FSW would basically be a "fuck you" to everyone who stuck with RS3 through the worst years, but if the real reason RS3 can't attract new players is because the game has been "tainted" with so much MTX then no amount of changes will fix the problem.
>>
>>544528087
>game has been "tainted"
Nobody cares if you have 200M xp in fishing and honestly I'd respect you more as a person if you lamped it than if you actually played the game to do it.
The only achivements worth anything are the new combat achievements and you can't mtx those.
>>

RS3 is an MMO dying under the weight of sunk cost. You have a significant contingent of players who will never start an Iron because it means not playing the account they created 20+ years ago.
It's why they didn't play OSRS. Hell, it's why they don't play any other game.

Then they piss and moan when Jagex releases content for anything other than comp capers (but don't add any comp requirements or they'll freak).

The game needs new blood.
>>
>>544529998
or just buy keys.
>>
rs3 will probably never truly die as long as OSRS is around. id estimate rs3 still has at least 5 years left
>>
>>544530370
Comp autists need to be put in their place.
Remove the grace period and add a new requirement with each update.
>>
>>544528087
MTX isn't what stops new players, they bounce off due to issues in the game itself. Fresh blood from new generation of gamers are used to rampant MTX now its not 2012 anymore unfortunately
>>
>>544530962
think more than 5, but barring Jagex being willing to take a massive financial hit for probably at least 2 years rs3 will never experience growth again. It would take years to fix all the game's issues
>>
>>544532649
They're used to MTX, but they look around at all the high level players and realize they either need to pay thousands of dollars or grind hundreds of hours to play with them.
>>
Jagex needs to get my mom in the office and keep improving the game and the ui until she can solo all mechanic nm arch glacor.
>>
even if RS3 dies it is what it is. I have enjoyed my time and I would switch to OSRS. I have to be playing something anyway because I get bored easily.
>>
>>544533998
I lied I wouldn't switch to osrs I hate that game
>>
>>544534301
I lied. I already switched to osrs and just shitpost here
>>
>>544533446
that's not really an MTX issue, if there was no MTX they would still bounce off since they only see hundreds of hours of boring grinding ahead of them. RS3 needs to add more interesting mid-game content to on-ramp new players like OSRS has like scurrius or perilous moons. Arch-glacor is pretty much the only analogous thing rs3 has
>>
demon flash mobs
>>
FOMO from all the dailies / hourlies are a bigger problem. Jagex has to be willing to piss off the current players who are used to the xp handouts to fix it. Also if a skill is so shit to train you need to rely on dailies it should be looked at
>>
>>544534624
yes I completely agree that wilderness flash events were a terrible inclusion. I have posited a solution that consists only of the major events like the star, tree, kbd, and wyrm. this is the only real solution.

the issue is that ALL of them are worth doing, and since humans have to sleep you are realistically missing out on a lot of them. sweat lords are making more progress than ever due to these.

but yeah its so weird. now at daily reset I have to do a wilderness event AND try to do my Guthix cache at the same time.
>>
>>544535028
I will say I don't consider weeklies and monthlies to be an issue you can do all of these very quickly. I honestly didn't even consider dailies to be THAT bad (although they were) but wilderness flash events have made this shit excessive.

"b-but just don't do them though bro!"

this has simply never been a solution because they ARE worth doing

>>
>>544535214
weeklies and monthlies are okay as long as they are kept to a reasonable level. if it takes 20 hrs to do all your weeklies that's obviously too far. Dailies were bad mostly because they were a band aid for shitty skills like divination and dungeoneering instead of fixing them. Wilderness events are crazy, it's every hour and they're all so OP
>>
>>544535525
Dailies suck because they're obviously born from insecure design. Jmods want to make sure people don't ignore the content they spent weeks working on, so they make the rewards disgustingly good.
But obviously that upsets the balance so they put a daily lockout on it.

