Yeah, as silly it looks this is supposed to be a suppressor attachment. Here's how it sounds btw (also, don't mind the 3-round burst mode, that's just because the champion skin was imposed onto heroic bolter):

>>545637525
Yes
Watch the Astartes animation as well if you haven't, it was done by the same guy and was what got him hired
>>
>>545637525
The animation is good but otherwise I prefer my space marines to be overzealous pretentious retards like in Dawn of War. Not machine-like tacticool operators who don't communicate like in Astartes. That's cringe as fuck.

Also had some weird stuff like the bladeguards leave their shield behind for no reason. That's just a blatant tactical error and the plot armor kick in as they find a space marine-sized debris with a handle that they can use as a shield.
And of course it makes sense for the climax and the suspense but in terms of the character's portrayal it's weird how Titus was shown to be such a slowpoke. If he hadn't been so slow to act, the 2 bladeguard vets would be alive and the nignog would be uninjured.

Since some 40k game soundtracks popped up, I just wanna add how run-off-the-mill SM2's soundtrack sounds. It's one of the biggest culprits in the game for me. Especially during the campaign at no point do you feel that grim warhammer darkness that's staple of 40k. And when you switch to PvE you're better off muting the OST and putting on something more thematic in the background anyway. I've been playing some Darktide lately because my friend got it and that game's soundtrack is miles ahead of SM2. Especially if we consider the world building aspect of music and selling the setting's atmosphere . Stuff like these are good examples of what I mean:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTLtdBxF1Tc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5ozcKqF4E8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX2fGLCd5vY

It IS Jesper Kyd though, so I shouldn't be surprised by high quality of the finished product. The dude knows his craft. I wonder if he'd be up for making music for some Space Marine 3... But really the music should get people pumped for the setting/fighting. Give me choir for the main theme, something high octane to get the blood pumping. Sometimes I feel many devs/companies don't care enough or at all about making fitting music for their games.

Brass should be a staple of an SM focused soundtrack. Mechanicus tomb divers get their slow dungeon synths/ambience, grimy criminals in a hive get their gothic industrial/electronic, marines should get big ol military pride stuff, almost renaissance in nature.

For all we know Leandros either got promoted or died.
Would be neat if Vespasius got to be the new chaplain for 2nd Company
>>
>>545699765
That's actually really cool. Maybe it's a bit gay but it feels nice to follow his story along in SM2 and now seeing him in real time get back his previous position and status.
Also for all the bad choices it does prove SM2 was very successful and Saber did a good enough job that GW is canonizing their stuff into the plastic which for GW is the highest recognition they tend to give.

Yeah, they're apart of his command structure for the whole reclamation of 500 worlds thing.

>Newly promoted at Titus’ express recommendation, despite his relative youth among veterans, Ancient Gadriel hefts the massive banner of the Second Company and can always be found in the thickest fighting alongside the Captain’s mentor, Veteran Sergeant Metaurus. Both have ample experience fighting alongside Titus, and he values their advice above all others.

>On the shorter side, Gaius Silva commands a vast fleet of Ultramarian defence ships and is an expert at handling the tensions between an overworked mortal crew and their often-pitiless masters, making him an essential part of Titus’ muster.
>Amelia Minervas is a highly respected Legatus in the Ultramar Defence Auxilia and serves as the command team’s liaison to its legions of human soldiery. Lucia Vestha joins Titus’ war councils as a valued plenipotentiary and diplomat whose keen negotiating skills have saved the Second Company from needless battle on countless occasions, while the sharp-tongued and forthright Dainal Kornelius is a veteran Astropath who has served survived for over 100 years in the Ultramarines’ employ.

Squad composition seems pretty flexible because Inferno was Talasa but it was done by Valius, Decimus, and Straban.
Decimus is mostly Veridian and they change up squads again in the final campaign mission where it goes all-ranged Talasa (Valius, Scipius, Straban) and all-melee Veridian (Vespasius, Decimus, Quartus)

Yeah. I was just say that’s what the canon team composition was for those missions, since I remember there being unique interactions for those characters in those levels, just like Inferno’s elevator ride. I just can’t get them to trigger anymore. They should be up on YouTube somewhere.
>>
>>545704734
Is ancient just a rank like corporal? Don't you need to be actually, you know, ancient?
>>
>>545707467
Inferno's elevator conversation only occurs if there's at least two canonical squadmembers (Tact, Vanguard, Heavy).
I don't think there's another instance of that in Operations afaik. You also get to see whose departing for their respective missions during the campaign mode too.
>>
>>545707294
There is no conflict to resolve
Titus has done everything you could ask of a marine and stayed pure in the eyes of all his men. Leandros is fucking delusional because he got told off on Graia in Space Marine 1
From Leandros perspective there is no possible proof of purity left and Titus is already committed to serving until death
From Titus perspective he has simply accepted that Leandros does his hall monitor duty as their chaplain
Now they either work together or they don't
>>
The reason Leondros isn't mentioned is because the tabletop already has a new Chaplan model GW sells and the blog post is about selling the new models.
Chairon doesn't have an excuse yet.
>>
>>545706196
If that's the case, according to Skyfire, Talasa is
>Decimus, Valius, Straban

