Your main army should have had stacks of Orc Arrer Boyz and Orc Big Uns the minute you could recruit them, Orc Boyz are too squishy for handling WoC, Tamurkhan, Ogres and the Chorfs and almost all the goblin units besides Nasty Skulkers are practically worthless to Grimgor and all those enemies. Khalida's campaign is still shit, but it's the AI's cowardly bullshit that ruins it.Turn 1, you kill the first vamp army and take the 2nd settlement like the game tells you. Second turn, a second vamp army force marches to withing striking distance of your starting settlement. There's no way to intercept because you can only have one lord and it's too far away to move to. Enemy army sacks it next turn that force marches away towards Lahmia. You force march in return and take Lahmia the next few turns. Now the vamp army is force marching all the way down to the first settlement you took. They still havent fixed this gay ass whack-a-mole bullshit. The enemy AI would rather attack undefended settlements than fight my army in the field. Unfun, time-wasting bullshit.

Being a friend of Skarbrand's may not make princehood any easier because of his relationship with Khorne being complicated.
