Late into VS K9 meta before the banlist you can even see for example in Vancouver the two top 4 lists opted to play Extrav and cut the K9 engine keeping just Izuna and 1 Jokul.The deck before Sue and Start had some surprisingly good engine cards, but the problem was that it was crazy inconsistent and lacked real pushes. Sue on top of being the ridiculously broken T0 handtrap it is, it helps with both of those things and Start turning Mad Love into a starter is also massive. The deck got 6 additional starters and an additional way to stick a VS on the board which means you don't get instantly hard checked by non-target removal on your normal summon Razen (which made the deck pre-support unplayable into things like Maliss ).

Similarly one of Synchron's few upsides is that it only locks you to Synchro so you can use the entire Synchro slop extra deck boss lineup, but then you have to ask yourself why you're using Synchrons to do that instead of a more competent Synchro deck.But at least they're better than DM which is somehow 0 for 3 on starters, combos, and endboard. At least HERO had the excuse that all of its support was broken up into 5 subcategories. DM unironically gets cards that do NOTHING.
