Right now it feels like I'm playing the early part of a single-player JRPG for free. I'm slowly going through the story, watching cutscenes, reading dialogue, doing side quests, and exploring around for loot. I'm not worried about being optimal in order to get enough rolls for a character, or stockpiling rolls for a future one. Almost every character/weapon feels within reach, you're just choosing the order that you unlock them. If you unlock a character and regret it later, no big deal, just farm up for another one.
