Got a kid, yay. For now, the kid mechanics only serve to put pawns out of commission. Pregnant mom has debuffs, and then mom has to run off her job to feed the kid, and dad has to run off his job to social the kid. Kid is a kid, it does nothing.
Practically the same as playing in the swamp with malaria knocking down some of your guys, and the others having to regularly tend to them.
I agree it was weird that your colony only grew by captuing enemies, but this is a hassle in the gameplay.

I see there is pollution too, I didn't meet that yet, but surely it's another round of debuffs to stuff.

You can just put the baby in a growth vat and skip the entire useless period. Afterwards, you can choose to vatgrowth the kid again completely removing any kind of passion and good traits it may have, or have the kid in full recreation time (while properly hunting any manhunter animals) until it becomes a pawn with passions that you want and hopefully not shitty traits (like the time I only got bad traits like lazy, deppressive, gourmet, pyromaniac, etc.).
An efficient way to grow soldiers is to get the combat genes (go juice dependency, psychite dependency, robust, great shooting, fast runner) and growth vat the baby until it becomes 18 years old.
You can even mass produce them with IVF.

That's my greatest fear. I always took great care to who I recruit, I'd rather not take someone who is not good. Even in quests when someone offers to join, I say no, can't risk it.
Although there was one single game where I tamed a caveman because I needed someone to melee and die because the raids were getting big, and he always lived and he grew on me. But usually I lose interest in a colony if I'm forced to hire useless pawns.

I already took one useless pawn in biotech - the mother was the medic, and the game dropped in an "incapable of violence" I thoght I had to take to deliver the baby. Because the othet two were 0 and 1 medical. If the kid turns out bad, it's a double loss.

one thing I like about Oskar is that his mods are consistently right texture size for almost everything, while other modders go for insanely high res textures for some reason.
even 256x256 pawn and armor textures are an upgrade over vanilla, since unmodified vanilla textures is just half of that, 64x64 for items like resources, 128x128 for pawns and armor

The Toxifier Generator is the best power generator in game with next to no real downsides, pretty much invalidates all other powers once you figure it out

Raiders loves kids. They sometime drop pod right on top of the kid's room or spawns when your kid happens to be nature running near the edge of the map and those fuckers kidnap your baby.

There's also genetics to get into, perfect for creating god pawns with your natural gameplay's couple chemistry, as well as the entirety of the mech bits. Consider making a good melee fighter kid to be a mechlord for you. Tough, nimble, maybe jogger or fast runner. Brawler is okay and you don't usually want mechanitors shooting due to accuracy debuffs, but I'm leaving this open for your decision if you do it at all since heavy SMGs/LMGs/miniguns/shotguns are great as ranged options for them even with their accuracy debuffs.

I get the notification that one of my colonists is going to have a babby in 6 days and to be prepared, this followed a siege. After that suddenly bam, lights are dimming. Managed to deal with that, fuckers took out my geothermal because I hadn't walled it yet like a retard, my builder took her first foray into go-juice because I also had to build some containment as well as they were the first downed anomalies I had encountered and I only got plasteel stocked recently, I hadn't even fixed up the random damage to my perimeter that fuckwit animals were trying to wander through before a mechhive with 4 centipedes spawns in the corner. Luckily I had a nociosphere at the ready or I would have been screwed, they beat the sphere down but each centi took ~40% damage, and only two of the lesser bots survived.
I'm finally able to rebuild my generator and build the fucking hospital bed I had queued as soon as the 6 day warning pops and I see up top "corn has died from poison". Fucking toxic fallout, which wouldn't have been so bad but the non-stop action had just thrown one of my guys into a food binge, and I have a pretty abysmal animal situation caused by my only halfway competent cook spending a lot of his early days in a go-juice deprived stupor, and only having 4 skill and a minor passion to start with meaning I was pastemaxxing up until a while and avoiding butchery until the whole situation was getting out of control.

This last fight was dangerous for her though, she is just 16 so her body size is not the best and she came just after the arcotech leg operation so she was throwing vomit to the war queen.
The question now is, if its worth to turn one of my Kiiros into a mechanitor, Kiiros have an utility accessory (screwdriver, something you can buy from the watch artisan merchant) twhich improves their mech related skills like shredding and repairing them.

Checked the save file, it says 10 colonists died. Nobody ever died though. This would make sense though since the AI tries to go easy on you if your guys die. The previous save too, that one says 6 people died even though nobody died.
And of course who knows what else is wrong with it all, that's just a tidbit I found in the save file, no way I can browse through it all and debug everything

Well yes I agree they are best in principle, but Toxifiers still win because of the following:
There is a limit to them set by the map you are on, once you built all you cannot build more, and on their own they only give enough power to cover early game and maybe mid game if you got really lucky with number and location.
Location is the second matter. Their spawn locations are set. You cannot move them. Where Geothermal Generators can be built are always where geothermal vents spawn, and they can only spawn outside (never under a mountain) and can spawn in quite inconvenient locations like the edges of maps, which in practice means that unless you want to really extend your base and power lines you will only use about half of the geothermals or less present on your map, and if you do make use of it all you are just more compromised to events cutting off your power.

