control unit) and it's bugged - if you remove a turret control unit from another vehicle, it provides camera controls, not turret controls.
also, turret kills don't give you EXP for bombastic perks.

Throughout these C32 wins I'm also *consistently* having more trouble with the astral dungeon than with the king. I think it is because astral dungeons tend to be packed with small enemies with a ton of speed that shoot you from the other side of the map. Thinking of the fey archers (hate those fuckers), the red eyes, the blue eyes or the gold demons and the yellow queen.

Ranged weapon builds with lots of Aim tend to have great single target damage but are lacking in mass damage. Frostpulse went really well here and since Apophis gets you super high strength by the late game you can have it without limiting your speed at all.

you need to activate your pickaxe to remove a tile of rock wall so that you have a fresh rock floor to perform the "mine downstair" operation, which is different from the "dig downstair" operation

Maximal kek, I didn't realize that specifically (all I know is that the number is how far the sound travels from your position), but I dunno if I'd have had the same conception

Fun fact: Apparently there's only one type of scent in the game- Yours -despite the fact that scent CAN be handed multiple parameters for what type of animal can track it, etc. There's some deeply ingrained problem in that only one type of scent can be on a tile at a time.

I was thinking of "just anything that shows up in these that's good" but yeah. I basically ended up only leaving behind the sewer water and all the clothing/electronics/empty barrels.
(I might come back for a few empty barrels though)

The plutonium slurry can be fairly readily converted to plutonium fuel cells and then (primarily) into plutonium batteries from there. The limit I guess is that tin cans are hard to get ahold of and at 5 cans per craft it's kind of a bitch- Gives 5 cells but that's still a half hour per opened medium tin can/empty canister, no batch savings. (those are the only ones we can craft???)
Looks like regional dumps, schools and hotels should net me a good chunk though. Or this mansion down to the south I've been meaning to get to.

I normally play Abdi with Skeleton as my race and take Asi Malak. The points in Astral fix your range and negative starting resistance so you end up tanky as fuck. It does require 2H, but sometimes it's worth it since you can get extra range on any weapon.

>Ranged weapon classes like peltast and abdi just work wonders. They aren't as dependent on tanking and getting good room generation as melee builds and they are way faster than stand still and summoning builds.
A lot of stand still and summoning builds are just boring and/or weak for C32, but fwiw you can play projection as a built-in range 4 weapon too. It gets an extra hit per level so it's effectively just pressing space instead of tab to "attack" with your stand still build, and since it shows you when you hit an enemy, you also get maphacks. It can even be a prayer build if your god lets you pray constantly to activate it.

The other ranged build to try out is unarmed. You can make it have as much range as you want and stack pugilism + herja levels to get dumb amounts of damage.

Did some experimenting
I figured it out, fuck it's byzantine and opaque. So I tried ramps, but those can only go UP from wherever you are (or down to an already started ramp)

I figured out that the gravel guy was right, you CAN pour gravel on the floor and then "remove gravel to show dirt" because that second recipe presupposes that the gravel floor was built over a dirt floor (but the gravel can be poured over anything) and THAT gets you a dirt floor which you CAN build a downstairs into

(I also figured out that I fucked up earlier, I dropped a tree on asphalt and spent 8 hours and some materials digging a "downstairs" on the dirt it revealed when I could've just use my jackhammer; Activating it on an open air asphalt tile WILL dig a hole), pictured SW, which you can climb in and out of

But the CLEAR WINNER is the unhelpfully named "Quarry Ground Away" which... Is apt, if not helpful.
Literally just point this bad boy at an intact rock wall and bob's your uncle.

Very interesting
>It does require 2H, but sometimes it's worth it since you can get extra range on any weapon.
I still don't like that the chakram has no extra effects. The jade pilum can reliably get you many more attacks. And it would only need 2 or 3 levels in asi malak.
>The other ranged build to try out is unarmed. You can make it have as much range as you want and stack pugilism + herja levels to get dumb amounts of damage.
You'd also need that psychic skill that increases range of bare fists. Ranged bare fists + pugilism + aim + whatever else does sound really good. You will need a bare fist weapon or Oros though, but oros is a good god all around.

Just had a blood-drinker win and I think that skeleton is the best culture for this prestige to compensate for the poor resistances. It has a ton of healing so albaz was kinda wasted.
I did luck out with the astral dungeon being blood and the king being death, both elements to which I had peak resistance thanks to skills and massive strength.
>>
That high master bleed plus the jade veil later meant that anybody attacking me got instakilled. Pretty funny and worked great against masses of small enemies.

To keep CBMs in the game when they removed all futuristic parallel-history content. Now CBMs are made by alternate reality weirdos on the run from the blob.
Basically they were removing a bunch of Whales stuff for "muh realism" purposes, but knew players would flat-out riot if bionics were taken out, so the Exodii are their solution.
>>
>>543771034
That's the worst way to keep bionics in the game
>>
>>543771763

>>
>>543772087
I remember arguing with those bastards about it, but Kevin of course always swung his shriveled cheesy dick around to get his way whenever there was any pushback to his stupid ideas.
>>
>>543774392
I don't begrudge him that, personally. I dislike what they did, but he's project lead and it's his prerogative. I've been in that position before, and it's a huge, thankless, pain-in-the-ass job built on herding cats, and the one perk about it is you can sometimes put your foot down and steer the project in the direction you'd prefer to see.

I just kinda wish BN had gotten more attention so DDA wasn't as much of the 900 lb gorilla of Cataclysm as it still is today.
>>
>>543775092
In principle I don't begrudge the idea of being project lead and using your authority to ensure the project goes well. My problem is the combination of the fact that he was trying to pave over the original tone/setting of the world (imagine someone coming in and trying to turn, I dunno, Halo into a fantasy game,) and the fact that he just outright has bad ideas and refuses to listen to criticism. A project lead can certainly be held responsible for his tastes making the project worse, even if strictly speaking he has the 'right' to implement them.

because of pulping being made tedious, so their reasoning is that now pulping is a difficulty hurdle rather than a chore.
No rez mods from back in the day still work somewhat, just that the "emerging from ground" zombies will be bugged.
>>
>>543778731
my car is pretty light so i usually have to run back and forth a bunch of times.
>>543779848
it was always tedious, though? it's not especially difficult now, either. at a whopping athletics 3 i pulp most everything in seconds, no athletics proficiencies. if a zombie is 5 or more tiles away i can pulp before they get here. there's some tedium in actually doing it, and then there's tedium in quartering the acidic ones or the big ones that are slow to pulp.
the only difference is that if you start with 0 athletics, it takes 2-3 minutes at first. but athletics is the easiest skill to raise.