"Just don't do dailies" doesn't work because people aren't stupid. The reward is too good to ignore. When people start skipping dailies, they stop playing altogether.
>>
>>544535748
The one good thing about dailies is that it's the only place other than portables where people talk.
>>
>>544535748
Stuff like caches should be reworked into a permanent activity that could be an alternate training method / minigame. Rebalance the rates and also rebalance the regular training methods since its so bad to train. Both should be a viable option for training.

While they're at it should just cull all the old minigames with bad rewards that no one plays. the nostalgia isn't worth it. They need to concentrate the remaining players into worthwhile activities to encourage some group activity instead of afk thaler farming

I don't want OSRS players voting on RS3 when they have shat on RS3 for over a decade. Unless they also play RS3 that is. Hell, they should have a time played requirement to even vote on the poll.

Anyway, ALL of this stuff is happening FAR too late. As someone said, it's like trying to put out the fire when it's already burned down the house. It's already gone.

>>544540992
It's not that they can't figure out how to play OSRS or an RS3 Iron (or just ignore MTX), it's that they started their account in 2005 and have a pathological attachment to it.

They cannot change. The game has to
>>
>>544540080
>>544540591
There is no "no" vote.
This is literally rigged to pass.

>You'll need to log in to any RuneScape Character to cast a vote. Membership is not required.
>Membership is not required.

They're counting on it passing. This is just a circus for free publicity.
>>
>>544540923
the MTX changes are the least important of the proposals. Honestly, if this vote fails they can leave all the MTX bullshit but they need to fix the dailyscape, shitty mismatched visuals, and other core gameplay issues. it is late but this is the only chance not doing it guarented slow (or maybe not so slow) death. keeping the game as is will NEVER get any new players just slowly bleed the existing ones
>>
my ironman clan is getting so mad at me saying this is all happening far too late lol. even if treasure hunter is removed its not like this game will recover over night.

its still an outdated game that has been neglected for a decade.

at first thought it would be a yes / no vote. It's more or less guaranteed to pass now, even if not legitly Jagex would probably rig it to pass, they see the writing on the wall. EU regulation stuff is finally forcing their hand
>>
>>544541525
they will NEVER fix this game. I have asked on Reddit for years when we will see BASIC GRAPHICAL UPDATES. BASIC QOL. MINIGAME REVIVALS.

jagex doesn't do that.
>>
>>544541254
I made my account in 2004, and the only money I spend on the game is membership.
I've been fucking with leagues as of late, maybe they could do something similar that won't actually solve the problem because the people bitching about my will just find something new to bitch about even if they get exactly what they demand.
>>

>>
damn all the vocal 5.8ers actually got the ladder pulled up behind them
>>
>>544541879
Not saved. The game is too far gone.
MTX wasn't a deterrent for 99% of people trying the game.
It was the unexplained combat system, god awful UI, and OSRS being a mega-hit that's easier to get into.
>>
>>544541879
went from 100% chance of game death within 5 years to 99% chance. if Jagex actually commits to fixing the game and shows some concrete action we'll see, but lets not forget they are masters of broken promises and failed expectations
>>
>>544542089
>Delivery of a dedicated year-long integrity roadmap addressing core issues like the user interface, visual cohesion, auras, dailyscape and more

Jagex has a long history of this, they need to prove themselves. If they can deliver on a full year roadmap of integrity changes then there's a chance. Only the most delusional players will blindly believe them given their track record.
>>
>>544542173
I've seen Jagex promise "integrity" changes and put out roadmaps to fix glaring issues, promising to "do better", more times than I can remember.
>>
my iron clan is getting SO mad. I told them simply fixing the UI would be a bigger and more impactful change than the removal of Treasure Hunter.

