If you go past a starting point of 1517-1520 you lose the aztecs.Making it the 'tropical' means you also get the Portuguese in Africa and India, you get the spanish wars in the maghreb, you get Venetian colonies in the eastern mediterranean. The problem is you have a lot of empty space with the sahara and the primitives of the great lakes area (Kongo is a decent state, Ethiopia/Sudan/Somalia are decent, but the african lakes area is where it's literal 'we fight 100% naked' guys). Time period is another consideration although the early 1500s remains ideal for East asia too, as you can net Portuguese/Spanish representation. Sadly dutch and others requires going too far ahead into the 1600s. If Medieval 3 then red map more or less works. You can bitch about including Ghana and Makuria but it's just no harm easy to do and it gives pressure for the usual safe-spots of Egypt and morocco. Honestly for medieval 3 I'd just have the Americas as an Age of Charlemagne campaign that ties into the world empires map - if you own it then the world empires map gets the Americas included. Trilogy 2 and you can have it be a bit of a repeat of the Middle East, but have it be India/Central Asia through to the Bosphorous or so.Trilogy 3 is the far east.But you can play around with the choice of a starting date, too. For example Release 1 is 1070AD, but Release 2 (Middle East) is 11xx with Outremer established already and maybe shifting the date to Saladin and the heart of the crusades, while Release 3 could be 12xx with Genghis Khan already there.Either way there's no reason to expect an entire world map for M3 out the bat. The ME/IE system worked for them, and I expect/appreciate it going forwards.
