>>544437565>Not good art constrained by technical limitations, mind you. Just imitating the superficial effects of old technical limits without any aesthetic merit to the art styleI agree that some of it is just nostalgia baiting, but I also think in some cases it takes a load of small dev teams and single devs. Making a faux PS1 style game look good is a lot easier than something with a more detailed artstyle

Babushka's Glitch Dungeon is really fun and aesthetically pleasing. I just wish getting all the secret collectibles got you more lore or a secret ending or something more than a cosmetic. Still had a great time with it. If you enjoy puzzle platformers at all you'll like it. Cheap enough that this is a "buy at full price" recommendation for me.Also finished Broken Reality, cool game with a lot of nice subtle nods to very old 4chan memes snuck in, though it can be a little janky and the ending didn't offer as much clarity as I'd hoped. Worth the ~$2 it's on sale for right now I'd say, if you want to play a slightly puzzly vaporwavey walking sim.I'm killing time until the Moon sequel comes out in a few days.

>>544435703>>544435934The idea of this sequence is a pretty cool, but the execution is weak. The setup is just bad. Two police demons appear and she lets herself get chained without a fight or explanation. And there's only some short backtracking to the brazor blade that doesn't feel much of a struggle. They could've added a detour, because of some normally trivial obstacles that became impossible while dragging a body. There used to be more blades during the side scroller segment so they actually removed obstacles.

>>544471630Fuck man, you can really tell that Acid Wizard where artists first and game devs second.I guess Ice Pick Lodge is at least an almost perfect pick for this. When they said they are going on hiatus but might let someone else play around with the IP I was very worried. Though I am a little hesitant about if I want to give money to Russia at the moment. That said I really hope it's not a direct sequel. Darkwood worked very well as a self contained story and any more information about the wider world would likely just ruin it. Then again considering how far away this takes place from the main game it could work out to
>>544500374>This is the game about a homeless orphan girl ending up in not-Silent Hill in Kurwastan, right?Nah, it's a story about a girl who burned down an orphanage and is sent to hell.

>>544505818I have a hard time believing there really will be any connection between the two games: The entity is gone and any of friends of it showing up would just be forced and strange. And the game won't release in ~2 years, so there's plenty of time for Churkaville fall apart in that time.
Playing some Ghost of Tzatziki and I keep forgetting how slow the starts in these Ubishit style games are.I don't mind slow burn games, but I dislike when it's so handholdy, in a game that brags about its open world. At least give me the illusion of freedom by spacing out the intro over a few quests across the open world.

I heard that some /v/ users made skin mods for the Omen Seeker in DD but they were removed from the nexus or something, does anyone know if there's still a place to download them?
>>544509426>I have a hard time believing there really will be any connection between the two gamesYeah me to. It takes place very far away as I said and I trust Ice Pick Lodge to know their shit.I'm just always a little on edge when a story features some ancient unknowable horror and then a sequel comes along that tries to explain or contextualize it. Usually that just ruins it for me. You know shit like "Oh the Being is part of this ancient alien race and here is everything about their society and plan for humanity and here is a list of rules for how the transformations and supernatural elements of Darkwood fit into all of this" That type of shit. But I'm confident IPL are above that>plenty of time for Churkaville fall apart in that timeThat's mostly wishful fantasy thinking from what I understand. Either way I think it's not even so much the giving them money part that irks me but just the fact that I used to really enjoy Russian media in the past, but all of that enjoyment is now gone on a subconscious level. Probably because of this toxic cultural subtext their invasion of Ukraine has. I'm afraid it might take quite some time for that to go away.Hell Pathologic 2 was one of my favorite games of all time and I'm genuinely unsure how much enjoyment I'll get out of 3

But I'm confident IPL are above thatNot him, but I get you. Dishonored is exactly that for me, I loved the first game that was a peek in a weird, scary world where whales were ancient beings, and the Outsider was something in the shape of a teenager. Then came the sequel and the Outsider is literally just that, a teenager.Imagine is Thief retconned the Woodsie Lord into being just a very powerful satyr, instead of the ancient god of Chaos, the Trickster.

Been trying for the They'll Tell Stories About This chievo (no-deaths/defeats) for a couple of days now. My attempts at trying it on an organic run just kept dying due to random stupidity, and I got absolutely burnt out in re-clearing Chersonese. Now I'm just gonna try to cheese it with a mule character. Have the mule run around their own world and have the no-death char drop-in at trainers so the no-death starts off with all their breakthroughs and magic right after waking up in Cierzo. Oh, and gotta kit them out in endgame gear too.Not too sure what I want for a build for it, though. I was kind of thinking gunmage with Mercenary, Cabal Hermit, and Hex Mage breakthroughs. Wind sigil for Lightning Bullet, then a volly from Chimera>Bone>Canon(scrapshot)>Meteoric>Rupture to apply then blow up all the hexes. Probably just the Akycrown Mace for their mainhand option.Armor, not too sure what I'm gonna give them. Master Kazite is really nice, but youre taking the full brunt of all magic damage sources. Could just speedmax with the jeweled perlbird mask and master trader gear, but thats a very singular basket to put my eggs in for a ND run.