Yeah, in open source land that's what a fork is. If enough devs agree with you then the old guy ends up all by himself. But there's a fair bit of inertia and the game with more players will also gather more new devs because devs usually are players first, so it's not perfect, but that's the option.

No way to know(in-game wise) other than testing and looking at your character screen for changes. They all can have random passive or active effects ranging. From passive stat increases or doubling hunger rate, to making a loud noise when activated or making the sun disappear. If you ever see the shadow snakes or summon snakes then that indicates theres a location nearby
>>
>>543841258
Mutations are the blob shoving weird alien physics and biology into our universe. They don't come from our reality, so the DDA team doesn't care if they don't match our reality.

They removed bionics because those don't make sense as commonplace items in our present day world; on the other hand, an experimental dimensional-gate research lab that caused the cataclysm should have tools devised for that work, so you get the anchors and shit there, but you don't find them in military surplus stores or bank vaults or whatever.

If you tried to remove those secret labs the setting would need to be rebuilt from the ground up, whereas moving bionics to Exodii merely inconveniences players, so that's an easy win for the anti-fun police.

Ok I think I had enough with ranged builds, plus I think I have run out of prestiges that work with that. I mean, stacking aim ad infinitum can make pretty much anything work but I'd rather not ignore a prestige's abilities, that'd be no fun.

This stand still starjumper build worked out extremely well, but I did have issues with healing which I had to supplement by using the red axe, something I'd rather avoid if possible because it's just too good of a weapon. I thought roil and projection could work to heal me but most enemies would die before the hit was done. Maybe more projection levels would have made that work.
Beith nochti is insane as always, the martial tree is busted as everybody knows.
Basically every room was the same
>stand still
>kill every mook in the level
>stack about 200-300 meditate and inflame
>stand still again to get rid of the strong mooks that survived the first hit if there are any
King and astral dungeon boss all went down in one stand still.
I think the blue dungeon is one of the hardest ones and I had 0% ice resistance, plus the freezing is bad for a standstill build, and yet I pulled it off just fine.

Earlier attempt at starjumper using ape instead of qamar didn't go well at all. More tanky but way too little single target damage, got btfo by r*bak.

Looking a bit enviously at some of these RV/Ambulance sized vehicles.

I'm thinking about upgrading- I'd probably wanna expand the one I have by one row, since I just recently tuned it up and fully repaired every part.

But maybe I should just bite the bullet and hop into one of these APC type military vehicles hanging around? I've got mechanics way up high, so I don't think there's anything I can't bang together.

What are the must haves in the mobile deathmobile, bros? I've got a dozen solar panels, a reactor and large storage batteries for days. A freezer, a charger, a workbench, built in arc welder and I think a kitchenbuddy is a good start? That's like 5 slots spoken for already. God, I wish you could park a car in another car. I've been thinking about building a foldable frame bicycle for shorter trips, I think I'll put a freezer in at my base and then do that, drive over to the megastore and grab one of those military vehicles.

metal rams are also easy and fast, they protect your engine and the other parts too

so experimental cdda as of now:
>highways are cool, i like them a lot

>autodriving in general is a lot better. rarely ever crashes now, drives 40+ on straightaways
>zoom in/out while autodriving is something we should have had LONG ago
>new npcs and questlines are kino
>MoM changes suck bigly. teleporter is straight useless, i grinded up to level 10 and i can't even use it wearing only my armor at max stamina and focus - let alone in a real combat situation. maybe you need max meditation, but i never found a way to raise it above 3: it seems those books are quite rare now.
>npc base management is still clunky and weird. you want them to craft? make them follow you until they stand next to the workbench then C-A-C. do it every day when you wake up.
>npc combat is.... better? they run and leave you to die if things get even a little spicy, but at least they aren't suiciding into hordes anymore.

how's BN in comparison? especially the qol like zooming while autodriving. last i checked you couldn't even g grab all around, you had to always specify a direction... ended up using AIM most of the time which is so clunky
>>
>>543934523
How is AIM clunky? I find it very intuitive most of the time
>>
>>543932931
there's no such thing, don't be tricked
>>
>>543932931
A well worn tire.
>>
>>543934920
you're not wrong. it's intuitive enough and i use it too.
but it takes more keystrokes compared to the grab menu for things like wielding and picking up. that's why i call it clunky. those are things you do a lot. for example, suppose you take out two large storage batteries, one is in good shape, the other one breaks into 2 mediums. i want to wield the large and put the mediums in my inventory. i press g to show all items around, then w on the large battery (RET to put away your weapon if you had one out), down with j to the medium, then l-RET to pick up the mediums. now i'm carrying all of the batteries. how would you do that with AIM?
>>
>>543936547
it could even be faster.
g - w - ,
grab menu for all around, wield the large storage battery (possibly navigate to it), pick up everything else.
AIM has that as well but you need to be changing the destination and moving back and forth
>>
>>543936547
I would press g to pickup and then select all the items I wanted to pick up and the game would automatically shove as many items as possible into the inventory before asking me if I want to wield the remainder, and offering a menu to choose where to stash my current wield.

If they're in multiple squares for some reason, sure. I've got to do extra pickup actions; You can only use AIM for wearables and not wieldables currently in BN, yeah.
>>
>>543937886
that's another thing. last i played BN, it didn't even let you grab from all around. what the hell? you do that all the time. sometimes yeah you want to specify a direction, but 90% of the time you are picking up from all the nearby squares.

you end up doing something like, a shopping cart, or zones+autoloot, when all you really wanted to do is grab the antiseptic and blankets
>>
>>543938506
AMI is usually what I do if I'm looting into my inventory, or onto my square if I need to haul.