>>
>>545707869
Nah right before Voidsong, you canonically hear Talasa being led by Vespasius with comments later down the line with Valius present while Decimus is leading Veridian in Vox Liberatis.
Decimus' little chat window actually confirms him being Veridian most of the time so gets to have the Daemonhost, Heldrake, and Trygon on his kill-list.

Yeah the elevator talk can still get to be played but those mission specific dialogue don't pop up anymore. I asked around but got no feedback on it. I guess it must be tied to the campaign progress.

I really don't think Saber put any thought into the side characters. Since you can pick any of them anyway.
However, in the ending cutscene of the game when Titus gets his helmet laurels, only Vespasius and Valius have excessive bling that they didn't have during the campaign so they were probably meant to be the two leaders at least.

Considering this development, are we even going to play as Titus in Space Marine 3?

Like I know he was Captain in SM1, but consider the fact he was put on the front line so the devs could actually write him out of being Captain. Titus was like half-canon because he conflicted with the established lore of the time. Now that he's Captain again due to his popularity and GW themselves doing it, I don't see him getting the boot again.

Personally, I think we might be playing as e.g. Gadriel as the protagonist of SM3, and maybe you get to play as Titus in the last mission as a "hooraah fuck Necrons" segment with some busted mechanics.

If Saber had any intelligence, they would imitate this as much as possible. It gives them more cosmetics to sell, more cosmetics to dish out during events. Now it's not a complete shoulder, it's a trim for one of three slots on your shoulder. It's not a chest piece, it's a belt that can go with any chest etc.
>>
>>545752175
It saddens me that up until now they've completely disregarded tabards and leg guards. The latter might have gotten some pieces but the customization of kneepads is non existent.

The most hilarious part about this project is that it's the most upvoted one on their forums with good boi points: https://community.focus-entmt.com/focus-entertainment/space-marine-2/ideas/8019-%E2%96%AAmodular-customization%E2%96%AA
yet Saber haven't even slightly acknowledged it. So they're either doing it or will make their own bootleg, limited version.

You should be able to just walk up to them and be able to execute them.

Honestly every enemy in chaos is annoying in some way that nids aren't.

Given game progression, I always had in my mind that Chaos was supposed to be tougher than Tyranids, as far as game mechanics go because of your points and no synapse backlash.
The increased cultist spawns and sorcerer doombolts do make me want to take the Volkite pistol against them, but staggering a Terminator with a plasma shot can save a run too.
>>
>>545761101
>worst of both the neurothrope and carnifex rolled into one terminus
The Helbrute can be staggered out of animations unlike the Carnifex. Plus environments can block a charged plasma cannon shot so I think a Helbrute is actually the easiest terminus spawn.
The hardest part is getting a bunch of spawns and terminators spawning with it.

>>545761101
helbrute only has one or two unblockable attacks, i know its against my best interest, but it feels odd to be able to parry a thunderhammer

>>
>>545775476
Aside from like the power fist imo, half the reason the strong shit is fun to use is because it's strong.
Nerfing that stuff won't make the shitty weapons any better. In fact it might exacerbate their shittiness by reducing any synergy they have with the better shit. Not to mention create more shitty weapons that would then require rebuffing.
Would be such a retarded situation.

I'm glad they've been mainly just buffing shit every patch. Aside from the lazy 15-20% damage buffs for bolters we keep getting, everything else seems to be pretty substantial.
Patch 11 looks like it'll make the power axe, bolt pistol, and bolt sniper rifle top tier. The heroic chainsword's getting mechanical upgrades like more finishers being changed and more perk synergy with the new finishers.

The multi melta getting nerfed a little seemed stupid though, considering it already wasn't that good pre-nerf.

