This shows that there is a positive tone to her ascension itself, that her acts nourish this godly tree alien thing so that gives her the divine writ to act as she does. She is truly ascending into godhood in the mythic sense. People rally to her because of her ordained position as shown thru the changing of the world thru her direct actions. But she has to conquer her shadow to truly ascend inside. People can worship her as a god and she can live like one just like the ayyy lmaos that aren't truly gods but without going thru all the trials needed to shed her ego and self to become a true god she would have to conquer her shadow. Conquer it and fuse with it and become 'whole.' The base game shows her in constant conflict with one manifestation of her shadow actively combating her and beating her into submission. In the dlc you see all her past sins formed into a shadow land housing all her regrets or secrets. The sheer act of sealing it away instead of confronting it to dominate it is symbolic on its own. Again, this is all in the Jungian view that you can entirely ignore if you want, but it does explain the reasoning. Shadows and how they can haunt you and prevent you or everyone from becoming the best they can be is a pretty big theme going throughout the game. Marika and Ranni both have shadows designed to keep them in check. Wraiths and spectors are pretty direct symbols of the shadow of grief being actively harmful. Night magic is seen as something to hide from and not try to master. The list goes on.

I think it's simplest to say that this is an idea that sounds good on paper, but in practice it's practically a parody of what people who hate Elden Ring's open world design think it is. Personally, my least favorite phase of every Elden Ring playthrough is the checklist; the phase when you're running around Acts 1 and 2 of the game picking up this or that thing "for your build".But the thing about the checklist is that it can be finished. Almost all forms of character progression in all FromSoft games, not just Elden Ring, are discrete and substantive. You collect specific things that progress your character in specific, significant ways: a weapon, a talisman, a spell, even consumables. There's not a single form of character progression in any FromSoft game like rune fragments and binding runes - an endless checklist of collectibles that no sane player will ever complete, providing buffs that are simultaneously worthless because of how insignificant they are, but worthwhile because of how many fucking rune fragments there are.

If you actually played the game you can easily tell who has the best doges based on how hard the night invaders are to hit. Recluse and Duchess are hardest to hit if they do nothing but spam dodge. Ironeye is easy to hit until he randomly uses mark.

Recluses dodge is good in some instances but overall I’d say it’s about on par with the ordinary dodge. Duchess and iron eye dodges are genuine crutches
