Silver might be written better but they still need to address the three elephants in the room: They need to balance how rude he is, they need to balance how strong he is, and they need to tell us why he is in the past still. I'm not like Sonic at all, I could never be as fast or free, but if he were real, I know he'd seem more hero than monster to us. I remember thinking he was just a chaotic speedster as a kid. He was my fave when I saw how he fights for everyone's freedom in the Archie comics. I never truly appreciated the franchise until it embraced diversity. Isn’t that amazing? I only realized I loved it when I saw perspectives from queer fans and how Sonic's story reflects fighting oppression. His arc is compelling because it mirrors real progress.
