Many characters have gotten events or arcs focusing largely on them without half the controversy as Elysia. It's agreed in many places that Otto is the best part of Kolosten while Durandal's constant flashbacks and all the pacing problems drag it down. Anon misses how much of the Elysia hate is Elysia herself and not just the considerable dislike to ER and EE.

Mei IMO just became an Elysia fangirl and even the whole Herrscher of Corruption finisher didn't have her, and the recent Golden Courtyard event just did a repeat of taking down HoC without Mei and it was entirely the same. Mei was more or less a worthless camerawoman whose biggest role is being responsible for HoC coming along, then having Elysia fix her problem for her at the cost of all the sims. The climax is >Elysia fixes Mei's problem while Mei does nothingas if they wanted to demonstrate Mei's worthlessness.>the whole thing about 'herrschers being good thanks to her hopes' was really weak tooNot only did it retcon tons of older lore, VNs, comics, and more, but it gave Elysia credit for everyone present's conflicts. How many FCs basically amounted to borderline filler or placeholder that could've been swapped by any other character? And we don't learn much about Kevin's plans too. That's the next one.

And many say it got better with Songque. For me, Part 2 only really got it's shit together during Helia's arc for spending the time to develop what was largely a "just there" character. If there's any moral to all this then they should've developed Mei better during ER because it saddens me to say the Helia focus chapters in Part 2 do Helia better than all the Mei focus chapters besides Nagazora. This is also what angers me about Amphoreus. They can do proper character development arcs, they just deliberately gave HSR players a worse version of ER.