I think the only thing it's missing is direct wielding, desu.
>>

Food and water are everywhere it seems so I don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing since 'survive' isn't really a sufficient goal.

that's stone soup but I did 15 run + zig as a human conjurer of vehumet. I train magic to get my important spells to below 10% failure, then put it all on survivability. I had 27 fighting, 25 dodging, 19 shields, 11 armor at the end of the game. Fighting gives HP which is good. Dodging and shields are really good, I used a staff and buckler. Armor skill ac increased is based on the base armor of what you're wearing so its better with heavier armor I think. I only have 4 wins in DCSS so not an expert, although I have done 15 rune + 1 ziggurat on both melee and magic characters. Try to find spells to cover single target nuking, aoe, and survivability (mystic blast and blink are my main ones)

>>
>>543996687
It affects lots of vegetables, it's the origin of the "kids hate greens" meme.
It also varies in strength. For example I love beets but I can't stand beet greens. I can tell it's the same flavor I'm tasting, it's just much stronger and eventually I can't take it anymore.

>>543997018
i always thought that was just because kids/babies taste buds were still forming. like babies dont taste salt for 5 months (dont get ideas ya sick fucks). anyways, taste is weird. like i love pizza, but hate stringy cheese, so a pizza where the cheese strings is nasty to me. or i hate cotton candy, or jam filled doughnuts, even if i like jam or sweet stuff. ive eaten enough stuff in my life i can tell within 99% certianity just by looking/smelling something if im gonna like/hate something (but ill try it anyways, im not a picky bastard). im one of the cilantro guys, but ill still eat salsa with it in it. it just not as good with it.
>>
>>543999731
It's very complicated intentionally, it's a benefit to the group if everyone has different dietary preferences.
For example I'm one of the cilantro tasters, it tastes like soap to me, but I LIKE the taste of soap(I also enjoy stinkbug smells and grass clipping) so I enjoy it anyway! it just tastes different to me than most people so I have to alter the recipe because the secondary flavorings people use don't match what I'm tasting.
>>
>>544000062
was about to say the fuck is wrong with you, but then i remembered i like musk candy, which is a perfume ingredient, and before synthetic musk was invented, was collected from male deer gland, which is like a sac between the butthole and the pee hole or something. so i cant complain. deer taint tastes pretty great apparently.

There was a group of breathers in a lab, which for some reason passively release hot air 4 into their surroundings. This makes things very hot, very quickly. Despite having a liquid cooling suit AND the thermal dissipation CBN, I still couldn't stay in there for more than 100 turns without my character taking severe damage to all limbs.

Cue a skeletal juggernaut showing up. He breaks some walls down, allowing me to hit the breathers from the ground floor (outside) with a spear. Great! So I start wacking these things, thinking maybe I can cull them down, but I quickly realize their rate of reproduction is incredibly high, you basically have to snipe the spawner because they split like once every 5 seconds. Although... I did notice my melee and piercing skill going up. After killing pic related breathers, my melee was 9 and piercing skill was 8. At this point the skeletal jugg actually managed to trample the real breather, and the lab eventually cleared of hot air. I killed the juggernaut, again, from the ground floor (his attacks were suprisingly weak against my heavy survivor armor, and I started looting the lab as normal. Already found plating CBNs and an autoclave!

the parking lot can have 15-30 cars, if you want to use the welding gear to start a deathmobile or grind your mechanics. only other thing not mentioned was the gas tank. can sometimes be like 150 gallons next to the garages
>>
You know in Cata I like attaching a super-fast motorcycle to my deathmobile to deploy when actually raiding a city, but I wish I was limited less by a one-tile thick line of racks, like actually being able to have a big truck with a trailer for hauling cars of whatever.
>>
>>544092923
well, theres the tow cable and heavy tow cable
>>
>>544093341
I've tried that before, but it constantly snaps if you make sharp turns, and it limits your speed quite severely. It's only really good for moving a smaller vehicle to somewhere safer for salvage, rather than for hauling another vehicle around with you that's more maneuverable/designed for a different environment (like having a boat on a trailer or a deployable mini-copter or plane.)
>>
>>544093906
well i was thinking about that earlier. remote control, you set the lead car to be fully remote control with cameras, and you sit in the following car. when you need to stop, slow down, swap to controlling the towed car and slow down. yeah i know what a nigtmare, but i wonder if it works.

other idea, the towed car has no wheels, just dragging a sled, so its constantly braking? you could have 3 or so 3 width/1 depth cars so you could tow storage and attach a bike and not worry about having it slam in the back of your dragulaaaaaa

every picture i see from it people are so wildly overpowered its crazy. by the time i got to that stage in dda, years would of passed and i would of long gotten bored, and my map file would be hilariously large. and the changes they complain about and say "go to BN for" are things like "cant get a years worth of food from a single action", or "cant read 20 books and go from amatuer to brain surgeon in 6 hours", so i kinda think so. ill try it once im bored of dda tho

>>544128060
>the changes they complain about and say "go to BN for" are things like "cant get a years worth of food from a single action", or "cant read 20 books and go from amatuer to brain surgeon in 6 hours"
I have literally never seen any complaints that sound like that. It's usually "they took out [cool sci-fi element] I liked" or "they nerfed melee/martial arts to near uselessness" or "you can't run a single city block without getting winded and needing to stop and rest unless you invest in expensive and annoying-to-use bionics or mutations"
>>
>>544111285
The "end" in BN has never made sense to me. It's the post-apocalypse. You can't just blow up a single portal and say you've won, shit's still fucked.
For me, an "endgame quest" in Cataclysm would be building a settlement, defending it, and settling down, confident that your tiny speck of civilization is going to be able to survive. So really just quitting out of boredom, but formalized.

