All these things grow exponentially when you add more choices and choices within choices. A solution I like is what Morrowind did. Just tell the player that they just bricked the main story and should reload if they want to finish it.

Funny that Wrath has boobplate versions of most of the plate armors. You need to hack it in. My guess is that originally, the plate armor model was more form fitting, but they swapped the female models to the male cuirasses for consistency and realism.
