It is entirely 'functional', but with so many failings amongst its component parts the overall experience ends up suffering. It could've been a perfectly nice chair. There are promising moments and interesting stories on offer that sadly end up getting butchered by mind-numbingly boring pacing or tedious side-tracking. Often, you will think 'hey this bit is cool, it's really picking up now' only to then go back from whence you came, fixing every third street lamp on the way, whilst also cooking up some chopped Tonowangatohoo for the local elephant. All this, while thanking your lucky stars that all the villainous plans afoot have graciously paused whilst you, for want of a better expression, piss about for a bit.It's these small, continuous transgressions that make you clutch your head in despair and wonder who is orchestrating this punishment? What crime as an avid FFXIV supporter did I commit? I just wanted to enjoy it, I didn't even really mind the story that they were trying to tell (it is not as calamitous as others may claim), but golly they sure did elect to spin this tale in the most jarring way possible. It's a real shame because the dungeons are great and there are some real standout moments that shine a light towards what Dawntrail could've been. I hope at least lessons have been learned and better is to come. After all, you have to sit on a few awful chairs from time to time to fully appreciate a lush recliner!

The only thing I want changed about the games systems is the job level grind to be basically removed.Like fine, for each category like Tank, Healer, Ranged etc. make them do the first job the old fashioned way, grind it out over the course of a week or two depending on how much free time you have. But I'm not fucking levelling, what, 23 is it? I'm not levelling 23 jobs to cap just to play a different job, it's such a waste of my fucking life.