That Fall of Atreus is complete and utter bullshit. We had multiple Meatball swarms, multiple double or even triple sorcerer spawns, AND 2 Helbrutes. One just before the second Dreadnought encounter, and another when we entered the battery area. We were able to hold it down through multiple deaths. I will say we got lucky twice when the game bugged out during the first Dreadnought encounter and no enemies spawned in so he just went straight to the door, and in the second, we mulched a tide of Meatballs and then it just stopped and let us through. The finale came down to the Bulwark doing the final wave by himself hiding at the back. The Heavy spawned back in and instantly went down, but was able to launch the ship with his dying breath, which spawned me back in, and I was IMMEDIATELY being shredded by like 6 Rubricae at the top while the dialog played. I had the tiniest amount of health when the screen went black. It couldn't have been any closer. If the Heavy had been any slower on the button or if I had taken one more bolt, we'd have failed. Classic stripes or Codex colors for helmet rank signifiers?

This grind is no fun at all
The stalker (currently purple) does less damage than my plasma pistol and has 1/4th the ammo
The auspex is great for dealing with priority targets but I am too defenseless against hordes, cleaving with the chainsword into groups of hormagaunts with a bunch of termagants backing them up always results in a negative trade for me. The drain on healthpacks is insane and I'm a burden to my teams and none of my weapons deal enough burst damage to restore my contest health before it starts depleting even with the team perk for that active

Tactical's stalker effectively has infinite ammo because he gains ammo on majoris kills and stalker has perks for refunding ammo on headshots and just hitting enemies. You can use the damage stalker and just shoot everything you see and almost never run out of ammo.
Parrying and just shooting your stalker into hordes that don't have majoris is still effective enough at killing them.

You would have to roll in an entirely new set of armor, AND roll in an entirely new batch of weapons that are exclusive to them, AND make a new character from scratch with all new voice lines from the entire Operations group, AND try to justify them showing up for just a single TS warband showing up for a fucking Ultramarine game. That IS a techmarine though. Sure it's IH so he also does chaplain duties, and he's more senior than the techpriest we're likely to get in the game being the head honcho techpriest of his chapter, but he's still primarily a techpriest.
Saying he isn't is sort of like saying that Azariah Kyras wasn't a chapter master because he was also a librarian and was a named character.
An iron hands champion skin for the techmarine has a decent likelihood of being based on that model, all things considered.

nta but I guess you could go for FDM printing with resin being a lot more toxic. The latter also requiring a lot prep work and generally you need to take precautions when handling this stuff prior to curing it. That said, both are very viable options long term if you're willing to commit.

FDM is kind of dogshit for making miniatures. There's a reason resin is so hazardous and is still in use. You can go on youtube and mess around with the slicer settings a little, but FDM is mainly good at building big (the size of a grapefruit or watermelon) simple objects.
>>
>>545873124
>FDM is kind of dogshit for making miniatures.
Yeah, I wouldn't recommend printing minis with FDM. Truth be told thouch you can get *quite* close to resin if you use specific filament and a smaller nozzle. It will obviously not be as smooth and details will be lost, sadly, but it could be done. But, I gotta say, things like Land Raiders or Thunderhawks come out beautifully. Anyway, maybe once I get another place to store resin printer and all the necessities I'll upgrade. For now I gotta stick with FDM.
>>
>>545871748
fdm cannot make those mechandrites, people like to say "muh 3d printing", but that doesnt work for most things that are really fine, the most you can do is make relatively medium size geometric shapes. you would need sla printer, then you can make very fine and precise things

>went from more or less 150 hours when I started, to 268 hours by the time I finally prestige IV'd and maxed out my last class
By no means was I using the most efficient levelling method available (especially since I was only playing on ruthless and lethal for a while as I got used to the game again) but holy shit is that a ridiculous amount of time to max everything out, which honestly I wouldn't even mind so much if you didn't have to reset your progress four fucking times for every single class. It's so lame to play the game for so many hours while not even being able to use your class' entire kit, especially for classes like Assault or Vanguard that feel neutered without certain perks.

It'd make more sense for it to be an XP bar separate from your main progression so you still have your core kit as you play, which would probably incentivise people to try out stratagems even if they're not maxed out. I can only guess Saber's logic is the way it is now is better for player retention, and therefore players will be more likely to buy cosmetic packs. That's the only logical explanation I can think of as for why they'd ever do it this way, especially considering there were apparently people on their forums telling them how terrible of an idea this system is before it went live. I just can't think of a reason for it that isn't cynical.

Fun thing about Exarchs is that they can punch way above "their level". A Howling Banshee Exarch once murdered both a Chapter Master and his honour guard and that's not far from what they can do on the tabletop.

Everyone does in writing, basically any space marine with a surname wins a fistfight with an avatar of khaine. But TT is really not the place to lean on for eldar power, basic tyranid warriors kind of make them look like chumps there, and they aren't really any stronger than rubrics either.
The chart's being pretty generous to eldar as it is.