>zombies
>significantly less intelligent
Are you suggesting they're intelligent now?
Really, I think the core of my issue with this is that I always found the
>The zombies are an extension of an evil alien slime from an another dimension that's trying to take over the Earth!
story to be incredibly lame. It reduces what could be an eldritch Lovecraftian monster, an alien lifeform that's eradicated humanity without any awareness that we even exist, into basically just some guy. The wicked blob king, sitting on his blob throne in the blob dimension, sending his troops over the dimensional bridge because he's wicked. Cut him off, and the monsters will scatter like orcs without the driving will of Sauron.
There's nothing wrong with Sauron as a villain, but conquest is a human motive. There isn't really a need for it here. The blob could just as easily be a lifeform comparable to bacteria, mindlessly duplicating itself. Earth animals provide suitable conditions for its life processes, so that's where it grows. Humanity didn't anger some interdimensional god, we just stuck our dicks too deeps and caught alien syphilis. Any signs of intelligent design in zombie evolution could just be remnants of human intelligence. Zombies mastering the symbiote to make themselves stronger, rather than the other way around.
Or maybe it has a degree of intelligence, without such an obvious and easily understood motive as taking over the world. The zombies are growing bone armour because the alien is trying to modify itself to better handle the local laws of physics, but that doesn't mean it knows or even cares that humans are trying to fight it. Does it know what death is? Does it perceive the passage of time?

>>
The difficulty argument is such a non starter for all three forks. I've played DDA, TLG, and BN. You definitely become OP much faster in BN, but in TLG and DDA, once you find a working car that's basically your win con anyway, since you can just arbitrarily drive around until you run over a zombie soldier and get a gun, at which point you can safely kill almost any zombie. If a town is too big/not useful, same thing, just drive around until you find a smaller/more useful town.

In the end, the difficulty only really matters for getting fucked by ferals or zombie dogs in the first hour. (And this is assuming you start in a real scenario, not the evacuation shelter like a complete pussy.)

Once you get past that initial stage, you can just grind skills for am arbitrarily long amount of time and get the best craftable equipment.

For what it's worth the BoL and other limited res items are significantly worse than the Adventure mode res because you don't get to go to a safe zone to restore your sustained abilities. Personally I view them as 50% of an extra life each. In a lot of situations they really don't help when your character relies on half a dozen abilities that are now on cooldown to survive.

I wondered actually, and I think it's probably one of the lower prestige ones- iirc the worst is like... The Zealot? Or whichever one that just gets like, one extra prayer on entry, not the guy who does prismatic damage on prayer. Acolyte or something, worst as far as achievements for wins goes at least.

Anyways, on kill is probably one of the weaker triggers in the game. Pop open Powers menu and search for "on kill" and you only have a handful of them in prestige to look at.
Dial it in even further, search for anything using an <x> tile range. 2 tile range for regular damage in an AOE is likewise kind of mid. Other prestiges are applying status stacks at 3+ range, or doing damage at range via simpler triggers like "on step" or getting their stacks (like Evasion) by dealing any damage instance.

Killing a guy for 2 charge is a shit bargain, yeah. I think the dev vastly over valued a fixed 2-tile AOE damage pulse and 2 charge.
The only other prestige that has on kill trigger and 2-tile AOE is fucking Horrorform. And that's fucking HORRORFORM, half of its "on kill" trigger is a downside to try and slow down fucking Horrorform. Bolga takes the "occasional downside" of one of the fastest scaling prestiges in the game and tries to only play around triggering that.

Those abilities don't magically go off cooldown when you die. Pretty normal to spend all your survivabilities/infusions before dying.
Also the main tool to go below 0 is Heroism which got nerfed repeatedly (no longer gives stats, no longer stacks with itself) so now it is just a bad shield rune.

Why shouldn't they?
There's literally a spell, Contingency, that DOES do this. A handful of others that react to going below a health threshold or taking an arbitrarily large hit.

If you're not going to use Breath of Life or the Undead prestige/Skeleton revive, why not decide that 100 health is the new zero? Or that if a hit that could've killed you if it'd maxrolled lands, you uninstall. Or maybe even if you dodge a killer hit, you might not have dodged it otherwise, right? You were in a position where you could've died THAT TURN. Checkmate Conduct, atheists lose.

I think you guys are doing it wrong. Bolga is a minion bomber class. The 2 range AoE pulse isn't for killing enemies. It's for killing your own minions and dealing damage on minion death. If you get it right, the damage loops back and forth so every enemy killed causes another minion to die which kills another enemy.
>>
>>544168614
I can't help but to petulantly remark that I've done plenty of minion bombing builds without Bolga and that it sounds like hot ass still
But yeah, I guess so. Thanks anon

The King of Many Colors is a FUCKING CAMPER. I can't move because his arbiters have 10,000 inflame stacks and they will one shot me with their teleport attack when I take a step, but the king is just sitting there shooting my minions instead of walking forward.

Minion builds really do get screwed on higher cycles. I won with this build before but when this shit happens it just makes me wish I had an attack build instead.

One time I spent dozens and dozens of turns fighting one variant.
I forget what the exact problem was- I think it was that he would summon allies and I couldn't not kill them and that would heal him for a massive chunk of his health.
So I ended up having to kite him away from the demons he was spawning, though they'd frequently wander into range and reset my progress.

The problem is that I'm a minion bomber, not a minion build. I kill my minions and then instantly resummon them, so there are empty tiles for the arbiters to teleport to. A regular minion build would be preferable against arbiters.

This time I ownfaulted to a Jawhara that got an insanely bad spawn position at the end of a corridor the length of the ENTIRE map. It's hilariously bad map generation that just decided to screw me. He got 1282 inflame stacks from my Fulminant Cult spawning in at the start of the game, and I did not realize he would instantly take 3 divine interventions off me if I took one step. One mis-input and now I can't activate my abilities.