I would like to inform you guys of something RS3 CANT BE SAVED. We will maybe see 10k players come to RS3 after treasure hunter is gone. Maybe 20k. But it will dip back down to its lows very quickly when they realize how garbage RS3 really is.
>>
they shouldn't be surprised if RS3 actually loses players cause of this. people love micro transactions. look into how much people really do just love to spend money. genshin impact is a prime example of this.
>>
Jagex finally called the fire department 13 years later lol
>>
>>544543585
I'm sure they are aware and prepared for that. They are hoping to attract and keep new players with the other changes listed.
>>
You guys are forgetting that they need to remove treasure hunter regardless.
EU is cracking down on gambling in games.
>>
>>544543193
So funny how smoothbrains out themself every time they complain about how the UI is dogshit. It's fully customizable, if your ui is bad that's on you. You got filtered out by an iq test 12 year olds could figure out.
>>
>>544544145
we aren't forgetting at all. that just means games being propped up by mtx like RS3 will just die off entirely. which is honestly a good thing. if your game isn't good enough to actually play it will simply die off.
>>
>>544544228
my UI looks good but it's still dogshit. because the ui is fundamentally flawed.
>>
>>544544228
A fully customizable UI is great for people who have been playing for years and know what they need/want. It's not good for new players who don't know what they need or where the setting is to enable it.

The customizable UI has been an enormous problem with new players for years.
>>

I kinda hope rs3 dies off after this just to prove a point. IT CANT BE SAVED

When heropass came out they got rid of the daily keys from TH. Reddit was crying until they put it back.
When they did the mtx experiment and put daily spins on hold reddit was crying until it was clear they would retroactively get the missed spins back.
When they polled the playerbase about the mtx experiment jagex said the largest concerns were players losing out on their daily handouts if TH were to be removed.
>>

think about it this way. why would you get rid of an infinite money generator? you wouldn't. it would be more profitable to squeeze the players dry and kill the game entirely than it would be to get rid of an infinite money generator.

Just another lame gathering skill. Woodcutting but glowing orbs.
>Why is dungeoneering dead content over here?
EoC made it way less fun but even then people just didn't like it.
>How you guys like RS Leagues?
Boring and grindy. No quest skips, tasks gave too few points, and you're way underpowered compared to OSRS leagues.
> Do you guys lurk /osg/ when /rsg/ goes down
No
>>
>>544547791
Jagex has accepted that RS3 will die unless they attract new blood and they outlined a list of changes they are planning to make, one of which is the removal of treasure hunter.
Any sane person is pro "Yes" vote.
It's a bit of a lame gathering skill that is only useful for porters and unlocking invention and transmuting onyx dust into onyxes in leagues. The most efficient way to train it is playing a 5 minute minigame twice per day.
I think it's fun but it's not get 100M XP for level 120 fun. Most people seem to hate it though.
I liked it a lot but it was obviously way undertuned.
I don't. I'd probably be playing osrs as well if the thread was good to hang around in but I don't like the clique that seems to have formed there.
>>
>>544547791
Divination is a gathering skill to fuel invention stuff and to create QoL items like sign of life and porters

Dungeoneering is dead since it hasn't really had any real way of training it outside of ether raiding or the last content andrew gower worked on which was intented as a original game before deciding it'll fit into runescape

Leagues was great but this definitly felt more like testing the waters for what does and doesn't work for the RS3 version of it
>>
>>544547791
>What's going on, and why should I vote yes?
Jagex put up a "vote" to remove most MTX from RS3. it's rigged to pass but showing more support for removing it helps

Pro yes. Any No's are trolling or ragebaiting. Cant even vote no on the actual "poll" anyway
>What's the deal with Divination?
Slow and boring gathering skill. you suck on orbs instead of hitting rocks or trees
>Why is dungeoneering dead content over here?
Most people don't find it fun. It's basically if gauntlet was a whole skill
>How you guys like RS Leagues?
Too slow. They didn't take any lessons from all the OSRS leagues. feels like it was Jagex's first ever try at a league even though OSRS has been doing it for years

