>>544281318Eric and Aman commentating together, cool!
Why has Ding been throwing ever since he won the WC? Did he put too much pressure on himself? Seems like Ding is not chilling.
>>544282089I dunno. He was so fucking good. His Rg5 took balls of steel. And then boom, all the magic vanished.
>>544282242*Rg6
>>544282242Maybe he's missing the mentality of keeping the pressure on the neck when he's up. Maybe he's mentally tired which can lead to lack of conversions and vulnerabilities down the line. Depression is a bitch huh...
Will Ito take another title from Fujii, or will Fujii avoid a repeat of last year's Eio match and retain the Oza title?
How can anyone watch Hikaru's stream? He's insufferable.
>>544282682That's the neat thing, You don't! I think he captured the attention if drooling normies that want slop fed to them, he's only popular because he's a blabber mouth that feeds surface level noise commentary to chess.People should start classing "noise" youtubers because zoomers and boomers alike are using non-short-form content as background noise these days to numb themselves.
>>544282682>Hikaru's>insufferableyes
>>544282870He really shows chess is just a mental gimmick and you can be a total idiot and one of the greatest players of all time.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT DING???
>play well>get in time trouble>die instantly he's just like me...
it's over for ding
now that the dust has settled, was winning the world championship the worst thing to ever happen to ding in his life?
>>544282089He peaked at #2 FIDE classical, but couldn't maintain it and went down to like #20. I don't know what causes that compared to other players who were very consistent over many years.
I'm starting to actually like Hans, although I did originally think he might have cheated against Magnus. He actually is a top chess talent
>lose match>go home in shame>get beat with slipper
>>544283339Yeah it's very relatable kek.Sometimes if I play rapid or solve long puzzles, I start playing blitz incorrectly - actually calculating everything and getting crushing positions, but with way too much time usage, giving me insufficient time to convert without blundering
>>544283023Yeah. I mean, just look at how sub-amoeba level early AI dominated chess even before current data center and gov't aid nvidia GPU jerking trying to fasttrack a superAI. Just proves that although the emotional nuances of chess seems deep because odds can change on a whim and you always have to be cautious, objectively it might be better if you're a bit of an ignorant, pigheaded dumbass because you just relentlessly attack, calculate, use cheap gimmicks like being tricky while down, and rely on learned experience instead of being immersed in the feeling of playing chess.
>>544283531I've been really surprised with Hans. Like I recall thinking during that in-person computer tournament that even though Hans was getting wrecked, he was still getting wins against some of the best players in the world, and that impressed me.
>>544283514>weakmindI know this is a meme but intelligence isn't enough for a sport like this. He's too timid and overthinking. His attitude is actually causing him objective issues. Magnus is very intelligent but he's gives off more intuitive talent vibes than Ding who seems more a thinker, he doubts himself too much. Meanwhile Magnus stated before that he almost immediately has an instinctive knowledge of the next move and his "calculation" is just him checking if his instinct is right and if he missed anything. I think this is the right way instead of being overtly cautious.
Eric Hansen going hard on Ding lmao
yeah nah this is sad to watch and it's only gonna get saddergoodbye bros
When was the last time you opened and closed a window on another device while playing?Personally for me it’s never but curious about other experiences
>>544284192Goodbye Danya
>>544282682He can pull off some voodoo escape artist shit, that's undeniable. The way he can wiggle out of terrible positions is unparalleled.
>>544284474I sometimes have youtube open for music on my second monitor, but minimize the window to avoid distraction or lag. I might open it and then minimize it to change the song/playlist, adjust the volume, pause it, etc.
>>544284474Does it count if I was texting cat pictures with my friend while playing the other night? His kitties are so cute.
lol
>some players take a break and come back stronger>ding took a break and he's losing against everyoneWhat's the difference here? More poignantly, what is the mentality and other shit you need to take a break and come back stronger instead coming back washed and feeling like you're out of practice?
remember that time kramnik thought Hikaru was playing with the eval bar visible
Adoption paperwork getting processed.
>>544286345Adoption paperwork just got DINGED
>>544286095yeah, he's a bit of a goof. i think most of the danya stuff was sent to him by someone else that didn't want to expose themselves and thought they had a better shot with kramnik's "authority". he's a terrible presenter and all of the "evidence" is basically tainted now because it's associated with his boomer ass.
>>544286737Good for him. Fucking took long enough. I like Ding, but he's just not elite anymore.
Ooooh, good win by Ding on that one!
>>544286770A lot of the subsequent stuff Kramnik did, like the 'chesstrix' videos, were really embarrassing and made his imo legitimate concerns look like boomer paranoia
Ding is going to make a comeback now. I can feel it.
>>544287608Not so fast, chink! Hans said he's getting good vibrations for the next set!
>>544287608Now that he knows he can win, he might score 25% of the next games, but he's not on Hans's level right now
Is anyone else scheduled to play today, or is it only Hans/Ding?