>>544538350No, it would only aggravate my autism to the point where I'd have to boot up minecraft and dig a hole or boot up some other game and do a very mundae, mind numbing activity that everyone else would find boring.
>>544538865I'm pretty sure you can beat Dishonored 1 without any powers outside of the tutorial, I vaguely remember seeing an achievement for it. They wouldn't put an an unbeatable achievement in a game, wouldn't they?
>co-op ISP sim>early accessgod damn it
>>544539397The achievement is called mostly flesh and steel (the achievement in 2 for refusing the mark is flesh and steel btw) and like the name indicate, you are mostly not using powers. By that I mean that you can't use any rune but everything else is fair game, including the starter blink which is obviously a power and you are forced to use it to do return to the tower without using an elevator glitch or spending runes to buy agility which is obviously also a power. You could have just checked the achievement list yourself anon. It literally says "besides blink" in the description.
>>544538539I hate steam cloud and how game saves arent treated as redundant or a choice per game between the two, rather than an overarching thing that has priority over local saves. Shit suck when you loose a few hours of progress because the connection shat itself when playing and replace your latest save with the lastest save from the cloud.
>>544545240I assumed that was because you use blink in the tutorial.
>>544545723No. The only thing you aren't allowed to do is spend runes (unlocking blink 2 locks the achievement too), you can spam blink as much as you want.
>>544545240Well technically you can use a double grenade boost on easy mode to get high enough but that difficulty switching and disallowed by the glitchless ruleset.

>>544554819Because nowadays the way it work is that a big emone publisher get its hand on an existing IP to save on R&D and count the new IP as an up for the share values, task a team to create a new product using the same IP to capitalize on the brand name recognition, task another team to do market research as to which type of gameplay is the most profitable at the moment, then task a commitee with finding a low price gamedev to subcontract and shit out whatever bland ass "insured profit" slop that check all the marks that the marketing team provided. You can tell that whoever is behind the decision never played the original game, nor intend to as to understand what they're working with, nor will they care that any sort of fidelity or genuine love is present because no one from top to bottom is there for the love of the game, but to make a profit off of it. Ie the most recent deus ex remaster which didnt even bother solving bugs present in the original, and even added new ones.So with that said, I cannot help but take anons side, whoever would get their hands on the IP would shit the bed, especially such a niche game where patience and stealth are a must, which some suits would most likely assume isnt good to get the "Modern gaming audienceâ„¢" aka lowest common denominator

I have 140 point and click unplayed games in my steam library, i should start playing them
>>544573207You should play Pikmin 1^2 off your Dolphin library
>>544573207Why are you avoiding point and clicks? Most of them are short and have pretty simple puzzles if they were made in the last 10 years.
the aphrodite theme is cute
>>544576059I played hundreds of them already don't worry, they are my favourite genre anyway>>544575762I will probably replay machinarium
>>544560837>most likelySo you in fact don't know that.
>>544554819Because it actually happened in this cursed timeline despite a strong mandela effect suggesting otherwise.
The only time I've ever played KSP was to build as big a rocket as I could, send it up, and slam it down into the space center as hard as physically possible.
>>544580541There actually is a Thief 4 but its a mod using the Thief 2 engine and it's actually really fucking good.
>>544576883Nearly 3 decades of videagaems awareness made me understand it has become the norm for the industry, and in fact has been for quite a long time. Also the current owners of the IP rights for Thief is the Embracer Group, the same peoples behind the recent deus ex "remaster", so to expect anything worthwhile out of them is laughable.

It really was just a case of development hell as the result of going corpo in practice, but in hindsight it just looks like an unironic scam from the customer's perspective(which also feeds into the sellout narrative of squad).

where the fuck are all the decent survival horrors mancrow country was the last good one to come outnightmare operator and holstin are tba
>>544558251Just finished. It became way more of a problem by the end, especially combined with the inconsistent health/ammo drops and enemy i-frames. Apparently that'll be addressed in a future patch, so I almost wish I waited. But the game was still a fun time, especially for a solo dev project
I played "in sound mind" for the halloween period. It was actually really good. Surprisingly, it's not really a horror game.