Jagex is giving an ultimatum that will determine whether or not predatory mtx like Treasure Hunter (XP Casino) has a place. Don't vote yes for the sake of RS3. Vote if you hate mtx.
>Is /rsg/ pro or anti "Yes" vote?
Everyone except for two or three lurkers in here want nothing more than to purge spinniefags
>What's the deal with Divination?
Lorewise Guthix died and the anima mundi(you'd know what this is in osrs if you did the gnome quests) started bleeding out from the planet Gameplaywise, you collect balls and throw them in a hole nearby. incredibly boring but very low maintenance.
>Why is dungeoneering dead content over here?
Dailyscape killed it entirely
>How you guys like RS Leagues?
It's okay, it may be RS3's first League, but it's not Jagex's first Leagues. They could've done much better. You should've been able to blitz through endgame bosses with mid tier gear like OSRS Leagues

The game will be in a healthier state but it won't bring back players other than the typical seasonal players who come/go every couple of months.
There's nothing that RS3 does exceptionally well, and microtransactions were only one issue out of many.
The combat is serviceable at best.
The graphics are inconsistent and weren't even good for its time. The player model update is never happening.
Questing was actually one of the stronger facets of the game, but the quality has only gone downhill since Sliske's Endgame.
Gameplay is increasingly AFK/instanced so you never even have to interact with other players these days. Hell, you don't even have to interact with the game most of the time with these skills that let you AFK for 5+ minutes.
Anyone who was interested in RS3 has already given it a go and no new player is going to be paying $14/month for this half-baked game

Am I being tricked? Seems like reverse psychology at work, naturally I'm a contrarian and want to vote yes out of spite but perhaps this is exactly what they want and could be reverse - reverse psychology. This is on par with talmudic sorcery, the eternal anglo strikes again.
>>
>>544575051
All they want is a news cycle. Just vote yes in case they need a big number to show their investors and move on.

>>
>>544575051
With the number of required votes being so low and the restrictions on voting being so lax, along with how hard jagex is pushing people to vote, they 100% already plan on removing TH and just want to get some news articles and youtubers talking about the game.

the "vote" or what amounts to just hitting like on their post is just for show. The decision is already 100% determined beforehand and is mostly driven by the upcoming EU regulations

The biggest thing RS3 Leagues highlighted is that the early-game experience is putrid dogshit. The game can't retain a playerbase because 95% of the people who start the game get overwhelmed by a mindnumbing storm of FOMO inducing announcements, obtuse legacy content gating everything else in the game, and dogshit writing in beginner quests that repels everyone above the age of 10.
There isn't a single aspect of RS3 that commands a $15 sub price PLUS MTX. OSRS at least has a niche appeal to genuinely autistic people who want a simplified but still relatively deep experience. There's absolutely no reason to play RS3 over the dozens of WoWlikes on the market.

not sure what they're waiting for at this point. It clearly is a massive problem for balance and Jagex has no idea how to fix it. It pretty much needs to be gutted and re-done from the ground up.

Necro is the weakest style in the game
>>
>>544660820
on paper yes, in practice no. Necromancy is extremely simple and straightforward to use and has an extremely easy/cheap gear path. Ghost is also still hilariously OP for sustain in combat. There's a reason items for all the other styles have crashed.
>>
>>544660820
There's a direct correlation between the type of player that picks Everlasting Faith and people who have Necro as their main style.
Casual players would choose to completely sabotage their DPS if it meant that they didn't have to worry about managing health/resources

I've loved RS3 gameplay ever since pre-eoc, and even liked eoc.
The one and only thing that made me quit was the game becoming infested with retarded looking cosmetics. It's the one thing that will make me drop any game instantly. I just can't stand running around and seeing 75% of the playerbase looking like circus performers with down syndrome.

I just came across the big news on youtube, and honestly can't believe they're actually going through with it (No option to vote "No", kek). OSRS is great to have, but I've missed the original timeline and a lot of its content, like summoning/dungeoneering and bossing. It's been close to 10 years and I kind of feel like starting over with how much new content has been added, so I'll most likely be starting a new character. Not sure if I wanna do a normal account or an Iron, though.

>>
>>544674540
Playing as ironman has been a hell of a rewarding experience, nothing comes close to the satisfaction of creating your own gear, leveling up without mtx shit you can buy your way through, and most importantly of all it gives each item a form of meaning since you challenged yourself getting a drop from a boss instead of simply buying the gear.
