No locks at all results in every deck running some variant of the same few engines and thus the game itself and its strategies becoming extremely homogenized. Even with the seemingly contradictory lock, I think Springans has the highest potential Branded build out of Despia, Swordsoul, and Dogmatika.Everyone is too focused on the XYZs when overall, XYZs in Springans are more like combo beginners than actual end-board pieces. That the only reason you would want them is either for floodgates or Sargas pop (which are very weak plays because of the banlist and powercreep). The single synchro Branded offers is basically Merrymaker but as a single ED slot instead of a double ED slot, with the advantage of escaping Niburu and freeing up the board for more combo space. It can also easily use IP Masquerina, whom is honestly so much better in Branded than on other decks using her a cope monster, simply by how she preserves Mirrorjade’s fusion condition, Cartesia, and escapes the pressure of handtrap plays. She is usually extremely useless in other decks because their effects are specialized for the main phases instead of the end phase. And they don’t have cards like Tri-brigade Mercourier that encourages banishing your own cards to access powerful combo pieces.