Following the lore means anything can happen because there is no canonical measurement to anything in 40K
1 marine can kill dozens of eldar solo
1 eldar can kill dozens of custodes solo
1 custodes can kill dozens of marine solo
and thus we've completed a loop where anything and everything can happen
>>
>>545886782
>and thus we've completed a loop where anything and everything can happen
Exactly. And that's somewhat how the chart was made, because in a videogame you can and will always find a reason for X to beat Y. Let's not pretend games aren't there for entertainment, which often means doing things that don't fall in line with source material (though in 40k power levels and who can kill who is bullshit anyway). Some will not like it but for the purpose of the plot and gameplay that's how it's going to be most of the time if not always.
>>
>>545878565

>>

I am not a specialist, but would a lady with a power glaive that can carve up termies left and right and kill chapter masters really lose terribly to tyranid warriors on the tabletop? Aren't they basically the type of infantry she is supposed to be good against?
>basically any space marine with a surname wins a fistfight with an avatar of khaine
Haha. In Mars trilogy an avatar tanks a power fist, regenerates the wound and oneshots the named Black Templar chaplain (reclusiarch?) in return. It's kind of wat but also really funny because he enters the story for that short segment in one chapter to kill this lone space marine and then walks away, never to be heard of again.
>>
>>545880128
That's ridiculous already, I agree. But I also agree with anons that said the Eldar don't really feel like a horde faction. Enemies in both SM games all do have some chaff, orks have orks, gretchins, squigs. Tyranids have gaunts and are really the hordest of them all. Chaos has human cultists in both games and beastmemes in the second. Dark Eldar would suit these games' style better, I feel, since they aren't above utilising mercenaries from other races, can be grown in vats and then there are haemonculi with their crimes against nature.

The best use of Eldar in a Space Marine type game would be something like Eternal Crusade, unironically.

Ammo recovery perks and health recovery perks are bad.

Ranged weapons should simply be stronger at the cost of limited ammo supply, and melee should play a bigger focus. Deeper combo system, all moves serve a purpose, more countering via recognizing enemy stances and using the right melee attack, ledges should be dangerous instead of having invisible barriers everywhere etc.

That’s crazy cuz it’s pretty much his strongest gun
Heavy Bolter can’t match it in DPS and also has to hit only headshots to come close, and regular charged plasma has to charge, which is clunky when you’re getting swarmed
I used to think it was kind of ass too, but after hard carrying the last few weekly hard strats with it with like 40K+ ranged damage on the latest one, my mind has been changed
Ammo economy isn’t really a huge issue as long as you use your sidearm sometimes and consistently get those extremis executions

At least you have a real melee weapon you can put block on and everything.
Your class ability is top tier.
Your primaries are top tier in nid missions, aside from the carbine that's good everywhere imo. And you don't have to kill your mobility to unlock their true potential.

Not to mention you have cool capes to wear.

I'm leveling heavy right now, and it's dogshit.
I miss being able to melee outside of shitty balanced parries and gunstrikes, which I don't count as a melee attack.
I finished leveling the HBR, HP, and HB, so now I'm stuck leveling the MM and HF. So goodbye to range.
At least I'm on my 4th prestige now, and hordes in my face shouldn't be as bad as when I was leveling the bolter.

Also Gravis sucks. Poor man's terminator armor.
It would be fine, like tacticus, if they just let you get rid of the leg tubes and ceramite hood. You can get rid of the hood, but then you're left with like two breast plate options, and one of them's dlc, and it's even chapter specific iirc.

Do Lamenters and Blood Angels even use the laurels on the helmets like the Ultramarines? I thought it was mostly an Ultra thing because of the Roman inspired aesthetic.
>>

A lot of chapters fuck with roman aesthetics, blood angels being one of them.
Laurels are very common across a lot of chapters.

We'd all be wearing generic laurelless MK7 helmets if we could though. Until update 11, we're stuck with laurels.
MK7 looks so good in this game that it's the best helmet in the game imo, even despite the forced laurels and forehead skull.
It's a real step up from the MK8 helmet.
>>
>>545903062
The laurels are a common decoration across all chapters except maybe the space wolves because they have that wolf hyperfixation
>>
>>545903062
The laurels are one of the handful of "universal signs of status and rank" things put on armor across every Chapter. They're often gifted from one Chapter to the other as a matter of respect, and to highlight the battle prowess of cousins they've come to respect. Even the Raven Guard rock the laurels, and they hate shiny shit on their armor.

