Here's my solution to the poe loot problem. Once you get to t1 / t2 modifiers there are "transfigured modifiers" that are mathematically similar but different. So once you get to t2+ you basically triple the number of mods avaliable so you get insane item variance

Async trade means more supply of items and lower prices. People complain that loot feels bad now and yet we already have too much loot for the economy to absorb when there's no friction. Async trade needs to charge the seller a gold fee just like it charges the buyer. It's just that simple.

The abstract problem is that as players get better gear the relative likelihood of a good item dropping decreases. Its kind of like a gacha. Async trade and the tree both increase player power. You go from finding a good item ever 100 kills to finding a good item every 1,000,000 kills. Is there something going on with General's Cry or Tectonic Slam of Cataclysm? I am playing it currently and with 10 endurance charges and a 1000 pdps weapon I feel like my 6 link general's cry barely does any damage.
