Deluxe baits are very strong. They remove almost 3.5 seconds from your maximum bite delay compared to normal baits and almost a full second compared to wild baits (and challenge baits). Of course they're worse than challenge baits if you're good at fishing. They're also significantly easier to mass produce compared to wild baits (which are slightly better on high luck days but very marginally). Magnets are a thing, they're normal baits speed wise and they're just bad. Don't use them. Magic and targeted baits are situational.

Quality Bobber + Trap Bobber makes it easy to catch iridium lava eels for mad cash. Copper bars, sap, and solar essences are cheap, and the preserving enchantment makes them go farther.

Have got a ton of mods installed on my current run. Some of them feel a little bit cheaty, idk how I feel about them

Gives more quests and cutscenes which so far have felt canon-friendly. The rewards on the regular setting are way too much for the early game. Also, the mod is coded by retarded russians, so there's no way to set it so the difficult is medium and the reward money is low, which feels more balanced.

Makes it so you can have multiple daily quests per day. Had to turn the rewards down to half for this also.

Or whatever it's called. It adds professions at levels 15 and 20. Haven't reached those yet, but there are talent/skill trees that you can put points into. On the surface I DO like that the majority of these perks actually result in gameplay changes, but they feel very powerful. There's one branch that makes it so the soil is still watered the day after rainfall. It makes sense, when you think about it. If the rain persists throughout the night until morning, the crops SHOULD still be watered as the day begins. BUT, I had a particularly rainy spring, something like 5 days so far, so it felt like I didn't need to use my watering can at all. Currently at the end of week 3 and I have over 100 crops... and it's raining tomorrow...

I really love this one so far, having different types of weather really breathes new life into the game, and the actual unique mechanics that come with it seem balanced. For example, there's muddy rain which has a chance to fertilize some plots, or acid rain, which will destroy crops. The issue is that I think these events don't override normal rain, they just trigger separately, so you inevitability end up with more rainy days than you normally would. This coupled with the previous mod was what made me feel like the watering can became useless in the very first spring. I also don't know if I like the music it adds

On one hand, the music IS nice, but on the other, I love the vanilla SDV music so much I don't ever want to add to it unless it's Ape himself. It's one aspect that I feel is near perfect, and anyone adding in their own tracks just feels like they're sovlless by default even if it's really good and does have soul

This one is pretty good so far. It makes it so that there is a daily shift in price for all goods, with trends you can see, and prices you can affect by selling the items either in bulk or slowly. It's something I've wanted for the game for a long time. There are now cases where it could be barely profitable, or you could even lose money, on crops if their supply is very high. On this run, for example, parsnips were super highly supplies, so a base parsnip was selling for 14g while a sneed costed 20g. Meanwhile, the supply for SHALLOTS(cornucopia suite) was bottoming out, so when I sold a meager 15 of them or so, I got something like 2.5k for them when the sneed were about the same cost kale or whatever. The mod encourages polyculture because selling so much of one thing will tank the price, but there will also be cases where everything starts with low prices except for one or two types of crops and the season basically demands that you go mono. Fun so far. I hope it can keep me on my toes. However now I'm wondering if there's a crop quality depreciation mod, which is something I feel would work really well with this.

I like the increased variety, I'm excited to start a giga farm with a million different crops, I like how some of the base game crops, like trellis crops, were changed to become bushes with different growth times. You basically have to plant hops and blueberries halfway through spring to get solid harvests throughout summer, but a single bush is super expensive, upwards of 600 for different types. I managed to snag one of each summer bush for around 3.5k

I feel like it would be a little bit cheaty if I can use a sneed maker to just make more bushes though. Feels like circumventing the high cost by just buying one and propagating the sneeds from that bush is a little too 'easy', but then again, doing that basically asks for you to skip taking profit off of any of those type of crops in the first year. Hell, I'm not even sure a single blueberry bush would pay for itself, assuning 9 harvests of a full season, 9 blueberries might not get 600g depending on the price. But turning those 9 bluebs into 9+1 bushes means it cost you 600g to get 10 bushes, that's 60g per bush. Do that again, it's 6g per bush. Now you're on year 6 with a hundred bluebs that dont need to be watered and don't die ever because theyre bushes similar to tea saplings. That's virtually 1000000-1 profit-cost ratio. I did the math, trust me, that's what it is.

Vanilla Professions Plus is bad, bad, EXTREMELY BAD and it's enough to make me disregard the rest of your post. It's buggy (the Breeds Like Rabbits talent outright breaks night events like the giant stump and Jojamart lightning), it's busted as FUCK, the balance is absolute unbearable dogshit (the placement of talents on most trees regarding early or end game usefulness is completely non-sensical and the level 20 profession choices are all retarded, like an atk+def boost for every 100 rocks broken or... higher chance of mushroom floors? Fucking really?) and the vast majority of its mechanics are completely unexplained forcing you to use the incomplete Github to figure out what you're getting. Fuck this mod, Walk of Life for life.

Everything seems fine so far. It even auto redid the level 5 perks to match the modded ones so I don't have to revert back to level 4 to choose them
So apparently you can reset the skills multiple times once you reach 10 or 20? In order to eventually get all of the perks, but the issue with that is that you then have to put off mastering them until you do all the resets. Shouldn't be that grindy, as long as the xp needed doesnt continually increase when you reset

The talent tree was designed by a pure retard. What is the justification for not locking talents behind levels? Can modders really not into balance? I removed the mod to replace it with walk of life. I also got rid of 5k so that any amount of benefits I got from the mod were canceled out, but I feel like I should give away another 5k. How much money do you guys usually go into summer with? I had 50 strawbs and am basically going in with 20k at the moment, which is about normal for my playthroughs, but still. I cant exactly quantify how much I benefited from the talents for the couple weeks they were active

Weather wonders is great so far on my new run. First time using it. Some weather effects are purely aesthetic, like a slightly lighter version of rain or heavy mist. Others have mechanics with them. Spoiler if you want to be surprised. What I've seen so far is

So I just finished Emily's batch of higher res portrait redraws, only to realize after reviewing her dialogue files again that what I originally thought was three instances of her using her Yoba praying portrait was actually only a SINGLE line, that she can only say on a SINGLE morning of the year, if you're married to her and she's in the house. Same goes for her anger portrait which is only used once because every other result I got for the $a portrait code was actually other characters in cutscenes involving her

Feeling more and more like I gotta find the time to make a mod to add dialogue using these uncommon portraits at some point. Canon-Friendly Dialogue Expansion barely adds any. What seems like something that Emily would actually get angry about? Joja pollution?

Alright looks like sheepmaxxing is a pretty good choice for year 1 and especially for winter, currently in spring 4 year 2 and I made a total of 1.2mil, having consistent profits in winter was a nice change of pace, I was making around 16k a day from a barn of sheep, it's especially good because you can't really profit max from artisan before year 2, all the crops are shit not really worth processing
