I could have been a legendary Flash dev. But nooooo I dropped the thought of being a gamedev and didn't attempt until the late 2010's when the Silver Age had begun. Oh what's that? Golden Age lasted almost a decade? Surely the Silver Age will last almost a decade too!

Adobe doesn't work well with wine, so if you don't need to use Adobe shit you should probably find alternatives. Gimp is still fucking awful though, Krita and Inkscape are usable, Aseprite is best if doing pixelshit, Blender is good for many tasks, I use Shotcut for minor video editing.

If you're not sure install linux on a partition or another SSD and see how it goes. I still have my old windows drive and can mount it in linux to retrieve files.

Genre's experiencing a Great Conjunction:
>Friend-slop
>Idle / Incremental games
>Horror meta-genre (various subgenre's)
>Simulation
>Rage games
>Autobattlers
>(MAYBE) Vampire Survivors gen 2

I suck at gamedev, they'd be at best low quality game's in many cases. Also friend slop is out of the question, I'm slow at devving. Adding coop on top will slow me hard unless the game is super simple.
>>
>>545324728
my perspective was skewed because I started with game modding really young, but mapping with existing content is easy. UE1 has a lot of weird shit that I just got used to a long time ago but the community patches make the tools significantly better. The reason U1 and UT99 have a bajillion community maps and mods is because it's so easy, and no complex mod managers are needed to use custom maps, no fretting over "load order" just pick and choose what you want when you start a match. Ever used Thief TDP's DromEd? UnrealEd2 is a million times better. UnrealEd1 was written in visual basic in 1998 and it's still better.

Modding is so nice in a way because projects can be as large or small as you want, and you are never creating something from nothing.

Workflow-wise, UnrealEd2 really different from trenchbroom or any modern engine tools. Is it "hard"? no. If children in the early 2000s with no youtube tutorials could figure it out, you can too.
>>
>>545325642
Fair but also there's a bunch of other shit to do like finishing the map which also requires more assets, its just not ready. On the plus side next demoday should be around january which would make a snowlike more topical, for northern hemisphere people at least.

>>warmth orb has snowy trees
>literally unplayable
Now have to make the snow melt the more warmth you have.
>also why even have such big buildings get in the way, when you could just cut them short like the sims or something?
The buildings are there to get in the way. And I was making the houses semi-transparent but the z-ordering issue was still there. Now I have this outline shader I want to use it instead.

People who are professionally focused on games in the indie scene are operating on a whole different level. They are living and breathing gamedev 24/7 with the goal that it will end on a deadline.

A scammer on the v3expo Discord is sending private messages offering a free year of "Claude Code" and "Comet Browser" for game development. They provide a referral link to the Comet Browser, which earns them $3. The scammer then instructs you to log in with your Google account on your mobile device to "sync" your data. This will give them access to your personal information, such as your Gmail and contacts, across multiple devices. I tried telling the owner of the Discord, but he blocked my private messages.

I haven't posted any progress in two weeks I think. The reason why is because the code turned into spaghetti and any kind of feature adding or bug fixing turned into too much of a chore. Plus there were some parts which needed re-writing. It was a risk as I wanted to submit to demo day and I had no idea how long it would take.
Finally I have the game back to as it was and it is more manageable and features like the player card swiping / stat calculation works alot better. I still have a couple of small bugs to fix, and hopefully add some stock menu music. But I should have a version for DD.
The demo won't be too feature rich. But Pass, Shoot, Tackle, Save and scoring goals will be present.

