I think the more time passes the more i really start to appreciate etrian 5, i really like a lot of the changes they made after all the other games had been so similar. not that they never mixed it up before but going from 4/untolds to 5 felt like the jump from 2 to 3 againits actually really disappointing that all we got after was nexus which was just the old games remixed and then actual ports of the old games, i'd love to see more genuinely new etrian odyssey again

Am I alone in thinking that the classes in EO3 aren't very fun? Team building seems super restrictive, and it feels like if I don't have a gladiator, hoplite, and monk, then my team instantly dies. Even then, half the classes left over are only really good as a subclass, and so even the choice for the last two slots is more of an illusion anyway.
Would Shogun be good for emulating “Bushi” in EON or Ronin? The only classes that enable a sub weapon are nightseeker and shogun right?

New dialogue every floor and the quest NPCs being given their own portraits added so much to the game. I also really like all the alternate solutions to quests, mainly with Abigail. The new classes were a lot of fun. Beast was one of my favorites til I hit the dragons where he was just a sack of potatoes. I can't even imagine using him against the final boss. I think war magus was my favorite of the new classes due to the combos with hexer. I think it was strange that there isn't really an explanation for the Yggdrasil at Lagaard. I really like the story that the royal family of Lagaard are the descendants of the Overseer's former lover and that's why he always kept the door open for them to return. I just wish there was some dialogue about the tree. Maybe I missed it, but I feel like there should've been some audio log on the Yggdrasil project and how it effected his plans or something. I also wish there were some kind of commentary on the Ur-child, but that applies to Primevil from the first game too to be fair. Overall, I wanna give it an 8or9/10 like the first game. The 5th stratum reveal was a lot less impressive than the 5th stratum from EO1, but the added interactivity in town made up for it.