>>544303240I’m proud of him. I don’t follow top level chess until the candidates starts. Does Hans have a path to qualifying for it?
>>544286095yeah that's kramnik's problem, he's so paranoid he attacked everyone and is such a boomer that he can't eveen imagine that there is a way to record the evaluation bar after the match and edit it for the youtube video later with the live footage from the stream then during his investigations he found the one real cheater who happens to be also incredibly worried about his reputation

>>544313159What I don't get is why foids, instead of grieving by themselves like a normal person, decides to "catch" the moment by turning on the camera the same way you reach for a hankerchief when you're about to sneeze. Why must the feel compelled to broadcast their moment of emotional turmoil?I would understand if it was see news>grief>calm down>decide to make tribute. If during that tribute you break down again, then ok, but it feels like a lot of women do this when they're already riled up instead of being solemn going into it. If it was a livestream it'd also be more understandable.

emil and vlad are simply reflecting the jewish mindset: it’s not wrong to slander someone. it’s not wrong to gain relevancy and views by falsely accusing someone repeatedly… what’s horrible is when friends of the deceased put up non-monetized videos where they are genuinely crying about losing a friend… that’s the fakeness that must be stamped out! typical up is down backwards bizarro logic we’ve had to deal with in chess for a long long time now.

>>544332310I guess that begs the question of what "can mate" means. Because the king cannot move anywhere on the next move. Do you just mean sufficient material, or could have mated from the previous postition, or what?also>>5443245101. f6 1-0
>>544334847That is stalemate bevause neither side can mate cos nolegal moves
>>544335296i know but if stalemate was checkmate as the anon proposed this would be a win for white
>>544324510this is fundamentally correct but it won't ever change because changing it would only benefit players who made an objective mistake.but you are right, and it is true that stalemate being a draw is fucking retarded logically speaking. but also, somehow it's a perfect rule for chess because it fits in with the whole "i am very smart" vibe that chess players love to give off"ackshually, you are very bad in comparison to me, and if you weren't so bad and stupid, this wouldn't have happened to you!! KEK!"
>>544336992Every game is a stalemate though. Whoever is more stale loses.
>>544337331>but you are right, and it is true that stalemate being a draw is fucking retarded logically speaking.True. It should be a win for the person getting stalemated since the other person is the one who made the mistake.
>>544338285This.
>>544338285nah. you already made more mistakes by getting your pieces in a position where you literally can't even make any moves without automatically losing the gameto my point about the "i am very smart" bit, chess players tend to frame stalemates like how you're doing and how this post did:>>544325008but, you could just as easily flip it on the person who can't move their pieces. why should they be rewarded with a draw? yes, the last person to make a move caused stalemate and therefore the stalemate is "their fault" in an immediate sense, but the fact is, you cannot move your pieces because you got owned to the point of... not being able to move your pieces. so why do you get rewarded with the avoidance of a loss? you deserve to lose even more than the other player "doesn't deserve to win"
>>544338774>you could just as easily flip itAnd since we can flip it endlessly, that's why it's a draw.

The time control is 5 hours per player, and the match is a best of 5 (tied at 2-2).The opening was double wing attack.

