Return to Little Planet 1 & 2 are amazing films.They're everythingfaggotry with Windnic included. I can't help but applaud the filmmakers for understanding Sonic. It's better written than a majority of IDW and has better characterization than Archie.The only dud I think is "Sally" in the first film. She acts nothing like Sally in SatAM. In fact, they even have a scene where Tails acts more like Sally (perhaps an early manifestation of 'Sally Tails') than Sally despite them both being in the same scene together.Tails is the one who gets intelligence on Robotnik's bases while Sally is a... mystic healer. It'd honestly make more sense if they just called Sally Tikal.The dinner scene is outstanding and genuinely great cinematography. The plot of the first film kind of predicts Sonic Generations with Sonic going back in time, meeting his younger self, and Shadow yearning for a chance to see Maria agin. It's incredible.There's a lot of things this duology does right that a lot of Sonic fan projects don't.I think the films are an underrated gem and it would be incredible if IDW took more cues from their characterizations.The fusion of Cream and Vanilla works really well for the original setting of these films.

Archie suffered a slow death. First Sonic chronicles came out and caused a slew of mandates to fly in. Eventually a lot of the things Archie fans were enjoying were ripped from the comic piece by piece before it was rebooted. IDW started with the mandates at the ready. The changes in writing are caused by fan backlash, not by Sega's changing values. If IDW ends right now it would be a sudden and untimely death.