But that kinda points to the actual reason Bolga sucks. You can get a shitload of damage blowing up your own minions. This run I can probably one shot the King if I get him within 4 range to activate my Grave Cult on him. But there are a dozen different enemies in the game that get inflame stacks on player summon (including 1of the king KoMC variants), and it is ridiculously easy to get instantly game over'd by any of them in the course of a run. You don't even have a free school to tech in master scorch in an emergency if you get 600 stacks of scorch on you, so you can game over from that too. Or you can just game over from ranged enemies like Fae Snipers because you don't have defenses aside from a few thousand armor. I was trying to show the other guys that Bolga isn't as bad as they say, and I ended up convincing myself that actually yeah, Bolga just fucking sucks. Fuck this class.

Usually what I do is try to find an easy to access gunstore or pawn/museum (if I'm doing melee.) In the meantime I work on getting my crafting skills up to make beginner armor and weapons. First thing though is finding a good house to base in, either find a small town near a promising large town location that you can clear out (the typical four-six house little shithole) with good road access, one of the houses at the very edge of town with low spawns around, or a cabin in a convenient woodpatch. Though I remember one time I got stranded in a garage in the middle of town until I could thin them out enough to make an escape, that was fun.

you need to find a base
solar power, a refrigerator, a freezer, a large storage battery, and an oven all complement each other immensely and will save a bunch of wood chopping for cooking
start crafting your way up the fabrication skill and make a rock forge, charcoal kiln, smoking rack, and clay kiln out of rocks, sticks and dirt
find some clay to help with the above, and a swamp for bog iron

those are the necessities, basically

>map so far
the overmap tileset is missing things like "dense urban" and "bridge" which is surprising.

there's a survivor bunker to the NE.
I'm pretty beaten up because I went deep into the city and hit two libraries, a gun shop, a pharmacy, a craft shop, a pawn shop, and a bunch of houses. got some goodies but no blockbuster drops. biggest thing is, some SMGs and a gunsmith kit, tailor kit, halligan bar.

legit kinda insane how i was stomping hordes but then again i've never done dda with 6 melee and 14 strength. point buy is super generous in BN and starting as a prisoner gave me a lot of points, i put it all in melee and strength. so i can't repair my shit at all. at this point my riot shield is XX big rip, i love the shield. I have 461 kills.

i wish BN would separate the zoom settings for the map and the game view. if you zoom in/out on the map, it'll zoom in/out on your character. and that's really annoying, especially since the map always resets to a specific zoom when you open it. i play on a pretty big screen so i like to zoom in a lot and it just bugs me.
I also wish it would let me zoom in/out while driving. especially because of this map zoom bullshit.

I'm not sure where to put my base.

>>544221848

Melee in DDA sucks now, it's no fun and basically useless except when you don't have ranged
>>
>>544168614
IMO it's still not very good at that. Putting points into grave chant and necromancy is enough for killing minions (and can get you to kill minions more than 2 tiles away), and it doesn't actually help you do anything on minion death so you need to invest in that yourself. And after all that you still need to kill enemies to get the loop started in the first place since it doesn't proc off minion death.
>>
>>544223838
That one always pissed me off, I like the idea of chopping zombies up a lot more than plinking them with a gun from max view distance.
>>
>>544223348
>going all in on melee
not even necessary but I bet it made getting out of that prison way easier
I usually start with a level in fabrication and mechanics each because they're difficult to raise from zero
>survivor bunker
like a LMOE shelter? I'd set up there for sure
I can't read your tileset, I only know ASCII
that building in the forest adjacent to the road to your north looks tempting, as does the building in the middle of the forest right there, depending on what they are and if you've already cleared them of zombies
if you don't have any swamps you won't be able to get salt water and bog iron, which means you need to source all your steel from man-made sources
>halligan bar
oh fuck, that skips a ton of time on digging because it's almost as good as a shovel

if you've cleared that radio tower even that might be acceptable, the hard part is going to be keeping yourself fed and hydrated
do you have a source of water, or any containers?
>>
>>544224041

>radio tower
that's a negative, captain. radio tower i'm at now has a wasp queen. i don't know how she didn't notice me but i'm not going to stick around and give her a chance to.

>building in the forest
the one in the middle is the "survivor bunker", i'm guessing that's an LMOE. the one by the road is a dump.
my preference is to live in the city somewhere. Along those blue lines it's mostly clear.
if it's salt water i'll need... what about the radio tower (in the city)? aha, is that the one you meant, rather than the one i'm at now with the wasp? yes, that would be a good fit. it's also worth noting that i have the halligan bar, so i can base in somewhere like the gun shop and be safe behind brick/metal. i haven't seen any ferals to open doors. do ferals exist?
the main issue with the city radio tower is that there's a massive road wreck along that main road and it blocks nearly the entire road. so i won't be able to autodrive out of there at least not until i disassemble the wreck.
well, that's not the worst, but maybe i should grab what i need from the prison before i head into the base, then.

>fed and hydrated
water is tight, but should be okay: i have a plastic jerrycan. so i can boil some drinking water with that. Food is okay, I have a ton of food, including MREs from soldier zombies as well as stuff like chocolate and chips. i haven't picked up perishables much because i don't have a base with a freezer. i took 'hates vegetables' so it might be troublesome but animals seem very common. the plan is to eat stuff like jerky and candy until i get a freezer, then just lardmaxx.

>getting out of that prison way easier
yeah, it was a breeze. i haven't had such an easy start since... ever? then again in dda i usualy start as some sort of, turbojunkie cripple with 0 in every skill so having 6 melee (5 +1 from convict) was absolutely luxurious
>>
>>544224746
>>544223838
yeah melee in dda these days is basically... kite and kill them one at a time away from walls.
you can be 5 melee and have the best armor and you'll die to 3 generic zombies up against a wall that grapple you and crowd crush you before you can attack 3 times.

compared to that, i've actually been having a lot of fun with melee in BN. a big part of it is that the shield and baton and armor i got from the prison is really strong. but wood axe + shield is also fucking awesome.

i do miss things about dda. the qol. the pockets. the ui.