Anyone else think Carlsen is a dwarf version of the centre of the earth giants who found success among us rather than being a dwarf among giants? He's probably literally the worst chess player among his own people too.
>>544361476That's where game-analysis comes into play. Analyze the games that you lose and understand what your blunder was. If you were playing accurately and lost because you didn't see a bishop that was on the corner of the board, well then you know that you just need more practice absorbing and looking at the entire board-state. If you blundered because you miss-calculated a sequence of captures, you can work on that. Same with a missed tactic, do more puzzles, etc.Winning/Losing means nothing. Understanding where you went wrong (or where your opponent went wrong) is what matters for improvement. Before like 1500 games are won not by playing well, but by blundering less than your opponent.
>>544337331>>544336992>>544332310You have to be pretty bad to get this heated over accidental stalemate. It really should almost never happen. Literally just pay attention.
>>544361960btw this also matters for the games that you win. Sometimes you think you made a really good move that you thought about for a long time that you think was really good and think you won the game because of it, then you check the engine and realize that it was actually a blunder but your opponent was also huffing paint and it still worked out for you.
>>544362171I think it's a mistake to look at a move like that after the fact and beat yourself up about not finding the refutation. A move that is technically wrong or even outright losing according to the fish is still good in the moment depending on time control and your level. Like it may be bad but the reason it's bad is so hard to find it would require your opponent to tank several minutes of clock to work out. I try not to get upset about that in analysis. If the refutation is pretty simple and definitely something I should have found, yes, I label that as a big mistake and try to work on the blind spot in my calculation that caused it.
>>544362103getting heated is normal if u have ovary having tier emotions and passions for something that u use for fuel
>>544337331>"ackshually, you are very bad in comparison to me, and if you weren't so bad and stupid, this wouldn't have happened to you!! KEK!"You are welcome to look up the origin of the stalemate rule, its rationale and its history. Stalemate has been all three (win/draw/loss, and illegal move) at various points in time and still is in some chess adjacent games like shogi.
>>544363759yes, calibrate your analysis to your level/time control, etc. >If the refutation is pretty simple and definitely something I should have foundis more what I was going with
After weeks of doing stupid mistakes, being completely clueless about openings and being a complete beginner, I've finally done it. I have reached my goal: 95% winrate in the 100 rating chess.com bracket. It was satisfying watching my winrate go up as I got better. Now I'm finally good enough to humiliate beginners and can play chess for fun. Going to continue tanking my rating so I can log on every day for some easy wins to brighten up my day. No, I'm not planning on getting actually good. I'm fine here in my happy place at 100 rating.
>>544364329>the 100 rating chess.com bracketthe what?
>>544364394Well, it's not really a "bracket". 100 is the absolute minimum your rating can go if you instant surrender a game every time you win to keep it low.
>>544364494So you are playing games until you have mate then resigning so your rating doesn't increase?
this general is so fucking bad, we need to go back
>>544364589No, I win games normally, and every time I win, in the next game I make a single move then surrender. Takes 10 seconds.
>>544364696kys pbt
>>544366842that’s not pbt
>>544364696many people are saying this
How many games should it take someone to reach 1000 Elo starting from total scratch?
>>5443680644
>>5443680643
>>544368064Quite a few. You'll start at 600 or so most likely.
>>544368064a few thousand at least
>>544370236if it takes you more than a thousand games to reach a thousand elo, you should probably consider suicide.
>>544368064it took me like 500 games for 1000 and 200 more for 1100
>>544368064About a year then every 200 points after another year, for me at least
>>544370772I suppose it depends on how much time you spend doing puzzles and shit. If you spend most of your time reading guides, learning openers and doing puzzles and barely play, it will take fewer games (but possibly longer time, since playing is still the best way of getting gud).If you just spam games you can go through a hundred games a day easily. You don't reach 1000 in 10 days of playing.
>>544371064sure, if you play a hundred blitz games a day then nothing will improve but im not even considering that
>>544371389I noticed this too. I keep playing lots of games and barely improve. But in most competitive games the recommendation is to spend most of your time playing and keep studying to a minimum. How the fuck do you get good at chess?
Why would you not study your games afterwards? I spent like two hours the other day studying just one of my games. Sure, that's an aberration, but the point is I was actually learning and quite engaged.
>>544372369I only study games that I win to see if I missed something or could have done betterit's too depressing to watch myself lose the game so I skip those
>>544297137I can't wait to see the butthurt after Gukesh loses the next WCC
>>544373206I do the same. Games I lose I often know exactly why I lost because it's an obvious blunder that I was just too retarded to see before I played.
I focus more on the games I lost. Those lessons stick with me more than just reviewing games I won and patting myself on the back.

