Note that even the games made in that era don't give Red-Eyes a dinosaur sub-type even though they give Crawling Dragon #2 a dragon sub-type. It's never been considered anything related to a dinosaur.
>>544117728The way damage was calculated in the manga was more complicated than that. damage dealt was equal to the modified winning monster power minus the losing monster original attack power. There were no debuffs applied due to type differences at least not in that duel. Now I don't really know remember about the intricacies of early yugioh video game types and attributes. The comment about dragons and dinosaurs being similar is just about theme and similarities between the creatures. type differences were brought very briefly but mostly ignored outside a few instances.

>>544119282No, it actually is that simple. A buff is +30% of the base stat and a debuff is -30%. Tiger Axe and Megasaurus had their field buffs cancelled out by the type disadvantage debuff because it was equal to the buff, not because damage is calculated based on base stats. The early Duel Monsters games also treat it like this. The Sacred Cards and Reshef are the only ones where the monster with the advantage can outright ignore the enemy's stats. In the earlier games it was a percentage buff like in the manga and they'd stack with field buffs and equips in the same way too. Those early DM games also had multiple sub-types that monsters could have on top of their main types that allowed them to be used as that sub-type for fusions and caused them to be affected by spells that affected those types exclusively. Red-Eyes was never a dinosaur sub-type in any of those games. The real card game has also never had Red-Eyes support that involves dinosaurs like it does for Warriors (because of Joey) or the monsters that Joey and Yugi fused with it.

Now like I said, I don't know about the video games calculating type damage and all that but from this conversation I can see why they dropped it.

It's already pretty much just a huge reference itself and I don't remember it having any original cards that could get printed, like Light Law Medium and Cornfield Coatl from DM3 or Talons of Shurilane from DM4 which got printed in the OCG fairly recently.