I agree they are easy to keep powered. You still need to farm though, while toxifier costs nothing and does almost double power as chemfuel generator. If you need to fuel it is by definition not free power. The farming you spend on fueling it could be spent farming trade resources like smokeleaf or psychoid leaf. You are also investing manual work and colonists to either turning products into chemfuel or managing boomalopes when they could be doing something else.

Also both of these just become a lot less strong if you go full mountain hermit life while Toxifier is just as good for mountain bases as anything else.

Nearest neighbor will give you more pixelated upscales so it's usually better for downscaling. It doesn't matter that much here since it's pixelated in the first place.
Bilinear is a little more blurry. That can be good or bad depending on your preference.
Area, Bicubic, and Lanczos look the same to me except each one added a little more contrast than the previous.
Even if you can spot the difference now you won't be able to tell the difference in game so just pick one. Lanczos is popular and commonly used.

How the fuck did the birthing process, wherein the fucking husband and doctor SPRINT to the hospital then just stand around idly while the pregnant pawn crawls to them even make it out of beta, let alone persist in-game for years?
At some point thousands of players must have thought, "Why the fuck don't the doctor and husband go walk with the wife or carry her even if she hasn't collapsed?"

Lost my Shooting Specialist (on a crew of Starjacks that desperately have to kill any threat before it gets into melee range because they all suck at melee) because I didn't notice that when I clicked to have my pawns exploring some scarlands ruins that his dot was in the doorway into the next room instead of just before it. 4 turrets opened up on him and a hunter drone rushed him and blew his head clean off immediately. He didn't even have a chance to turn around to run away because of the stagger from the turrets.

it's immersive and makes sense, just as much as food and power supply lines do.
Sure, pawns taking 20 minutes out of the day to shower or shit might be cutting into the work hours but if you're feeling really jewish you can just increase the global research speed / work speed. I have the sex mod for the same reason, I want my pawns to be more than just murder mode / work mode. Slowing down production and bills really is not that big of a deal in the long term anyway, but that's probably because I have experience in thousands of hours already

Best case scenario, I notice the tiny message that says their pregnancy entered the third trimester, but even then, that means there are 6 days left on it. It's fucking annoying.
Kind of like how there's no fucking way to set a doctor to be "on call" and get their retarded asses out of bed when 6 near-death pawns enter the hospital. Or how a doctor assigned to any task that requires walking or working on something a long time will spend half a fucking day doing that while colonists bleed out right next to them. Can't assign them to research or do plant work or mine because they'll spend hours doing that shit instead of tending a bleeding spouse or child. You have to set your fucking medical pawns to do nothing but clean and let them be idle for 99% of the day, and you have to do this with at least 2 doctors, otherwise a pawn could bleed out while the doctor sleeps.
It's asinine and if I were a dev on the game it would've been at the fucking tippy top of the to-do list back in alpha. Having to micro doctors to get them to do their jobs has been one of the dumbest parts of the game for its entire existence.

Because docs wont tend people who just walk around, they need the dude to be laying in bed.
It tends to happen when there is a conflict between patient job and other, you see sick pawn laying in bed and then wake up and go to work because "patient" is lower than whatever work needs to be done.

And I reloaded, and the guy lived, but then another pawn died the same way. She didn't get tended for some fucking reason and ended up with only 75% immunity. Last time, when the guy died, she was the first pawn to hit 100% immunity. I'm not low on medicine. It's something fucked up like my doctors going to sleep or doing something else and not tending sick pawns while they lie in bed all day.

I think the thing I dislike the most about Hooman Cute and maybe full-legged body retextures in general is that there are barely any shoes. They only come in full body clothes like power armors or bunny suits and seeing most raiders and traders come barefoot is just really odd. I really appreciate Kurin Meow Edition for having a set of equippable and visible shoes even if most of them don't serve much purpose gameplay-wise

Everything in your kitchen layout exist to make food poisoning happen.
The only path to your food storage (assuming top of kitchen is food storage) is through the kitchen itself, which means pawns dirtying the kitchen area every time they walk through to grab their grub
Butchering Table in same room as cooking station is original rimworld sin, you are never supposed to have them in same room, butchering table is a filth generator, therefore it increases food poisoning too
It makes sense neither mechanically nor flavour wise

I see your point. In the future I'm going to be removing that small barracks with the 2 beds and turning that giant room with the glass wall into a common area, so when I do that I'll probably improve the freezer situation.

I plan on putting fridges to act sort of like vending machines in that big common area (and maybe in a couple other spots too?) configured ONLY to hold meals and I'll keep meals and raw food separated such that the kitchen has easy access to raw food but meals are stored elsewhere to avoid people tracking through the kitchen a lot.

Currently, the kitchen is kept pretty clean by two overlapping trash cans (I forget what mod they're from), but I'm pretty sure there's a short window where the filth is still in the kitchen before the bins collect it which could allow for food poisoning. I'm also not sure if the bin being inside the kitchen contributes to filth/food poisoning.
