I play customs in Infinite and turn off sprint. It is actually more fun to remove sprint and triple the base movement speed or even reduce it to Halo 3 levels. Sprint is not a required mechanic, and 343 needs to stop treating it like it's part of the trinity (weapons, grenades, melee). If jump height can be reduced and dual-wielding can be removed, than sprint can also be on the chopping block. It's not special. It's a mechanic someone added, just like everything else. And it can be removed or nerfed to oblivion. They already improved it in Infinite by nerfing it to almost nothing, and they can still take it one more step further if they wanted. Solution: Keep it in for the zoomers who can't live without out it, but make it do literally nothing except change your running animation (in a way that doesn't change the position of the hit boxes) and add a camera bob and speed lines and maybe even a very slight increase the FOV (Let's go with +3 or +5 FOV). It doesn't need to make you go fast, it just needs to give you the feeling of going fast to give the zoomers. You can even fake a slide mechanic that also doesn't do anything except change the first-person animation/post of the player without changing the hit boxes of the 3rd person animation.If RAGE 1 can add aim-down-sights without actually changing the mechanics of aiming (accuracy/handling is the exact same whether you ADS or don't), than so can Microsoft with its legions of AI employees. Literally just ask Bing/Chat GPT to program it for you, Microsoft.

It came out after 3 and ODST and Reach but looked worse than them or lazily reused assets from them. And there was disappointment at how there was no proper Live-enabled CE multiplayer (which at the time hadn't been done on a console yet), instead including a handful of Reach maps.