Being locked into Lightning/death is half the trouble

This is the second attempt on getting this run started and I've got basically everything I could want and I still don't know if it's gonna work out.
The early Jade Pilum gave it some oomf- Still had a sketchy go against those purple dragon bastard, forget their names.
Just now picking up the Kairos Skirt on the 8th round, halfway through the first area- Obvious incredible synergy with Secutor/Jade Bracers.

Spam standing still to rack up 60+ of all the martial stacks then wade out through your minions to deal Doom empowered multi-hit spam. Weird mixture of stand-still and attack (side step and attack till Kairos)

Some notable stopovers were Daruq/Sioc+Pilum, the Blight Cuirass and the Golden Greaves helping to get here.

Otoh "people work on the content they want to play with" and not "what the game needs"

Maybe tell people no, sometimes? Try encouraging posting a feature issue first, instead of going straight to a pull request.

I agree that if we're debloating plushie variants and toothbrushes and shit then we don't need to know what kind of sex toy we're dildoing our ass for morale with- The fact that the "vibrator" was obtuse enough that you could interpret it as a muscle relaxer vibrator was a feature, not an oversight.

Is there any reason to collect SD cards in BN? So far, I've picked up about six but they only have music and photos, no recipes or books.

also. uh, i may have lit this place on fire while torching open the safe. everything looks like metal, though, so wouldn't it be fine to sit in that autodoc?

and. what do i need to do to successfully install bionics? from what i remember, it was something like, healthcare + 1/2 (electronics + computers) x intelligence mod ? my odds seem not great

>>544223348
ended up staying in a generic house basement temporarily, the radio tower was swarming with z's. i picked this one (to the right of the red o on my map) because it had a fireplace i could boil water with. made 40 clean water and checked all my books, then went raiding. i looted a garage and had a little scuffle with bandits, nothing serious, but the garage gave me almost a thousand worth of acetylene. so i got my mechanics up to 2 and attached these cargo carriers.

heading over now to this science office tower that is right next to an augmentation clinic.

for one thing, it's was faster to swap weapons (w - a, w - b, for items hotkeyed as a and b). the sheath/draw mechanic needs a couple more presses and it's not always consistent so you can't just smash a few keys in a row knowing what they do, you need to wait for the menus and respond, it's not the worst but it does get a bit annoying when you're used to just w-c for the knife and BN pops up "draw blade from hiking backpack? use blade (hiking backpack)?" and if you just hit enter the first option is sheath blade so nothing happens, except your hotkey c is gone now.
so yeah pockets does sheath/draw better.

but i do like how i can carry a halligan bar now

>>544292838
It's Zangband -> hengband ->touhou ancestry, so....depends on your opinion of touhou. It's a lot like frog at a glance, with a ton of character selection options (literally play anyone from the non-pc98 cast) even if you make your own @. There's a world map, guns, danmaku and a few tweaks to resists and whatnot, but basically it's frog, but more Touhou and less Amber. I have the vague sense that it's not as hard, but I'm a very cautious player.

at 10 in all skills and 16 intelligence I was still getting dogshit success rates without a nurse bot
I recommend finding a nurse bot

>pockets does sheath/draw better
assign an inventory hotkey to the sheath/holster
press 'a' and then your inventory hotkey to draw from that sheath, and if you have an item already wielded it will prompt you to sheath that item in an appropriate location (the inventory letter for the appropriate sheath)
so for my current character I would press 'a' 'B' and it would draw my quarterstaff from my spear strap, and prompt me if I wanted to throw my crossbow onto the ground or store it in the MOLLE pack, which I would choose by pressing 'N'
if you activate an empty sheath it'll prompt you what to store in it, which you need to be careful with to make sure it's the right item but that's only necessary when going to empty hands for whatever reason
halligan bars can be stored in a MOLLE pack, which is very convenient and keeps it out of your general inventory which is nice

wow that's some good loot. guarded by a turret but lol it's only 9mm.

Can you dissect rotten corpses? I got this thing called a bionic scanner. But my first aid is shit so I keep botching the surgeries. I found one that has Blood Filter and that's pretty good. But from what I remember, zombie corpses rot pretty fast. I'd like to at least hit first aid 3 but I don't know if that would even matter.

how does mutation work in BN? i've found stuff like mutated arms and legs, but also serums (e.g. feline serum, bird serum).

anyway i can't explore much further than this because the game crashes. can't even get the stupid thing to print a stack trace.
basically, it hangs and uses all the system resources until i have to pkill it. probably some memory leak with a lua mod but how would I know? the debug functionality in BN is basically "join our discord"
>update
i finally got the thing to print a stack trace. basically, the fix is to use legacy pathfinding. works fine now. and I was able to get to the top of the tower, but, there are turrets and bots with 5.56 and shocker zombies so I plan to come back with ballistic gear. and grenades. I have throwing 0 so i hope I don't kms myself

>hiking backpack is on XX
you should be stacking up huge piles of rocks to make a rock forge from the construction menu and then getting your fabrication skill to whatever you need to start climbing the forging item tree, which basically gives you all the fabrication skill you need to finish it once you start it due to how long it takes to craft all the tools you need
then, make a sewing kit or tailors kit
the MOLLE pack has very limited storage capacity, I typically bring a duffel bag with me for looting
>>
finding an electric forge in an electronics store is also a very valid option and lets you repair metal items
>>
>>544314968
It's definitely one of the ways to spend your points of all time.
A lot of door forcing/safe cracking is contextual via E-xamine, it'll jump right to whatever suitable tool you have.
Rotting happens fast enough but you get plenty of XP from, ironically, dissecting. The big deal is to get a scalpel (or exacto at least) off a nurse.

Mutation right now aims for a (positive) point target of mutations. Get enough plain mutagen in you and you'll "mutate uncontrollably" gaining up to seven mutations.
Drink flavored mutagen willfully and you'll just grab a mutation from that tree (the Hitchiker's Guide has a link to mutation lists on the front page), serum will prime you to cross the "threshold" and unlock/lock you in to only getting that tree's "late game" mutations.

Prime/Elf-A/Medical are considered the "more advanced" categories with less crippling downsides.