Mojito Woody Rescue does not look as good as Bokube 8 years ago, but neither does Bokube today. Woody Rescue seems like a genuinely interesting and fun game in comparison to modern Bokube.

i think this is because people are stressed out and tired from work and want easy and simple games that they can mindlessly play when they're bored of scrolling tiktok
the difficult part for developers won't be creating these games, but instead will be coming up with ideas of which the fantasy will have a strong enough appeal to compete with other games of a similar nature
the average indiedev fails to understand this state of mind because it's understood that gamedev requires intense amounts of time and effort that only a chronic NEET or underperformer is willing to provide
if you're willing to become an indie dev, the odds of you suffering through the wagie life enough to be able to understand what the average gamer desires is low
bored NEETs with infinite energy and free time and zero stress are making games to appeal to people similar to themselves, when the average gamer wants a game that appeals to miserable stressed out wagies who hate their daily lives and desire a low effort fantasy world to escape into after a 12 hour foreskin scalping shift at the amazon adrenochrome factory
there is a complete disconnect between indie devs and gamers
think of it as a "let them eat cake" moment
>>
>>545340363
tldr make easy games
bonus points for having an appealing fantasy/story/theme/narrative
bonus bonus points for having an addicting progression structure that motivates players to grind your game after the initial appeal wears off

An hour listening to some guy explain how the hell you generate 3D from a 2D image. And the fucked up thing is that it's all hype and bullshit, and it's just an NN that encodes images into latent space and another

NN that decodes them into a voxel model. Literally, those assholes spend 500 billion on that bullshit.

No, dude, just give me 5 trillion USD and I'll do a massive recursive linear algebra multiplication to make porn wifus.

And the funny thing is that videogame CEOs are more hyped over some CS math thinking is some skynet satanic sci fi BS with super SOVL over what fucking is, just a calculator doing some BS math problem.

I'm cooked bro's! I thought it was going to release a lot sooner but I'm questioning whether it'll even be available this year! However I have been contemplating just making it singleplayer. A few too many things are making me sus that development is going to get slowed hard by trying to make the game multiplayer compatible. Not because the current stuff needs it since that part should be easy as it's primarily just passing data. It's more so that stuff yet to be added needs to function well enough in a multiplayer setting and I am not confident I can pull that off in a reasonable time frame.

No, gamers won't get tired of fun games with interesting concepts. What is tired and already worn out though is calling everything slop to cope with being out of touch and miserable. Gamers don't care about that or think like that, just talking heads who want to be /ourguy/ and hipsters from /v/.

progress of AI is good, I have no problem with it but assuming it's going to create entire games on its own and have them be good is just retarded. it lacks any and all artistic vision. it's great for programming and even some forms of art but just prompting AI "hey make me a FEAR like game but cooler" isn't going to make anything substantially interesting. Use AI to code, make models, textures, don't care but the pieces still need to be put together by someone with SOME kind of vision.

Hello sirs I am trying to develop a game with use for AI that has a headquarters and becomes a company that will be a system. I need a developer to work with me on this huge project. It might take her 9 months or more depending on the work. When the team is complete, the work will be divided, legal agreements will be signed, and so on. The way of work is voluntary work At first with his future participation in A percentage of profits or returns after publication
>>
>>545344245
>the pieces still need to be put together by someone with SOME kind of vision.
That's correct. Gamedevs will be using AI to make games while anon basically posts them everywhere and says "See I told you I was smart for adopting AI early". This is all he will ever be able to do. If he was able to make a game with AI he would be posting that instead. Or more likely not, because it would look terrible lol

I love video games. There are so many great video games coming out on a daily basis that I never find myself wanting for more games. My backlog is huge and it can only ever grow.

Whenever I look through this thread, I almost never see a game comparable in quality to the top games releasing on Steam. How many of developers here are making a game that stands a chance at even making it onto New & Trending? Probably not even 10% of the devs here.

Sincerely, King Crab

Yes it's bullshit but this time big tech companies are passing the same big ball of money around between themselves. And these companies have practically unlimited cash reserves that they previously had in offshore accounts that they couldn't bring back without getting slapped with a tax bill. So despite the daily articles about AI data breaches, limited applications, etc that would pop any other bubble, it's probably going to stick around for a while simply because big tech wants it to.
