Great work with the player feedback here, the visible motion lines for the punches and the exaggerated on hit effects make it really clear to see what's happening.

it's done.... I had to refactor all 80 of my special chips to separate the "am I going to trigger?" code from the "I am doing my stuff: code. The value of this is it allow my new enchantments to very easily hook into a special chips "am I going to trigger" function, which allows for much more intuitive and interesting enchantments.

Now I just need to add interesting enchantments. The system is well setup, just edge cases need to be handled. Can probably get like 5 done by DD.

That was a very smart thing to do and even if it was a pain in the ass good on you for doing it. Really hope it helps further development in the future.

Effects like the floating red text for the $50 are good because they make the UI feel more alive. Same with the movement in the background, but that's weird because it looks like you have two instances of it inside the box and outside and they don't sync up so it looks off.

For the chip effects, are they all stand alone effects or are there things that can stack or interact?

What's your goal? If you just care about quality making it challenging will make it a better game and appeal more to people who care about quality. But more modern players will bounce off it.

Difficulty levels might be a good solution. Make an easy mode for modern players and a hard mode for old school ones. But that's a lot more dev effort of course.

It really depends on the kind of dev. For any kind of creativity dependent work like design, it's really hard to do more than maybe 15-20 hours/week. For any kind of more grindy work like asset production, even 60-80 hours/week is possible.

Got some inspiration to try out some small scale stuff for fun cause im bored. Never learned programming but it seems UE4/UE5 dont really care, I had experience with goldsrc/source Hammer and some of Valves other tools for about 8 years of just making fun stuff for peoples servers and my own.

If I wanna make a smaller bite sized game is UE5 a good place? I dont wanna rely on its more robust lighting/shaders/etc... and shit like that, I want it to run on most machines.

Unity just seems like a whole beast to get into, and not sure of gamemaker is something that would be the right fit.

Are you guys able to keep track of your total player counts? My project Pixurbia tracks all plays and downloads and I'm at 2400+ plays and downloads now, trying to do little things daily to bring it to 3000. It was neat earlier when I released a new update and within a minute 4 people had noticed the update and downloaded it. Amateur free game that I'm already satisfied just having so many people play it. I found a trick to guaranteed get 10+ people to play the game within 5 minutes for free but it's a bit greasy. It's so cool seeing people come back to play more with no prompting from me

whats up hoes. I added bandits. yeah the game was missing bandits. the best sub-faction ever. because killing humanoid enemies is thrilling but you don't want to feel bad about it. so you call those people "bandits". whatever the hell it means.

Now the game has minor and major factions. Major factions are controlled by a higher level Commander who has goals. And minor ones have no perspective beyond holding to whatever land they hold. thats all they care about.
I'm still trying to figure out rules around joining a combat event you can see it in the clip. IDK. Maybe i'll make it so theres a limited amount of entrance spots and you move to the nearest one if you join the event. that way you also know which way new entrants are coming from and not at a disadvantage. if I had played boardgames and TRPGs i'd probably know the answer to these things. also I'm thinking of adding the third faction. "NATURE". Its a collection of all the beast mobs in the game. Idea is nothing. At most it's a vision (fuck I hate this word in gamedev) or a number of words describing a concept in short. And then the gameplay: Fluid, turn-based, skill based, fast, slow, whatever else.

Really like the detail you have in the animations, things like the cape waving and the character actually wanting up stairs plus the climbing animation are all great.

Using different colored text for different characters is a nice touch too.

One thing though, when there are only two dialog options like Yes and No, it's hard to tell whether the white or yellow option is the one being selected. Unreal picked the absolute worst route for rendering and effectively chose the route that works best with TSR. Threat Interactive may be a scammer but he is right in regards of how unreal really fucked up. Unreal 5 games look great for screenshots, though.

To be fair I intentionally set setting parameters to exacerbate the effect. Just turn off TSR + TAA and increase Lumen's scalability to fix the ghosting. It's not the engine's fault, it's the dev's fault for not fixing it. Or hell, just turn off Lumen altogether and rely on hardware raytracing if you hate it THAT much, although that's unnecessary.
Blaming the engine for an optional feature is always silly.

If you mean just animations you can get by with a lot of premade animations for basic actions. Animating for an Albion style game isn't that hard since all the actions are stationary.

If you mean a library of 3d models, swappable armors, male and female variants of everything then yeah that's gonna take time. Better get to work.

The mist effect is very nice! The particular are a fun idea too, but they're very prominent being so solid white. Maybe decrease the alpha to make them look more ephemeral?

Neat that it looks like the mirror is working too, there's a white blob at one point. Any other interactions/collisions working?

If you mean the particles, the little circles that trail behind the faerie, are solid white it might just appear that way, they're actually lavender. Originally I had an array to randomly choose colors but went with a singular color lavender, to be more like LoZ. Maybe I should be more original and go back to the array of colors, I 'unno.
What I made here wasn't exactly hard or praiseworthy, it's all really basic.
But effort (≠) quality, shortcuts can lead to interesting outcomes. Thanks for the input, I just think devving is really fun and I like sharing.

Not really the same, it just tells you stuff about the documentation, you can test it here already https://dev.epicgames.com/community/assistant/unreal-engine , it won't give you blueprints or actual code unless it is in the docs.