Plut generators are kino- They don't burn through plutonium fuel cells like a minireactor does but it's infinite sauce once you deconstruct it and plug it into your grid with *

I'll save them then. the CRIT suit is... all right. it's a little better than the swat armor: it has better coverage (100% vs 95%), lower cut/bash/ballistic, but it has good fire/acid/env which is what i needed since most of the damage i take is from shockers and acid.
i don't think i'll keep it long term. You can probably get something for the acid as a skin layer, and you definitely want much better ballistic than 18 for your outer. But it's not like I have an NPC crafting kevlar jumpsuits.

>>544326945
i think that room with the 4 power plants was from CRIT. I thought the loot was pretty good when I first saw it, but most of that stuff showed up in other parts of the science tower later (e.g. laser rifle) so idk.
probably the thing that stands out the most are the reactors, there are four of them, but i can't do anything about them anyway since they need 6 electric to pick up.

I wouldn't mind removing the mod, but I don't know how the game will work if I do that.

BN runs a lot slower now. Does anyone know what the issue could be? It takes about 200ms to do a move, where it used to be instantaneous.

Also, are NPCs good for crafting in BN? they are great in DDA.

>be me, prison convict escapee
>cruising around the city looking for fellow survivors
>find four guys
>join chances 20-30%. failed 6 times in a row (~20% chance of happening).

What do I do to tune this thing up? It gets banged up pretty often.
I think I've got the infrastructure to print some carbon fiber frames, and then I guess stick some chitin plating on there? Are rams any good on bikes? I'm worried it'll bang up the rest of my vehicle if I stick a chitin ram on or something.

It gets pretty tough to move when I weigh it down, I can't even drag it- I figure there's only so much that can be done about that with pedal power? Will more wheels (maybe a 2x2?) help that or no? Are these the best wheels to use?

>>544344206
>I have a lot of loot in my car is that a problem
not in my experience, the thing that causes lag is hot air/cold air calculations and iterating through large quantities of monsters like a leech pod colony or what happens when a portal rift stays in the reality bubble for too long

How about I fuck your wife?
I was on a pretty long journey to scavenge together some parts, finally got a Robobench up and running

But no, this is the usual package. Really only slogs at the very top end of weight like that, and it DOES drag me down to like, 12km/h offroad speed at the worst.

But I think those shock absorbers are a great find! I dunno if... Are regular steel frames actually better at soaking collision damage, even with a lower durability than carbon fiber, because of their higher per-frame-weight? Or is "more weight, higher durability" just a general trend?
>>
>>544352112
no there's some fucky math where if you're going to be ramming things it's better to be heavy as fuck
I built a solar powered deathmobile that weighed over 15 tons and it could reliably ram hulks to death without damaging the solar array because it was absolutely covered in military composite plating and the contact surface was a heavy steel ram
if you're going to be hitting things you NEED to be heavy as fuck, which is the exact opposite of what a bicycle needs

I recommend the classic method of pic related, and swapping your offroad wheels for road wheels because you're never going to be managing to go offroad in that thing

I can never get "caster" builds past the King. The on-summon burst takes a chunk off his health bar but my abysmal speed means he gets to attack a few times and take me out.
Admittedly this Inuqqa setup I've been trying really wants the ice-damage-on-dealing-death-damage pants, but the Crystal Helm did surprisingly well. Not sure if it's better than Saafa (astral damage on gaining meditate) but I definitely got higher Meditate numbers than past attempts.

>I want to survive clipping cars at 80 miles an hour.
Good luck with that, but if you add armor plates or shock absorbers, those can absorb hits to other components of your bike. If you're really crashing at high speed, at least get a seatbelt on that thing to keep from flying off in an impact
>>
>>544353736
Literally just take like 60 points out of willpower, huff vigor to at least 10k life and get your minimum speed up from there.
Think about taking master freeze. Don't do star cult meditate bullshit, you have scaling redeal damage already, charge/meditate are excessive.

Rather than focus minimum speed yourself, you can avoid freezing yourself and just freeze the enemy. I don't think there are any good form loops available, but Priest might still be nice. Sorcerer is a solid angle of course but I'd pair it with a repray god. Like THE Worm or Agara.

for example, boil water, cook lard, that sort of thing
that's the thing they're most useful for. at least, in dda, where there's tons of obnoxiously long duration crafts. i can see it being less necessary in BN.

Vamp is tempting maybe, but it's only on a Spear, Singing Sword I think.

Crystal is an amazing form, you just have to take a few lvls in it and pair it with a god with easy charges.
I forgot the names but the race that buffs damage reduction with inflexibility, the background which increases inflexibility with dex and the god that buffs your off hand item is a very strong combination.

Does the retaliate hit bypass Crystal Form setting hit to 1? Crazy.

I meant form loops, like... Take Priest and then do something to swap forms a couple times, since each time you replace your form stack it gets another 50% buff.
The most obvious variation on that is Anqarak, but anything you can do to make it happen- Vineform or Jackal or something, idk. Crystal form is super strong I just have trouble getting the points into it a lot of the time too, with how expensive it is.

Kek, CDDA devs really don't test their stuff. Bombastic perks mod recently got an addition of "Closetlands" perks that you can use to teleport and attune to closets, but it comes with sleepy debuff when you're inside the closetspace so you can't just set up shop in your personal pocket dimension. The bug? The debuff doesn't get removed once you leave, you're getting extremely sleepy within an hour and gain sleepiness faster than sleeping can remove. Just checking the character info screen after getting out would've caught this, but apparently that's too much of a bother.

it's a shame, i like followers in dda. the way they are in BN, i'm not sure if it's worth getting one.
well, BN does things to make them less necessary, I guess. honestly in dda i don't feel comfortable without 2 fulltime crafting npcs. but in BN you don't have the long crafting times of dda. and you heal a lot faster, so something like "take over for a week while my legs heal" isn't so relevant. Still...

it was definitely cute in DDA when i had a rat mutant follower who would cook and make clothes for me. i made a big bed and she would be sleeping next to my pc when i woke up. but i mean, that's a fun thing to do once and then move on.