>>544464452they get bonus money for wins, thats the bonus money, its unique to the competition
Pretty based tournament to invite gukesh just to dunk on and expose him as trash, I must admit
>>544464005You're trying too hard now.
>>544464452in esports it's not unheard of
>>544465049No, he's right. In five years, only the most die-hard chess enthusiasts will even remember him, and it'll just be "Oh, that was that streamer who killed himself. Such a shame."
>>544463565If we were to adjust the scores to the normal full point for a win, half for a draw, what would the standings/scores look like? Genuine question.
>>544466353fagnus in first, fabi in second, gook still in last i believe
>>544466145Meanwhile, Hans will always be remembered as the anal beads chess player.
>>544466145No, you have it backwards. Danya will be remembered more by casual players and people who watch chess content (which is way more than the die-hard chess enthusiasts). If Anish Giri or Kramnik died they would probably be forgotten in like a year by most of the Internet.
>>544466145I already can't write his name without looking it up first. At least I know "Danya" isn't his actual name, unlike some.
levy will be remembered long after magnoose is forgotten...
>>544466862so much this. danya who? who were we even talking about? why is kramnik under fire again..? huhh...???
>>544467201I hate Levy Rozman
>>544464452common in tennis. they're very transparent about how much the players will win at each stage of a tournament bracket and in total for the winner.

>>544463878Knight e5
>>544466626That's actually a reasonable point.
>>544466145This but Ding (Gukesh)
>>544425231Downvoted!
>>544445869I can’t stop thinking about what happened to Danya, how the selective proctoring and unfair treatment he faced .Danya was required to play in TT events under proctoring for quite some time, something that most other players didn’t do. That alone raises serious questions about consistency and fairness in how he was treated by chesscom. He was later removed from TT after for not switching his chat to emote only mode, which raised speculations about him cheating.Danya talked openly online about how stressful the whole situation was for him. He repeatedly defended himself, but it was clear the constant scrutiny took a real emotional toll. For someone who gave so much to the game through his teaching, streaming, commentary, and genuine love for chess he deserved far more support and understanding than he got. chesscom never made a statement explaining why proctoring was used only for him. Danya’s experience shows just how much these issues matter. With Kramnik’s accusations and Danya being proctored, it’s heartbreaking to think how isolated and unfairly treated he must’ve felt. It made it look like he was under suspicion for the very allegations circulating around him. No player deserves that kind of pressure. Either everyone should be proctored or no one should, this sort of selective proctoring is purely evil and goes against everything fairness in chess should stand for.
>>544474110yeah but see the thing is he was actually cheating and com knew it
Someone ITT should AI slop a “Life and Games of GM Naroditsky” book and have it out for christmas.Easy milly Then donate a few thou to me for the idea

>>544352505>>544352449>>544386740Oh cool, thought third crisis was the only game like that, you could get certain scenes or actions to link up to multiple lovense toys. Gooners stay winning.
>>544475718I'll make some AI slop immediately

1900 hardstuck here
>>544477612that's approaching the adult improver ceiling. may want to evaluate life choices going forward.
>>544474110He mainly got kicked out of TT because he refused to put the second camera on his screens. The emote-only is a smart excuse though.
if his name was gukeshov you guys would love him
bros r*ddit is going after /our guy/ fabi the cunnyseur again
>>544486870what happened? is he getting pedo accusations or something?
>>544487427Would instantly become my favorite player in history. Shota/loli = winning.
PEDO LIVES MATTER!

