Sonic himself just doesn't fit with what the franchise has become. He's outdated and has not adapted with the times. The series tries to tell compelling stories but is weighed down by a static cereal mascot who isn't allowed to be at all affected by events. Sonic is the worst part of Sonic because he drags everything else down.