There’s so many times where I’ve been surrounded in a bad situation and just magdumped into the floor next to the mob and gotten enough executions to live, also helps cuz you can hipfire it and still keep peripheral vision to parry attacks

I'm way too casual to answer that question. SM2 I'm mostly tactical because you can carry around double shock grenades whereas everyone else only has one equipment slot and that just feels unfair.

I think this is one big thing most tourists and newfags to 40K miss when they hear about how fucked up and grimdark the world is. Like sure, you’d have a shitty existence if you lived on a Hive World or Forge World, but if you happened to live on one of the worlds in Ultima Segmentum through most of the Imperium’s history, your daily life really wouldn’t be any different from a Roman citizen at the height of the reign of the 5 Good Emperors sometime around 300AD. You’d wake up early, pray to your local diety (The Emperor), have a meal consisting mostly of fresh grains, vegetables, whatever, and then go to work farming, doing clerical work, or whatever in or near a clean city with beautiful, aesthetic architecture that is honestly better than what we have today (FUCK brutalism and FUCK modern architecture.) You could expect to start a family, have a wife and kids, and die of old age unless you happened to be born in one of those shitty times where you might die to a raid from northern barbarians (Nids, Nurgle.) And honestly, it’s probably a better life than most people on the Earth have today.

The current modifiers is just the devs shilling close combat warfare, why doesn't stratagems have a modifier that does the inverse? Like more damage if you're beyond 30 feet or more?

Fighting Plague Marines would be awesome. Imagine a Doom Eternal style gore system where you're blowing chunks off of them and it's just goo and gore everywhere.
>>
>>545944913
I don't want plague marine executions to heal their allies while damaging everything else around them.
>>
>>545944913
Make it more like Dark Ages, so you can blow their arms and legs off, and they’ll still keep coming at you.
>>

Maybe an Emperor’s Children Warband. They’ve neutered them enough to the point where they’re advertiser friendly now.

Heavy in general can easily carry any mission on Absolute.
But Heroic Plasma, regular Plasma, and Heavy Bolter all have more DPS, more range, more boss damage, and more versatility than multi-melta. Heavy was the first class I got to Prestige 4 back when Prestige dropped on only Absolutes and I’d argue that multi-melta is tied for his weakest weapon with heavy flamer. The only things it does really well is horde clear, and so much other stuff does horde clear that it’s not a niche that really ever needs to be filled.

>Plague Marines

can come equipped with plague swords, blighted bolters, blighted rocket launchers, blighted heavy bolters
when they die they explode and does AoE damage to friend and foe alike

I only play Assault because it's the only class that is close to a "Hero" class that uses melee and guns simultaneously without any other nonsense.

What do I do when Thropes spawn? Pssh...wouldn't you like to know

>Dark Ages
I wonder how many years I'm gonna have to wait for that to drop to $20? I'm not paying $70 for any game that's not Bloodborne 2, and I'm still not sure if the RT is an actual requirement or if I can run it on an AMD card. If not, oh well, guess I'm never playing it.

>>545945769
Oh wait, I forgot Heavy Bolt Rifle even existed. Now THAT’S obviously Heavy’s worst weapon.
>>
>>545945792
The hell is with the terminus level HP

I haven't tried the heroic plasma yet but the regular plasma performed significantly worse for me than the multimelta
The heavy bolter mention surprises me as well it's an absolute beast in PvP but I always thought of it as severely underpowered in operations. It has long range and nice sustained damage but the upfront burst damage is low and the ammo consumption rate for each kill is considerably worse than the melta
You seem to have completely different priorities with your weapon selections than I do. I've never been bothered by the range of the multimelta the biggest downside to it is the mediocre boss damage which I can make work although it helps a lot if I have a tactical or a sniper on the team. In every other regard the multimelta is the best heavy weapon in my eyes

Based.
>fuck thropes
This.
>>
>>545947534
It should've let you equip the knife goddamn it.
So gay they wont let you do shit like that.
Like let assault use primaries if he's not using the fist or hammer. Or let sniper use a chainsword if he's not using a primary. Idk.

Nurgle bestows near invulnerability and high HP to his believers.
>>
>>545947681
Regular Plasma is absolutely unmatched at putting groups of 4-5 ranged warriors into execute at once from a distance, something not really any other class can do
And this didn’t devolve into shitflinging so I’ll just agree to disagree with you then
Hopefully I get you on my squad when I’m playing something other than Heavy sometime, most Heavies I run into these days have to be told that sighting in while firing the heavy flamer makes the flame stream longer

This is going to be the plot to SM3, just as was originally planned. Prepare to have a new protagonist chapter as everyone and their wife’s son wants to join up with Master Titus.
