Question. How do I get out of this type of model. I don't know how to do anything but the lowest poly representation of something. I'm inexperienced with modelling so do I just add more geometry? So instead of making the entire body with 10 quads and having an unusable mess that you can't even subdivide, try starting with one PART of the model and adding geometry until it's suitable.
Example, start with a head or torso.
Let's say you start with the head, instead of adding a single loop cut to a cube and then calling it a day, keep adding geometry and moving vertices until you have a face with eyes, a nose and a mouth as well as ears.
You can import images to use as references which trivializes alot of the work, you should always be using a reference unless you're creating some concept art and then you'd be better off using a pencil.
The idea that you will learn by just making cube people is stupid and wrong you need to add more geometry and more complexity which each model or iteration if you want to learn how to work with higher poly stuff.
Genuinely what you made here is worse than what most people throw together for a placeholder, you must be able to look at this and clearly see the path forward is to add more geometry and use references.

i dunno why PC displays (and games) insist on parity with movies and consoles. resolutions on computers can be pretty arbitrary. don't advertise it 'as' anything, just say what the actual numbers are.

This is such crap. Microsoft treats their customers like cattle but PC gamers are overwhelmingly on windows despite even valve's best efforts. People get dug into products and it makes it very hard to convince them to change.
Of course the irony is valve wanted to support linux because microsoft threatened them with a 30% fee and Gaben found that to be just unacceptable. After billions of dollars of R&D to improve linux and a decade of advertising it as gamer friendly they've managed to convince like 3% of steam users to switch.
