In my experience more important than teh stats sparks (though they help) is getting a red spark for distance aptitude (so medium/mile/whatever you want to build) and getting good skills (groundwork and speed up greens for fronts, style based corner or just generic good skills). Parent farming is EXTREMELY unfun though, so I recommend not overdoing it and just renting one of the parents for every ace run.
