Take for example Gil's armor. It doesn't need to be taken out of Gate of Babylon. It magically appears on him, and is strong enough to block Saber's blocks. If Gil just manifests it against Shirou, Shirou dies. There's nothing he can do. Yet once again, in the entire UBW route, he never even attempts to wear the armor. Why? There's no reason.We can sit here and think about all the ways Gil could, without even taking the fight seriously, defeat Shirou. It'll be an endless amount. We can also list all the ways it breaks preestablished conventions. We'll be here all week. But none of that matters. Even Nasu acknowledges this and has used every opportunity since writing this backpedaling. In UBW BD interviews, he even says Shirou only won because everything just so happens to go right. He's outright stated that Gilgamesh has to lose to just plot convenience of a boy meets girl story, that's it. Logic doesn't matter anymore.