>>544597445What about that Moria game? Is it fun?
>>544597445>"difficult"The game has an EZ modo and it's not like it enforces ironman style saving so as long as you save regularly you can just do over.
The problem with playing survival games with friends is that playing them solo afterward while friend is sleeping is boring. Like, extra boring.
just finished Mouthwashing. It's not a bad game, but I don't really understand what made it so popular.
Finally watched Thriller. It's not a bad movie, I really understand what made it so popular.
I kinda want to talk about dishonored 2's bizarre system of kills.Obviously, linking people with domino will count as killing them. And using the human shield system to kick someone off a ledge or into a wall of light will count as a kill. But what if you throw someone and they get up and fall on their own? Well that's not a kill.Running into someone and make them fall? That's a kill, sliding towards them to make them fall? That's also a kill. But running and not causing a stagger is not a kill.Okay now let me talk about more original methods of killing. How about using far reach to make someone die from hazards or fall damage? That's a kill. OR IS IT!? There is this scene at the beginning of Jindosh's mansion where 2 guards come from a cart. Well if you stand on the building and catch the red guard with far reach, you can grab him and human shield him. If you then kick him out, he will warp towards the cart and go through everything, including the glass ceiling. This will kill him most of the time but won't count as a kill.Okay that's funny but what about some stuff that allows you to do a pacifist all target kill run? Now we're talking. There is this funny feature with the stun mines, if you hit them, they explode. It's lethal but... It's not a kill. Unless the target is unconscious of course, that's your fault then. But if they're not. It's not a kill.Or how about meeting Jindosh and pulling the floor from under him? Not a kill.
>>544635370Okay, now let me talk about elevators. Elevators are fun, you can climb on top of them and break the wire to make them fall. This will kill anyone inside. BUT it only counts as a kill if they are unconscious. If an elevator falls because of you and the people are conscious, it is their fault for dying. Not yours. So how about some funny tricks. In mission 3, the institute. You can use possession with domino and mesmerize to get up to 7 guards stuck in an elevator, you can then disable domino and cut the wire while they're all stuck. That's not lethal. It's their fault for overburdening the elevator. Okay, that's pretty funny. But what about killing almost every guards in the game non-lethally? Yeah, there is a way, renewable that cost nothing and that can be done as soon as you get your sword. You see, when you perfect guard a melee attack, the opponent is pushed back. Well if the opponent was say, near a ledge, a wall of light or even electrical rails. What would happen? They'd die of course, through no fault of yours. Yeah, that's non-lethal. Does not appear in the stats. That's part of the things I like with dishonored 2. In 1, almost everything is your fault. The only non-lethal kills you can do for most missions is by tricking a guard into shooting the targets with a few exceptions like the lord regent fireplace and there is no stat page to help you track what is a kill and what is not so you're forced to finish a level to know for sure.I vaguely remember doing a high chaos non-lethal run in 2, I can't remember if chaos was tracked with death or with kills. I'll have to try to do that again next playthrough to test it.
>>544635370I do not like Dishonored 2.

>>544650614Know that feel. What often helps is taking a break form games altogether for a few days
>>544610039>Just finishedMe too. I can't believe it ended with Polly becoming a pirate.Got 3 out of 4 endings, have to start a new game for the last one, but I'll just wait for the update.I wonder if the specific endings has some variations. Like in all 3 endings I saw the imp brothers and I wonder what happens if I don't give back the larva. Also in the leave endings there's a lot of empty seats and I wonder if I can fill them. Like by saving the orphans. Also had a crack theory of Alice being Polly's figment of imagination because I was fairly certain the others didn't acknowledge her, but I saw your pic so I must've remembered wrong.I loved the orphanage part, it was a nice change of pace and it wouldn't have made sense for Polly to fight her way through her place of trauma. I figured Valentina will appear sooner or later and I was worried that she'll be like the drunkard. It would have reduced Polly's accomplishment of killing her. Her being reduced to a mindless monster and not even the boss was great. Definitely my favorite chapter.
Promoting heroes should be something you have to choose to do I understand why they don't let you send in heroes that are way above the difficulty of the mission but it is so fucking annoying having roster slots effectively locked out. I am nowhere near able to do champion missions, I don't even have T4 armor and weapons unlocked, I am broke as shit, and now my best characters are locked out for an indefinite amount of time. This is retarded. This bitch has natural eye, natural swing, and eagle eye. And I can't use her.
>>544668273Hot. Does she get spanked, or is it not that kind of game?
>>544670473Yes, actually. There's a flashback of the caretaker of the orphanage beating her, but the act itself isn't shown.

One small detail I really like about Ghost of Suzuki is how when you have to track footprints you actually have to track them with your eyes and follow them. It's a minor thing, but after playing a lot of Witcher 3 recently I'm so sick and tired of switching my brain of and following the red line.Speaking of Witcher 3. I'm surprised that unlike that, GoT doesn't have an animation for walking up hills or stairs, you just kind clip into the environment a little. Which is crazy since walking on horizontal surfaces looks really good. You even sink into the mud a little and leave footsteps when the ground is wet
>>544650768was worth it
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3019550/Riddlewood_Manor/Just played this, great time if you like point-and-click puzzle games, especially spooky ones. The devs made some VR titles I never got around to checking out, I should prioritize playing them if the puzzle design and story are nearly as good as this
