After playing thousands of hours of each game (sadly) I can safely and confidently say that sunbreak’s G rank end game is genuinely easier than 8/9* mons in wilds. They even have similar hp, despite hunters being able to do 4-5x more damage in sunbreak compared to wilds, and other ridiculous things like infinite stamina. I truly have come to despise rise fans for their delusions more than anything that has to do with the game itself.

Lance in gen 1 is actually genuinely fun to git gud at. Chaining sidesteps into sideways backhops feels good, guard poke is actually genuinely useful when used aggressively as a pseudo counter, and chasing limping monsters down and killing them before they get away is satisfying as fuck. The problem is it suffers from the same issues as dual blades. Namely a ton of stamina upkeep and low mobility. This isn't really an issue when facing one monster but as is often the case in gen 1 and 2 you're often in one area with one large monster and several small monsters. It ultimately just means you either have to pay the skill tax to get guard or you have to constantly farm dash juice. The benefit is you can absolutely shit out damage if you know what you're doing. Even spastic monsters like gypceros get fucked.

Is there a guide on how to optimize the performance of MHW on PC? I have an RTX 3070 and the game runs fine but it really works my GPU hard, wondering if there's any well known settings you can turn down to get the GPU usage back down to something more sane. I'm pretty sure I already capped FPS to 60 I might scale the resolution from 1440 down to 1080 and see if that helps, the only thing I'm not doing is changing nvidia drivers.