What the hell is going on in this place…
>>544406716>carlsen is Dumbledore >kramnik is voldemort >and you seriously think they're the same?
>>544492410/chess/ is legitimately evil, leave while you can
>>544493143Wowies I guess I'll go back to heckin /tg/
>>544433031Reddit is having a really hard time with this one. I've read many exchanges that go like:>really? You think the allegations towards hans and danya were comparable at all? >no, actually I think Hans got it way worse from way more influential people >? I'd love to hear how you reached that conclusion??
>>544433708It seems likely given he probably wouldn't have killed himself over false accusations noone believed. That scenario is just so outlandish to me. >he didn't kill himself he just had Jewish neurosis and was super upset about tue accusations, mixed too many drugs and died Well, that's possible, and a shame, but isn't really Kramnik's fault.
>>544493143>catalog is full of autistic lolifur goon baityes /chess/ is the evil one
>>544493547>Jewish neurosisNaroditsky's face is really funny here when he hears that Kramnik showed that online and OTB chess strength are largely comparable.https://youtu.be/RGiDosCed48?si=iOW8bOMbpz-WCOYQ&t=1110
>>544449020>has all of this >universally beloved by chess players >famous but not so famous it hurts his ability to live normally >cushy income from playing the game he loves >young So why kill yourself over false accusations? Yes he had a great life. Most people would envy that setup to some degree.
>>544493723>entire 2 hour podcast of them discussing how kramnik is insane and his accusations make no sense>look at his funny face hereyou people are insane
>>544493723>>544493547Oops I meant to write >super upset about false allegations If they were true, spiraling and dying makes sense. He had a lot to lose. If they were false, it really is hard for me to believe he'd be that effected by false accusations which no one seemed to believe anyway.
>>544494323Some of the evidence I see people claiming, not sure if it's real or not mostly >he had to play under chess.com anti cheating proctor, causing his results in titled Tuesday to drop off>he was world #3 online blitz but not close to that by rating in otb >he went totally nuts as soon as he was accused and eventually either killed himself or died of an od Assuming this isn't all just some twitch/entertainment media staged event and he wasn't murdered or relocated.
>>544494589Oh i forget>he cheated on video
>>544494741I watched those videos. Didn't convince me either way. I don't really know what I'm looking at. To me the reaction he gave to the accusations ultimately leading to his death is the most evidence for their being true. The alternative just makes no sense but, Jews are fucking insane, so I guess it's possible.
>>544494589What’s the cheating proctor? Did it lag his game?
>>544495184I dont know if it lagged his game or not >In December 2024, Chess.com announced a new monitoring program named Proctor, which they intend to replace Zoom calls with. The program consists of a browser with tracking features attached, and Chess.com reports that it monitors players' screens, running programs, and camera and audio feeds.
>>544495047Influential Russian guy accuses you of being a rapist. At first you laugh it off, you know it’s not true. But then his followers start believing him, they start showing up in your livestreams, posting false allocations on Reddit about you. You would just laugh and ignore it? Maybe you would but apparently danya was a bitch who cared too much about what the general public thought of him. So I don’t think his overblown reaction is that unusually for a person being falsely accused. People said the same thing about Bret kavanaugh: why is he getting so mad if the accusations are false? Well he was innocent and now he’s a supreme judge.
>>544494323Well, I'm casually going through his material and realizing almost everything he says about the situation is deflection or appeal to emotion or ad hominem, which I think people already realize here. His sudden extremely worried worried face in light of another concern that definitely applies to him was just another indicator.
>>544495292Why not make all players use it? Then it’d be really strange if someone refused.
>>544495723Assuming I knew the accusation was false, and almost everyone disbelieved the accusation outside of a few Russian speaking schizos, and I was wealthy and famous from playing chess, ya I'd laugh it off. >cared about what the general public thought The general public literally thought he was a SAINT. I'm not exaggerating. >Brett Kavanaugh Weirdo humiliation ritual/transgender weird shit where he had to accuse himself in drag for... I have no idea what reason. Weirdo Jew/Mason stuff, and not really the same thing.
>>544495730Can you timestamp a video where Jewish rhetorical tricks are on display? I don't really have the patience to sift through this stuff myself.
>>544495825They recently implemented most of the proctor features as a requirement for play.https://www.chess.com/proctorIt's a good step forward, though there are still ways around it.
>>544495825Apparently it was only required for 3 people, which is a bit strange.
>>544496223>3 people among a certain class of player My bad, still quite strange
>>544496123Actually it starts going as soon as he starts talking after the timestamp here >>544493723These things are subtle because he's actually a very convincing person since he's so intelligent and can string together narratives so well and can also change the facts conveniently. So the point is that he doesn't want to talk about the facts, but instead makes irrelevant points or says how offended he is or how stupid Kramnik is. It's always that kind of thing at all times for everything. Of course this is all in hindsight now that he's gone and I've been paying attention. I wouldn't be able to confirm that he's dishonest just watching this video by itself.
