Monster loot never recovered from Kalandra. We just had a few broken strats each league that could hide how bad it was. Those strats either relied on unique monsters, spawning 20+ maps worth of rares in one map, or a gimmick that boosted quanity/rarity to insane levels like affliction and ghost busting. Then you have barrels and abyss hoards that only need the map mods and mod effect to out perform all the monster loot in the map multiple times over.

Keepers of the Flame was the last nail in the coffin for Path of Exile, not particularly cause the game is bad, but because it's painfully obvious that people don't care about the game anymore. All the reasons people list for the league's negative reception are either ambiguous (ground loot) or complaints people had about poe for literally a decade. Would this league be super duper alive if instead of KB, RF, and Earthshatter a super duper meta shakeup made Selfcast Fireball, Spectral Throw, and Chain Hook the meta skills? I don't really think so. Would this league be amazingly popular if the tree shat out even more and better items and the nuBreach mechanic was just the growing hand? I don't think so.

Previous leagues I used to pick up tons of rings/amulets/belts. Can vendor rings for Prismatics or just find Chaos Resist rings. I've been called retarded on here before because recombing shit was a lot of fun to me. Essence farming through early maps so you can force specific damage buffs on loot instead of waiting and praying.

I went with Gambling and ended up with the Sword I'm using today. It's nothing spectacular, but then i crafted the extra flat phys onto it and it helps. I say the other anon is also pretty smart, doing combining either through recomb or crafting recipes for the right items can really help. gambling bit me in the ass more than it helped of course, but we take our losses here.
