I don't know about legion but arcane post wotlk was built around mana management, where by playing optimally you end every fight with 0 mana my managing your arcane blast buffs with ideal efficiency. The "let's all cooperate to defeat le ancient ebil" plots are universally the worst dogshit in warcraft too.I think trying to make the factions a group of equals in a political union was a problem with the story. The setting should primarily focus on the conflict between the orcs and humans since they are the largest most capable factions that are diametrically opposed, all the other races should be tagging along for the ride on either the orc or human side because they are comparatively far weaker. With that kind of arrangement, where entire races are not pledging themselves to be part of a political alliance but instead opportunistically working with the major powers, it's much easier to come up with plausible stories for allied races. It doesn't make much sense for the night elves to join the alliance, but if they are just tagging along against a common enemy in the orcs it works better. Same for the forsaken on the horde. Then apply this concept to any other race in the setting.

Some of these custom mobs added to the new zones by the Turtle devs are really questionable. The naga myrmidons along the Gilneas shore hit for twice as hard as other mobs in the area and for some reason they do this instant cast uninterruptible frostbolt type attack that hits for 400 damage every few seconds. It's not hard to outheal if you know it's coming but I just died to one because I blinked and whoops half my health was deleted.
