it is everything. You really cannot understand how bad it is until you try playing it. All of the problems just compound on each other.
>constant nonstop hunger, all food heals less (and if you try to cheese the hunger system youll end up with permanent debuffs)
>mining everything is slow as fuck
>need to mine a lot of ores because every recipe takes 5-6x as many resources as vanilla (a hopper is like 22 iron)
>slow as fuck because you cant craft any mobility
>random enemies that one shot you through steel armor (I got fishing rodded and one shot by a brutish pigman in the nether, then spent 30m trying to get my shit back)
>spend 30 minutes mining 12 stacks of tin - then it takes another 30 minutes to smelt them
>constant microcrafting for retarded shit (I fucking hate the water bucket recipes for all the bricks)
>the few machines you have are slow as fuck, almost borderline unusable
>cant automate anything
THANKFULLY it gets a lot better once your each LV and most of these issues go away as you unlock new stuff. Its seriously so fucking bad up until LV.

That's like when a shitty hollywood movie set in 14th century has a guy wearing 16/17th century armor and he gets one shot by an arrow. Peak normie understanding of armor. Stop playing such garbage.

>hunger
>mining is slow
These I agree with, especially the hunger, it's pure busywork for no benefit
>need to mine a lot
This I wouldn't mind if you didn't need to set up so much infrastructure pre-LV. With some experience you can budget your stuff but you shouldn't need multiple playthroughs of the early game to be able to enjoy it; and when you're doing it for the first time it really feels like pulling teeth whenever you need to craft more and more shit. So yeah I agree to a degree. Especially combined with
>can't automate anything
It's nice to have tangible progression where breaking through to the machine age feels like a massive leap forward, but it's just the sheer combination of how expensive everything is ANd how expensive automation itself is that's painful.

>slow as fuck
>random enemies one-shot you
>constant microcrafting
Unironically skill issue
>spend 30 minutes mining 12 stacks
Not actually that much
>another 30 minutes to smelt
Do something else in the meantime, go gather some more clay, expand your crops, spend some more time building your base so you have a larger mob-free safe area, or even go mine 12 stacks of another metal in the meantime. Then have it smelt while you make use of your now-ready tin.

It's terrible when you come in with a vanilla mindset where you expect everything to be doable in one sitting, multitasking to be unnecessary, and everything to be cheap enough to craft from base materials. But once you get used to greg style, it's really not so bad.
>>
>>545166361
more packs need to add unique stuff like that, so many of them are too constrained by the mod selection and don't really do anything original by themselves
>>

The thing with spice of life and hunger is that you get the hunger axe really early on, thus negating spice of life for the remaining 4500+ hours you take to build the stargate. Why even bother having it in the pack?
>>
>>545194592
>really early on,
Not even, only after spending five trillion hours grinding pam's harvestcraft.
Yeah you're right that in the grand scheme of things it's irrelevant for 98% of the pack's duration. But in the early game it's beyond obnoxious and the way to make it irrelevant is itself beyond obnoxious.

I kinda wanted to interact with spice of life instead of using the cuck axe this entire run, but getting permanent haste requires 90% nutrition in every category... which is ridiculous and retardedly grindy
realistically you need automatic crop farms to get some of the aids shit like dairy or fruits, and by the time you unlock those you have access to miners anyways which kills the point of having haste

I fucking hate crafting pumps
Everything else is fine but pumps are megaids
>hurr you can either use your consumable tools or do it in an assembler
>durr it needs SIX different random ass microcraft intermediaries that you have to shove into your assembler
>some of them are expensive (motors) and others craft in stacks of five billion at a time (screws, or pipes that take 3 ingots for some fucking reason so you put in a stack of ingots and get ??? pipes back) so you will NEVER have an exact set of items
>each tier obviously needs new versions of each item
After 300 hours of gregtech I still never remember from the first try what all the six ingredients of a pump are, and my assembler is ALWAYS clogged with like two different sets of 3-4 leftover screws and some random rotors and pipes that I can't be bothered to go back and sort properly into their proper chests every single time

I fucking HATE pumps

Doesn't Shit of Life force you to eat fifty different foods on rotation because otherwise their caloric value drops to the equivalent of one berry? I haven't played GTNH in five years but from what I remember you couldn't really eat just a single food, even if it's a beef wellington.
>>
>>545257875
there are 4 different berry bushes you can find
each berry can be crafted into juice, smoothies, jellies, and yogurts for zero effort, especially with nei autocrafting
that's at least 20 different food types you can rotate with one high value food like wellington, which is also free

Minecraft mod idea:
It's a Herobrine mod but instead of being a spooky guy he is just kind of a ghost companion that floats around the player sometimes and puts cool one liners in chat depending on what the player does!
He will also have things to say about different biomes and structures the player walks in
Also ig you stand around too much he will either get fed up and dip or just fall asleep with a funny animation
>>
>>545273284
Also its client sided and only you can see and hear him so it's also kind of a schizo Steve mod in a way.

Rare weekday pathserbing. Tonight I will try to build as many of these AFK fish farms as possible. Farmer's Delight adds a recipe to turn fish into bonemeal, which I need enormous amounts of. My attempt at a mob grinder was a big failure so this is plan B.
If it works out the farm will be housed in another nice brick factory hall, close to spawn but not too close since I don't know how laggy these machines are. They spew out XP orbs which I can't think of any way of dealing with.

13 afk fish farms. I'll mirror and copy the whole thing and have a nice factory hall. Then maybe I'll even copy the whole thing a second time, we'll see.

Bit of a snag though as it turns out Farmer's Delight cutting boards can't be automated. At least not with normal deployers rightclicking. Think that we need Create Slice & Dice for this, not sure. This means turning fish to bonemeal doesn't actually fucking work unless I'm standing there myself with the mouse button held down. Should have checked beforehand but I'm a moron.

Other than that these farms are absolutely great, produce some rather significant XP too. Of course I already have a silverfish farm for XP but this one is totally hands-free.