I vaguely remember the math checking out as wp being last and thus getting turbo cucked by Kairos.
Also you only need so much damage when you clear the room on enter :^}
>>
>>544410063
I honestly don't know which damage increase matters more, Willpower or Meditate, and Kairos Skirt causes Yu to increase my Meditate by 10% on every game turn
Now I don't have any non-Kairos builds to test it against, but in the past I've failed to clear the room on enter, but getting 30 extra summons on every kill thanks to Crow Hat I've on-entered Path of Dust up to floor 40 (got bored and quit)

Path of dust is boring as shit, wish I could automate it.

>>
>>544411063
On-enter builds are as automated as it gets lol. Could probably write a simple bot that hits Tab when you've cleared a room
Looking at the log I think that Willpower only multiplies the base damage, pre-Meditate, so these 15 base damage retorts are getting fuck all from it. Assuming you're doing Koszmar retorts as your main damage output, investing in Willpower or Flexibility just doesn't matter.

This asshole in the starting city had an entire Bow-Man kit sitting in his dresser this whole time
Fuck am I gonna do with 2 compound bows? This sucks, boo

That reminds me I learned to craft laser sights though, I should do that.
>>
>>544410913
Meditate and Charge are added on after Willpower. Willpower scales your regular Hits or "(do) Damage" values and it's strongest in redeal setups, where it double dips (example: If you redeal 25% of death damage as ice and deal 100 death damage, at 30 willpower you'll deal 400 Death hit then 100 x 4, 400 again. The 50% or 200% redeals are of course exponentially stronger)
>>
>>544413385
It should. Assuming you mean Stand Ground, not Technique.
Master Doom fills the same purpose here. Stand Ground sequences well with Astrohunting iirc
>>
Finally hit a King with enough health to tank my on-enter. I hit the Chundu and somewhere in those 30 Wisps he died, but the upper limit of this build is probably around here. Also likely depends on how many mooks spawn in the level to stack up Crow triggers.
>>544413385
>You need it for the summon slots anyways :^}
Once you've got the Death Staff only one or two summons escape the blender. Astrohunting's Lightning & Astral aoe on Stand Still might be enough but I haven't tried it.

I'm sure some build can do that even to the King, but I struggled on single target every time when I tried, so I did tank build to win with this god instead. It's much easier to get enough damage when you're not stuck with such a specific one turn win condition. Yu has the best form of counter damage too, since it works on ranged enemies instead of just melee ones.

6 electronics baby
I've just about cleared out this city. grabbed 5 mini-nukes (there are 30 at the top of the tower) and two of these plutonium generators. There are a few areas I haven't looted, like a school and a craft shop but I think it's time to move on.

Where to next? The refugee center is 500 tiles away. There are multiple military installations nearby, including a cataclysm++ bunker (i've never been strong enough to bust into that before), a military outpost, and a military silo.
ideally i'd like to progress the game and stop the cataclysm, but i haven't found any clues for that. The science tower didn't give me any hints, just loot, but I got directions to an underground lab. I could also try just driving around and looking for something like a TCL or a lab.
I could try training computers, so that I can hack into the terminals in the science tower. IIRC they have some lore, it might be needed to find out how to close the portal.

I was going to stay in this city longer and recruit some followers, but after testing (viz. >>544399487 ), i realized that the follower system in BN doesn't have the functions I wanted (principally: continue as follower & follower crafting). So I'm just going to leave them.
I cleared out the zombies around each area a survivor is in, so they should be safe even if I don't take them with me.

Tk2K5 or whatever on the Achra Discord has done the most pushing on Path of Dust. Long story short, more and more minions spawn as you go further- But that doesn't stop at a "reasonable" point and eventually the only build capable of pushing further has to have two things:
>Mura prestige
Because the Pearl Mirror will force room for itself to spawn, guaranteeing a non-enemy space and
>Plague
Because the dust creatures will gleefully stack every resistance to max
>>
>>544417721
I think one of the lab finales has the portal but also you probably have to do the Hub-01 questline?
Just guessing
>>
>>544419210
How do you get mura and plague?
I've done mura builds before but I can't fit plague into them.
>>
>>544420539
On further review I've mixed up some different conversations on the matter.
Mura/Ragna Axe/Humbaba is one of the best contenders for highest Dust runs right now, owing almost entirely to how quickly it clears (Full screen on enter builds that have to process hundreds of semi-recursive triggers work, but take ten times as long); The issue IS that you can't reliably not have a pack of Revenge enemies spawn next to you and no amount of defense (besides stacking DI refreshes and lucky kill order) can stop that from killing you.

The plague thing came from a different chat about what scenarios plague is ever actually good in and I got them mixed up a bit.

Plague can't dip into negatives, can it?

Start with 100% chance to disassemble an undamaged item's individual components, decrement it to .8 and then these powers for each 1/4 step down- this is rolled against each of the items you might get back, afaict.

Then uh...
Fuckin stupid, but you roll

2+(4*your relevant skill) dice that have 16+(your int) sides against...
(Disassembly difficulty) dice with 24 sides.
(24 sides for 16+"average int(8)"

And if you beat that number, you get that component.

I think.
So you've generally got a pretty good chance of getting the items anyways- A broken_secubot item has a difficulty of 6, so if you get your Electronics (that's the relevant skill btw) up to 6 you're rolling 26d24 against 6d24.
Lol, lmao even, am I right?

Pretty much you only have relevant material loss based on (always) the item damage level and (relatively) when you have abysmally low skills.

I think it stores the skills as whole integers and not like... 6/10. As sill as 26d24 sounds, 2.4d24 definitely isn't right.

Bizarre, looks like the alert for shutting down engines when you have "fuel saving mode" turned on.
BN doesn't have a way to set that for non-engine CBMs like nanobots, though, I don't think.
It just shouldn't fire if you're fully healed, not shut off. And you're probably not starving, though I can't be sure- I think in DDA that's hidden info and that "hunger" readout is just green based on if you've eaten a lot of food or not lately, calories are separate?
