I'm just a few episodes in, but we've already gone through otherwise emotional scenes that get hours of build up/foreshadowing and only happen after you've done enough random SoL with the characters to get invested like, 40 minutes in. And most of those 40 minutes were dedicated to introducing the many cast members instead of making you invested. You'd want the VN, as it loves to take its fucking time with plenty of long conversations and random convos every single day. A long conversation with dozens of lines of dialogue in the VN gets cut down just a few lines and happens real quick in the anime. (If it even happens at all)
